  1. The narrator was very put off by this. So he hired a consultant.
  2. Then a narrator walked in and saw the entire plan. His eyes widened in shock.
  3. Except that Bob didn't do that. He hated the tuna smoothie and burned it.
  4. That, on a metaphysical level, their faces were actually checkers.
  5. He would make them feel the pain that he had felt.
  6. Nameless crept up on the district five tribute. What was his name? Void. Yes, that was it. Looked like all the stress had gotten to him. He was just sitting there, head in his hands. Well, no use in sitting around and letting him recover from his little mental breakdown. Nameless pulled out an improvised grenade, then hesitated, looking at the poor kid. He put the grenade away and picked up a nearby rock. No need to waste valuable ammo. A few minutes later, Nameless was wishing he'd just used a grenade. This blood would not be good for his camouflage. Might be intimidating though.
  7. "I... suppose I did." Unintelligible nodded. "Yep. We did. I think so, at least." Unintelligible glared at him. "You did not summon me. I went on my own."
  8. "Oh. Right." Unintelligible hesitated. "Sorry I took so long."
  9. Unintelligible, of course, didn't know this, so he panicked. "Sequence? Oh storms, something's wrong. What happened?"
  10. "Of course. If you stab someone and they survive, they didn't die. If you explode a Narrator into a million pieces and they survive, did they really die?"
  11. "Uh, actually, you don't have to do anything at all, besides learning to manipulate your essence into forming a blade of pure Narrative energy. Or semi-pure, actually. It varies between narrators." Nameless shrugged. "And no, Thaidakar has not killed any Narrators. We're really hard to kill."
  12. Unintelligible waited until she stopped. "feeling better?"
  13. Unintelligible winced, but cut the rest of the spikes out as quickly as he could. "There. Are you feeling better?"
  14. Unintelligible grabbed her shoulder. "Sequence, wait. Please. Once I take them all out, the pain will stop."
  15. Unintelligible winced. "Sequence, I'm so sorry." He moved The Sword carefully, cutting out one of the spikes and handing it to Thaidakar.
  16. "Sequence? Are you alright? I can help you, I promise." Unintelligible pulled out The Sword. "I can cut away your pain, but I don't have your eyes. I can't cut what I can't see. Can you show me?"
  17. Unintelligible's smile turned a little sad. "I lost that when I died." He chuckled softly. "I do still have the gloves though."
