  1. We don't know that. We never explicitly see someone using plate without stormlight, and dead plate spren should still have enough investiture to work it on their own yeah? Unless you have some quote that I missed. F-gold can heal shardblade wounds. F-pewter can destroy shardplate. F-steel can make the Fullborn impossibly quick. They can move so fast that a radiant has no opportunity to react. With F-nicrosil compounding, they can push on the trace metals in the ground, or in the radiant's bloodstream. With F-iron they can jump on top of the radiant and crush them. With F-brass, they can superheat themselves to a million degress and burn the radiant to ash. Seriously, at the end of BoM, Marasi got the bands of mourning, tapped speed to go faster than the speed of sound, casually pushed Suit and Telsin away from her by their hemalurgic spikes and pushed off the trace metals in the stone beneath her. Then she gave it to Wax, who used F-gold to come back from the dead and pulled an entire airship out of the sky. All that with a metalmind spearhead as large as Wayne's palm. A fourth ideal radiant will be no more of a threat to a fullborn than a flea in open combat.
  2. Kaladin. He noted that stormlight evaporated quickly at first, then slowly. Kaladin also held stormlight without noticing it, and had a conversation with this stormlight in him. So Jasnah still had stormlight, just not enough to keep her exhaustion away or let her hold her breath forever.
  3. The last bit of stormlight takes a lot longer to be expended, particularly if you aren't healing.
  4. She literally thinks to herself two paragraphs above the Edgedancer giving her a large topaz "running out of stormlight". Look it up. page 756, chapter 64, third paragraph from the bottom, first line.
  5. She has stormlight though. She is "running out" meaning the healing is slowing down, leading to her fatigue and need to breath, but is not entirely out.
  6. Yeah, but it isn't noted to be glowing until Kaladin wears it. and that would fall under #2.
  7. Yeah, you can. But if you had to pick just one allomantic power, which one would you choose?
  8. But you don't even need to be a Lerasium misting, because everyone can burn it.
  9. Why are you picking a useless Allomantic power? There isn't even any Lerasium to find.
  10. For combat, A-pewter F-gold is really good in general, but there are more specific combos that would be better for less general purpose. A-chromium F-steel would work well to counter allomancers and assassinate targets. Zip up in superspeed, then drain their investiture and stab them. A-steel is obviously very destructive, particularly when paired with F-iron. F-nicrosil, depending on how it actually functions, might be really cool. A-pewter F-steel would work for a more volatile combatant. In the end, for combat, I'd take A-steel and F-gold. Bullets are basically useless against me, and even if I go up against aluminum weapons, I can heal it up. For everyday life, I'd choose A-pewter and F-iron or gold. Pewter is obvious, better health, I'm stronger, more durable, all that. F-iron keeps me from drowning or falling to my death, and F-gold keeps me alive through basically anything except maybe cancer. I think I'd go with F-gold in the end, just because I like being alive, and F-gold keeps me alive better than F-iron.
  11. Awwww. Look at the cute fluffly little ball of pure darkness and nightmares. So cute .
  12. That's the whole point. Once you run out of stormlight, plate becomes too heavy to use. Well, there are three possible explanations for that. 1. Adin had some spheres on him. 2. Living plate can hold stormlight. 3. Brandon didn't think about it and thought it made for a cool scene. But yeah, that does put a hole in my argument. My gut says it's way too overpowered, but we'll have to wait for later books or ask Brandon to find out for sure.
  13. Still cute.
  14. That's what I said. She didn't start breathing because she ran out, she starting breathing, then realized she was running out of stormlight. Even if she had run out of stormlight, plate being able to change form does not necessarily need stormlight. Living blades do so. The only thing that needs stormlight is the super strength. (and the regeneration, but we saw that it requires stormlight on page.)
  15. but its so cute.
  16. Deadblades can't be dismissed without investiture to forge a bond, deadplate can't be dismissed at all because bonding a ton of lesser spren is way harder. Dead blades can be dismissed without stormlight. You only need stormlight during the initial bonding process. So they still function identically in everything with or without stormlight, once you bond them. Nope. She was running out of stormlight, but didn't fight without it, and was given a large gemstone before she ran out, then refilled on stormlight before going back into battle.
  17. No way. Sure it'll be super durable, but for shardplate to give superstrength without stormlight would be absolutely broken, and wouldn't make sense at all. Dead shardblades don't need stormlight to function same as live ones and are functionally identical in every other way besides the shapeshifting and summoning, (just like dead plate to live plate) so I don't see any reason that dead shardplate would have such a major difference.
  18. Well plate doesn't work without stormlight, but yeah, normal person versus shardbearer? shardbearer.
  19. Yes. No question.
  20. Not if you're tapping healing when your head is cut off. Otherwise Wax's plan against Miles would've been "sneak up behind him and cut his head off" instead of "wrap him up in nets so that he can't escape"
  21. Oh, I was wrong, it's actually the first two chapters. Or at least part of chapter 2.
  22. Brandon released a video on his channel of him reading TLM chapter 1: youtube link
  23. I agree that Vasher is good at intent, but I don't think he's going to be a teacher of it. He might give some characters tips, and he definitely tought Azure, but he isn't going to open a school of intent or anything like that.
  24. No, not everything that Kaladin does most be tested, but the stormstopping is clearly different from his other powers. Syl is surprised by it and doesn't seem to think of it as a normal power, and it uses windspren. Do you think that every fourth ideal radiant can summon hundreds or thousands of windspren whenever they want in order to stop storms? I'm not saying that they can't, just that we shouldn't assume they can just because Kaladin can.
  25. That's in relation to touching spren, no? Not in relation to metabolizing food to lifelight.
