  1. "No. But I did see something before I got here. Some kind of flashback I think?" "Hm. A weapon made from your soul would be very potent, I suspect. What manner of weapon would you like? Have you manifested a Narrationblade yet?"
  2. "Of course. I can make you a weapon that will do what a weapon can do. Which is more than you might expect."
  3. "That depends. How well do you know the Inklings?" "Well the person you are is very interesting." Subversion frowned. "Sorry, I'm not being very nice right now, am I? Is there any way I can help you remember who you are?" "I cannot. No weapon can make right your wrongs." The Dreamsmith turned back to his forge. "Only you can do that. Only you can forgive yourself for Desolation's actions." "Interesting." The Dreamsmith was silent for a moment. "So, do you want a weapon?"
  4. Subversion smiled. "That makes you more interesting! I'll definitely stick around until you figure it out."
  5. Subversion considered this. "I guess you can't. But you can tell me who you are."
  6. "Oh, I'm stretching it am I? What about this then?" Subversion snapped her fingers, and a (uninhabited) planet exploded. "I have no idea! I just noticed you, so I appeared next to you. You seemed interesting."
  7. "Interesting. Did you do anything differently from what you normally did in Authoring?" "Yeah. I'd say we've got this in the bag." Moni sighed. "So what unforeseen tricks is he going to have up his sleeve? A previously unmentioned Plotblade? A powerup from Darkness? Could be anything." "Oh, I can actually answer both of your questions in one answer!" Subversion smiled. "I'm basically a god. I can narrate anything I want, and it happens!"
  8. "Yes, I think we'll be alright." Subversion blinked. "Oh, you're awake. I'm Subversion, a narrator. Don't worry, I won't hurt you. I've got a brand-new conscience, barely even used." The weapon that the Dreamsmith makes for Falvan will give them hope. "I see. Such a shield will be very hard to make. Narration is very powerful, and stopping it completely may well be impossible. I cannot make you a shield that will stop narration's effects entirely." "I was curious. So far as I know, an Author has never before descended into the thread as you have. very rarely do they interfere in plot at all. How is it that your character dragged you down here?" -- The strain on Omen's face faded somewhat. "I have finished all the tests. It is still difficult to keep so many in the dwelling of the Dreamsmith, but I can manage one more. Abalodor, you may see the Dreamsmith, if you wish." @TheRavenHasLanded
  9. The Dreamsmith stared at Cognition, the glow in his eyes brightening. "Yes, I see that. I will be able to make you a good shield. Tell me, what would you like it to do?" "Well, if it fails I might be able to do something." Moni tapped her own Narrationblade. "I won't kill Desolation, but... maybe I can do something else." Wasn't Falvan Foreshadowed to stop Desolation?
  10. "No, of course not. But any shield I forge will be a part of you. I have seen what Desolation is capable of. Do you have similar potential?" "I-what? Sorry, talking to myself. So this thing can stop Desolation?"
  11. "A shield to defend against narrators? That is quite the shield. Do you think you have it in you to be such a shield?" Moni stared at the new blade, a look of shocked realization crossing her face. "I... is that really possible?" Subversion frowned. She felt like she'd almost understood what the being was trying to say. "I asked if you were okay. You don't seem okay."
  12. The Dreamsmith sat at his forge, hammering away at a spearhead. "Hello Cognition. What kind of weapon do you want?"
  13. The door opened, and the ringing of metal on metal came through it.
  14. "Very well." The figure vanished, and a door appeared at the far end of the room.
  15. The figure did not remove his offered hand. "So you refuse me again?"
  16. Subversion dimmed the light to a reasonable level. "Are you okay?" "Yes, I suppose it would be. I'm afraid I can't help you with your problem. Authors are far beyond my purview." "Probably a good idea. Say, where's Platypus gotten off to?" I know you live in fear of them. Every time a narrator visits you, they inevitably turn, causing great suffering. Unlike Desolation, your people do not know how to fight narrators. I can give you a way to fight them. With the power the bond will give you, killing the narrators will be unnecessary. They will stay far away from you." The figure stepped forward, shadows in the room deepening. "I ask you, will you accept this power?" Current teams: Darkness and Desolation are semi-teamed as antagonists, Platypus, Moniker, Falvan, the Once-Author, Unintelligible, Abalodor, Cognition, and Rirrom are teamed against Darkness and Desolation for the moment, Omen and the Dreamsmith are on their own side together, and Subversion's undecided (Platypus really hates her at the moment, even more than usual).
  17. Subversion sighed. "Okay, I see how it is. You're insane. Don't worry, I know how to help with that." She summoned an extremely bright light, directly in front of Eldyn's eyes. Abalodor passed Omen's test, at least to the point that he decided to just let the Dreamsmith deal with him. But he hasn't brought him to see the Dreamsmith yet, as the Dreamsmith's currently seeing two people at once.
  18. "We'll have to see. It depends on what kind of weapon you want. Just something to kill Desolation? Or do you want something more?"
  19. The Dreamsmith turned around. He was wearing a blacksmith's apron and had streaks of greyed skin running down his right arm, although his glowing eyes and mechanical jaw distracted from those features of his appearance. "Yes, I am. You have come for a weapon to right your wrongs, correct?" "Can you hear me? Hello? You seem to be a bit out of it at the moment." Subversion frowned. "Do you need help?" "We should at least mark it for what it is. Do you have something you could use to inscribe a message on the hatch door?" "Hello." The Dreamsmith stood up and walked over to the Once-Author. Although everything about the Dreamsmith and the room they stood in was identical to where Falvan was, there was no sign of anyone other than the Dreamsmith and the Once Author. "Did you know that you shouldn't exist?"
  20. Omen raised his hand, tendrils of energy wrapping around the Once Author. "This will take you to him." The energy covered the Once-Author entirely, and when it cleared he stood in front of the Dreamsmith. "Uh, can you hear me? Or are you implying that you want me to be quiet?"
  21. "I don't know. An Enuller could fix it entirely, but I don't know how to contact any of those. Maybe Platypus could do something?" Subversion appeared next to Eldyn and offered a handshake. "Hi! I'm Subversion. How's it going?"
  22. "That makes sense." Moni frowned at the hatch. "We should make it more secure. Withergeists would be able to sneak through if someone left it open."
  23. "I don't know why it'd be familiar to you. Maybe something to do with Desolation?" Moni shrugged. "Anyways, the Void is exactly what it sounds like. The empty space between what exists. It's filled with withergeists, and I would not recommend visiting."
  24. "It's a gateway to the void between worlds. Not a place you would want to go."
  25. Moni dusted off the hatch and opened it, bracing herself against the wind. Her eyes widened as she saw whatever was inside it, and she slammed the hatch back shut, drawing her Plotblade as she stumbled away back down the dune. "What is something like that doing here?"
