    Curiosity swung the Plotblade that was maybe hers around in a circle. “I can stab you again if you want. Maybe something’s happen this time!”

    “She’d say: ‘Curiosity, you’re an idiot. Don’t you remember what happened the last time you picked up an unknown Plotblade? It almost disconnected you from the rest of us! Do you have any idea what would’ve happened if we got recombined without an essential part of our soul? Because I do, and it’s not good.” Curiosity laughed. “Reasoning’s silly like that. Always saying stuff like ‘Curiosity killed the cat’, or ‘Why do you want to see what happens when you press the button attached to the giant death ray that’s pointed at me?’ I’m pretty sure she’s just joking most of the time. I mean, I’d never kill a cat. They’re much more interesting alive.”

    Curiosity considered this. “Nah. I already know what she’d say, so what’s the point?”

    “Why not? Will holding it kill me or something?”

    “Ooh, another Plotblade?” Curiosity grabbed Side Character from Rirrom. “Can I keep it?”

    “I thought I explained that my invisibility isn’t very useful. I can’t block light only one way so whoever I cloak will be blind, and besides that it’s difficult to project a perfect image. There will be some noticeable blurring, particularly while moving.”

    Shim shone a ray of light on Ayia's hand. "Shimoeth Akladin, greatest necromancer to ever live. Pleasure to make your acquaintance."

    "Er, didn't you read the waiver?" With enough practice, he could change other people. It would work best if they were willing to change, and of course whenever he used the Blade he'd have to constantly fight to keep it from changing him.

    Curiosity dropped her camera in shock. "Y-you controlled it?! That's incredible! And terrifying. Storms. Please don't give me a conscience."

    Surprise covered the Shim's face for a moment, then understanding. "Interesting. Very interesting." Shim's human form was tall, with a pale, thin face and light blond hair. His most striking feature was his eyes, pure black holes that seemed to pull one into eternity. "It's been a long time since I've seen myself in this form. I must thank you."

    "My light powers? I could make a flashbang or produce heat via infrared light. Not very effective. Although I could perhaps kill someone with gamma radiation over a long period of time, it's hard for me to shorten my wavelength that much."

    Curiosity felt a slight tinge of guilt as she hunkered down behind the shield and gave Arranis a thumbs-up. The guilt was quickly covered up by her trademark curiosity, however, and she pulled out a camera to take pictures of whatever Arranis turned into.

    "That would explain why I haven't encountered it before." Shimoeth flashed brightly, color returning to his normal yellowish glow. "That's everything I wanted to know. Do you have any other questions for me?"

    Curiosity takes the paper, and Whimsy hands Arranis a box wrapped in chains with sixteen separate locks, along with sixteen keys. "All right. As soon as Whimsy gets the Development-Radiation shield set up to shield us from you, you can open up the box and draw the Plotblade."

    "Oh, nothing. Just wondered if you could give me an in-depth explanation of how your powers work, and how perception-based magic came about. Probably not the best time right now."

    "Great! Now, before we give you the Blade, Reasoning made us this waiver thing that you have to sign. No need to read it closely, all it really says is that you agree to the consequences of drawing the sword." Whimsy handed Arranis a piece of paper along with a pen. The waiver read: By signing this waiver, you give up all right to sue for the following damages: Death, dismemberment, disfigurement, dislocation of limbs, dislocation of mind, permanently crippling injury, and any other bad thing(s) that will happen to you as a consequence of drawing the Plotblade of Character Development. You acknowledge that you are fully aware that of the last three people to draw this Blade, one died of guilt, the other died of jumping into a burning building to save orphans, and the final one transformed into a hideous mutated abomination with thirteen arms, one wing, four mouths, and an unspecified number of fingers/eyes.     Unintelligible walked up to Rirrom. "Hey, you said you wanted to come with me on that quest to find a magic sword, right?" @Aeoliae Subversion's Curiosity ran up, followed by Subversion's Whimsy. "Hey! We heard you guys want a Plotblade? Well, you're in luck! We have one, and we need volunteers to draw it and see what happens!" @Scars of Hathsin Moni stared at the shadow for a long moment. Then, she turned and walks away, a shift in the thread causing her to vanish.

    "Well, Nothing here can kill me."

    "For now. Perhaps I'll ask more questions once you're in a place that is more safe."

    “My connection to him isn't gone, but I can't sense anything through it. Beyond that, when we last spoke he... said he didn't want to be a narrator anymore. I..." Moni let out an exasperated sigh. "I didn't think he'd actually go through with it. I mean, you know how he was. I thought maybe he'd stop using his powers, but give them up entirely? Impossible. He was too proud for that." Unintelligible butted in. "Actually, you could survive being stabbed by Mordite, if it wasn't in a lethal place."

    "I think Nameless is dead." Moni looked at Thaidakar. "I think Feanor killed him."
