    "Fine." Moni sheathed her dagger. "So, neither of you are evil?"

    Moni blocked further attacks from whatever had attacked her. "Hi. What's your name?"

    "Sure it isn't. Just someone who looks like you."

    "Fine, you want an idea? We go along with them for now, and find a way to escape later."

    Moni's arm moved with blurring speed, blocking the strike with her dagger. Despite looking like it was made more of rust than metal, her weapon's blade didn't snap. "See? You do try to kill people."

    "I doubt they need dime-a-dozen magic users like you. People like me and Variance, sure. But you are rather expendable."

    "But you're trying to." Moni waved the dagger around. "I bet you'll try to kill me in a second."

    "I disagree. They seem extremely intelligent. From the looks of it, they have successfully incorporated the magic of multiple different universes into their empire."

    "Where's the real one then?"

    "Assuming they don't have cameras through which they can see our mouths moving."

    "I highly doubt we will be able to escape as easily as you imply."

    "Indeed." Shim's glow shifted to gold. "It was forbidden after my defeat."

    "I could raise the dead."

    "I can speak for myself." Shim glowed a cool white. "I was planning to pretend idiocy, but I must admit; I'm impressed by this Beorin empire. So yes, I was cursed. The curse destroyed my physical form and forced me to exist as mere light, sealing away my powers forever."

    "Oh, of course. Contracts." Moni pointed her dagger at the scroll. "Fortunately, I have the perfect thing to end that contract."

    "Uh, I don't think anyone was." Moni frowned. "They were all just trying to not let you kill them."

    Everyone that ran away got chased by Desolation, and they're all split up.
