    The woman looked surprised. "As a matter of fact, yes. Were you? Not many know about that battle."

    The warrior lifted her helm, revealing herself to be a woman unfamiliar to Cellist.

    A laser fired by a chicken clipped Calano's leg, another coming dangerously close to his head.

    Gladius oversaw the battle from his control room. Things were looking fairly good. Though the clinic's original owners were making steady progress, they were disorganized, spread out. Yes. A little more pressure, and they will crack. "Commander Barus, proceed to the front lines and rally our troops. Focus the attack on Calano. I suspect that once he falls, the Lady of Shadows will fly into a rage and be easily outmaneuvered and killed." Commander Barus saluted, picking up his Bannerstaff and dashing off to follow his orders. Calano saw a new chicken approaching the front lines, holding a banner of some sort. As he watched, the chicken raised the banner, which began glowing. As the glow began in the banner, the chickens attacking Calano began to speed up, attacks becoming more coordinated and dangerous, threatening to overwhelm his defenses.

    The warrior froze, then spun towards Bookwyrm. "Bookwyrm? What are you doing here?"

    Chickens swarmed Bookwyrm, fearlessly charging in to throw nets over his wings and grapples onto his legs in an attempt to topple him.

    The chickens had set up two large plasma cannons, which they began firing at Bookwyrm.

    The warrior grabbed the bow of truth from the Eizard and snapped it in half, then turned towards Cellist. "Who dares trespass here?"

    The shape leapt from the shadows towards the Eizard, revealing itself to be a massive warrior in armor made from the bones of a dragon.

    This was just what the chickens were waiting for. Ever since their run-in with the guardians last time they'd invaded, they'd been preparing a countermeasure for the mechs. They deployed it now, activating a pulse generator that reacted with the unique energy in the Wyrm mech's core and completely disabling the mech. A new regiment of Darkslayers swarmed the disabled mech, attempting to pierce the cockpit and destroy the hated Lady of Shadows for good.

    The chakram revealed a hulking shape with a massive horned head.

    The Darkslayers attacked, shafts of light launching from the tips of their spears.

    The dripping grew louder, and an indistinct shape appeared in the shadows ahead.

    The sound of marching boots came from behind Bookwyrm, and another regiment of chickens marched around the corner, pinning Bookwyrm in.

    They held their ground, glowing spears pointed towards Emma's heart.

    General Gladius grunted as he looked over the casualty reports. "Could be worse. We lost less than a third of our forces. Has Lark been informed of the situation?" The commander shook his head. "He's sealed his office doors. We won't be able to get through them in time." "That's... unfortunate." Gladius examined the maps closely. "In that case, we have no choice. Bring out the Darkslayers and deploy them on the front lines." Barus saluted, dashing off to pass on the orders. Soon, a group of chickens wearing strange armor approached, weapons tinged with a pure white light.

    A dripping sound broke the silence.

    As Calano and Emma blitzed through the hallways, they too noticed the chickens beginning their retreat.

    The chickens appeared to be consolidating their forces in the extremely large hallway in front of Lark's office, unfortunately converging on the location that Bookwyrm had chosen to portal to.

    A large group of chickens entered the hallway in front of Bookwyrm with spears raised, and dozens of multicolored dots appeared on his chest as invisible snipers took aim. Suddenly, the chickens began pulling back, leaving Ranyru alone on the rooftop. The courtyard below her clearing out as well.

    General Gladius looked down at the maps grimly as commander Barus gave his report. "Calano and the Lady of Shadows have returned, and they're obliterating our troops throughout the clinic. We've lost control of sectors A, B, C, D, and W, and the others aren't far from it." Gladius nodded, examining the maps carefully before speaking. "We pull all of our forces back to this sector. Calano knows that he can retake as much of the clinic as he wants; as long as Lark has the treaty, everything else they do is for naught. Lark's protection's here will give our forces a better chance anyway." The elite chicken guards patrolling the hallway attacked.

    The mumbling ceased suddenly, silence consuming the echoing labyrinth.

    The voice became scattered words. "mumblemumblemumbleslimemumblemumbleLIMB FROM LIMB!mumblemumblewith my bare hands! I'll RIP YOUR GUTS OUT, you HEAR ME?!mumblemumble"

    The voice became louder, approaching the group.
