Probably. I would guess that they can absorb stormlight in other ways too. Kaladin realizing that he couldn’t get stormlight underwater seemed to foreshadow something like that being possible. Either that or it foreshadowed Radiants being unable to get more stormlight in a vacuum, which would throw a wrench in any radiant astronaut plans.
-
I understood Frustration's argument. I don't think Stormlight is seen as a replacement for air by the body. The healing just happens to make oxygen or "heal" your cells by making ATP. I think Stormlight works via pressure. When you inhale stormlight, it goes into your blood. However, the more stormlight you have, the more pressure it is under. Since Radiants are an imperfect container, the stormlight leaks out. Some of it goes out through the skin, but much more of it gets pushed down the path of least resistance, out into the lungs and through the mouth. Now, once you run low on stormlight, there's less pressure, meaning most of it remains in your bloodstream, meaning you can talk without losing tons of stormlight. As you increase your oaths, your spiritual aspect becomes better at holding investiture, so you leak less. Or maybe you increase your spiritual aspect's affinity with investiture, which decreases the pressure. Now, what said about breathing being the way to expel stormlight, meaning it is unchanged by oath, is accurate. When the Radiant is trying to expel stormlight. When Kaladin was getting a tattoo, he purposefully expelled the stormlight from himself. Regardless of oath, radiants will be able to expel stormlight at the same speed. Higher oaths might even be able to do it faster.

It's possible she just didn't remark on the changes besides the speed. The F-pewter could be explained by whoever filled the metalminds storing the extra strength from A-pewter (which doesn't cause increased muscle mass). It was the Cognitive realm. And it's been established that invested people in the physical realm glow in the cognitive realm. Yeah. Unless there's something about Fullborn that we don't know, they should be able to mass produce Bands of Mourning. And Bondsmiths can steal bonds, and could probably make unoathed fifth ideal power leve radiants. Ishar was the one who bound surgebinding to oaths in the first place, after all. I'll save that quote for the post-TLM thread.

Technically the oathgates go through the spiritual realm or whatever, it doesn't just send you flying at FTL speeds towards your destination.

Emerald broams are the highest, skymarks are a bit more than 1/10 the value of them. Do you pay in breaths? -
Yeah, it would be difficult to manage, and you would need a ton of stormlight. A fused with shardplate could probably manage it though.

So no pension? What about sick days? -
I dunno. Fabrials and the like would probably work well for space travel, and if you were willing to risk a Bondsmith, infinite Stormlight would let Radiants simply lash something into space. I wouldn't be surprised if you could rig up a Fabrial to make oxygen either. Of course, anything other than going to space is probably off the table for quite some time. A windrunner might be able to get to a moon if you gave them enough perfect gemstones.

I'd take all 10 surges. AonDor would take way too long to learn, and the surges would be much more fun to use. WYR live with Horneaters or Herdazians?- 954 replies

No, you exhale any oxygen not absorbed by your blood. The oxygen that is absorbed by your blood is turned into carbon dioxide which is put into your lungs to be expelled.
-
Yeah, Scadrial and Roshar are both very far away from FTL. Getting into space will be easier though. Shardplate allows for easy pressure suits, and Stormlight lets Radiants go without oxygen.
-
Because it stays in your bloodstream until it is used up, just like oxygen does.
-
Yeah, I like this idea.
