You could always have crab as one of the dishes, although that can be expensive, so that's up to you. Make some basic spren! You could use red streamers for anticipation, blue paper leaves for joy, some sort of golden spheres for glory? I think that would also be cute for cake decorating, if you're doing a cake-- an emotion spren themed cake could be really fun!

Oh shoot, I didn't catch onto this somehow-- where is Felt from?

Thank you Honorless!!

Hmmm.... kinda? We do have confirmation that the Shadesmar lighthouse keeper in OB was an Elantrian-- actually, he's the same Elantrian that Raoden sent through the pool. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/370/#e11822 Sorry, I'm not sure how to paste it with the text haha. But anyway, yes, there is at least one person from Sel on Roshar, albeit in the Cognitive Realm.

Currently rereading WoR and noticed something I hadn't seen before on pages 363-364. Kaladin notices Rock shooing away a man with a sketchbook, a man that Rock says is an ardent who kept loitering around the bridgemen asking to draw them. Kaladin notes that those are strange actions for an ardent, but dismisses it. Do we have any WoB about the man? Could he be Nazh?

Kaladin's Mental Health Depiction Appreciation
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Stormrunner1730's topic in Stormlight Archive
Also, this is real. Thank you for putting this into words, Kyn, because you're absolutely right for many types of depression (my own included). It's painful, watching yourself doing things from a distance. And you're right, Kaladin exemplifies this perfectly. -
Kaladin's Mental Health Depiction Appreciation
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Stormrunner1730's topic in Stormlight Archive
I feel for everyone in this thread, both those with love for Kaladin and frustration. But personally, I do love Kal's storyline. I suffer from anxiety, depression, and PTSD (although not from anything nearly as extreme as most people). Kaladin saved me. When Oathbringer came out, I had just experienced the things that gave me most of my PTSD. I was feeling broken, as Teft put it. Reading the end of OB, where Kaladin was unable to swear the fourth ideal but was never belittled for it, really gave me so much hope. It helped me realize for the first time that I didn't have to be perfect, and that it was okay to ask for help. When RoW was released, I'd been put on anxiety/depression medication and had consistent therapy sessions, so I was doing a lot better (still am). But his chapters were still so visceral and made me think of myself. Even though I understand why some people think the constant depression chapters were a slog and too much to get through, for me, it was constant validation that it was okay to feel like that for an extended period of time. It helped me realize that sometimes, things don't get better immediately. As long as you keep trying, keep pushing, there is always hope. That's what Kaladin taught me. And of course, the Dog and the Dragon and the Tien chapters made me sob (I still sob through each reread haha). For me, Kaladin really is an inspiration, and is definitely my comfort character, if that makes sense. -
Feruchemy Works on Roshar!
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Daughter of Tanavast's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Thanks Frustration, that was great. Anyway, yeah, I think that it would be interesting to see Hemalurgy running around on Roshar. Problematic, but interesting. -
Guessing Stormlight Book 5 title
Daughter of Tanavast replied to KandraAllomancer's topic in Stormlight Archive
...I like this a lot a lot. Can we get Nohadon's cookbook? Please? We're getting picture books, I think we deserve this cookbook. It could even be formatted like a stereotypical recipe blog with a chunk of text from the Way of Kings (in-universe version) that vaguely relates to the recipe below! -
Feruchemy Works on Roshar!
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Daughter of Tanavast's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Woah, interesting theory Jondesu -- I like it. Although I feel like it would be logistically complicated to get Hemalurgic powers in this situation (doesn't the metal have to go through both the victim and the prospective Hemalurgist at the same time? Maybe Kelsier + the Ghostbloods changed/streamlined the process-- that would be terrifying), as they would have to position everyone perfectly in a potentially crowded, chaotic hallway. Not impossible for the Ghostbloods, of course, but still a complicated process. Even though we don't have much evidence that this was a Hemalurgic operation, I think it's a really cool (and really dangerous) concept to explore. Can you get Hemalurgic powers from a Feruchemist? If not, and Hemalurgy is at play here, could the man have been a Twinborn, depending on when Stormlight takes place on a Scadrian timeline? Sorry haha, I just thought that the theory was really cool. ...also should I tag this with Mistborn spoilers or are we good? -
Feruchemy Works on Roshar!
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Daughter of Tanavast's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Theory: that's actually what happened on Ashyn -
Hey guys! I'm sure this topic has already been discussed in depth (particularly because of Axindweth), but I wanted to add my contribution anyway. I had the opportunity to get a book signed by Brandon, and I was allowed to ask a question for him to write the answer to! So I asked "Could the Terrisman (the one that Lift found dead in the attack on Urithiru) have used feruchemical abilities on Roshar, despite the different types of Investiture present on each planet?" The answer written in my book was "Yes. Feruchemy works on Roshar." I think that's INTRIGUING, especially because, for example, the Ghostbloods (and Kelek) can't get stormlight off of Roshar. My theory for this is that feruchemy works off-world while stormlight doesn't is that it's a completely internal type of magic, as the power comes entirely from one's self if they're born with the ability. Does anyone have any insights or theories or WOBs that apply? Does anyone have any theories for how someone could successfully get stormlight off of Roshar?

What would you name a Shardblade, if you had one?
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Voidspawn's topic in Stormlight Archive
I was thinking something along the lines of Maelstrom. Seems like a cool name for a blade. -
I personally love Shallan and Adolin together. I think that the stability and positivity Adolin provides is perfect for Shallan (even though I know that's already been addressed both positively and negatively), and I think Shallan brings some sense and real-world perspectives into Adolin's life. As has been stated, Adolin never went through anything extremely traumatic as a child, so I think that his relationship with Shallan can teach him a lot. I think Kaladin and Jasnah would be... interesting. Mostly because Kaladin still isn't a fan of lighteyes in powerful positions, and Jasnah happens to be the most powerful lighteyes politically, and she's also extremely powerful with stormlight. At first, I think that Kaladin will treat her with grudging respect, and she won't care too much. Maybe it could progress into a relationship, but who knows? It would definitely be an interesting read. Edit: I will admit that Kaladin has plenty of experience learning to appreciate Kholins, so his relationship with Jasnah could progress more quickly.

Radiant Order Quiz and Order Descriptions
Daughter of Tanavast commented on Paleo's article in Brandon and Book News
So apparently I would be alright in any of the orders... but best suited to Skybreaker and Windrunner. I absolutely loved the little phrases they gave to each order -- I feel like "I will seek justice" and "I will protect" are pretty good for me. -
Game: Cosmere Theory Generator
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Singer's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Someone (probably Lightsong) got bored and Awakened a pair of pants, which ended up traveling in Vasher's pack to Scadrial. Well, Vasher lost the pack. Mistwraiths are searching for their humanity (kandra-manity?) as they wander around consuming dead animals. Mistwraiths can't tell the difference between actual life and Awakened life, so one of them consumed the pants. Chickens on Roshar and Llarimar. -
You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When you see someone that you know likes Sanderson and you absolutely must tell them about your NEW SUPER COOL EXCITING Skybreaker necklace even though you're SUPPOSED to be professional and just hand them food. -
Do we know what type of spren Maya was before she was killed by her radiant? And could Adolin potentially become that type of radiant because of her?

Main character of Rythm of War
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Callsign Radiant's topic in Stormlight Archive
I do kind of hope it's Adolin or Renarin, although I think all of the possibilities listed here are excellent options. Though I feel like with Adolin and Renarin it'll be easier to see the other characters' (Kaladin, Shallan, Dalinar, Navani, Jasnah) progression, as they're both close to each of them. Although I'm very intrigued with the possibility of Rlain as the main character. -
Cosmere Characters in Quarantine
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Renarin Kholin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Adolin would enjoy the time to drink wine and look over some folios, but I think he would get restless pretty quickly. But I think he would be the voice of reason in quarantine, especially if he's there with Kaladin, Shallan, and Dalinar, all of whom would try to leave the house to 'save' people, even though there's really nothing they could do. But Kaladin might get a free pass to leave, as he could actually be useful in dealing with the sickness. -
How do you feel about Kaladin?
Daughter of Tanavast replied to NameIess's topic in Stormlight Archive
As someone who has struggled with depression (although considerably less than Kaladin), I have to say that his struggles feel so real. I get where some people are coming from by thinking that he's too dark and dreary, but I have to say that all of his struggles make sense to me. The sequence in OB where he couldn't swear the fourth oath almost made me cry, because we almost never see characters who fail to save the day at the last minute. I dunno, Kaladin just makes sense to me. Also I really love his hate-to-friendship relationship (at least that's how I see it) with Adolin. Like a lot.- 27 replies

The Diagram was never suposed to work
Daughter of Tanavast replied to DiePie's topic in Stormlight Archive
If the Diagram was never supposed to work, do you think that Taravangian's advisers (like Adrotagia) knew? Or was it all kept a secret by the king (or Cultivation)? I think this theory is really interesting... although I do think that it would be hard for Taravangian to keep this a secret or keep plotting on his less smart days, which seem to be increasing according to OB. -
Lightsong: One of Brandon's Best Characters
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Daughter of Tanavast's topic in Warbreaker
But it makes sense! In my most recent reread I finally realized that one of the things that Lightsong discovered he was amazing at was math. And I think it says that he loved puzzles. Or something along those lines. But anyway, you're completely right-- that reveal is one of my favorite parts in the whole book. It's so shocking to see Llarimar upset, and it's not often that authors completely tear apart their characters' theories (although this is something that Brandon does quite often). -
Lightsong: One of Brandon's Best Characters
Daughter of Tanavast replied to Daughter of Tanavast's topic in Warbreaker
Oh yes! I wanted to make another point about Llarimar but I completely forgot. Llarimar is an incredible character, and I don't think he gets all the credit he deserves. One of my favorite parts in the whole book is in chapter 26, when the two go to Mercystar's palace to investigate the death of the servant. Lightsong is trying to convince one of Mercystar's priests to let him in, and he turns to Llarimar to ask if the priest can deny him. Llarimar responds with "Only at great peril to his soul, Your Grace." Even though Llarimar is a bit confused and maybe exasperated about why Lightsong is investigating the crime, he constantly helps him and even contributes to his humor while trying to intimidate someone. I love both of them. -
I have to say that I think that Lightsong is one of the best characters that Brandon has ever written, not necessarily just based off of his personality. Here's my reasoning: He's likable. Sure, in the first few chapters he felt a little annoying. But as we get to know him, we realize how he's just a genuinely good person with a good sense of humor. He's realistic. I mean, if any of us died and came back only to be proclaimed a god, I doubt we would believe it ourselves. Sure, some people would go for it, but I think most of us would be just a skeptical as Lightsong was. This is something I didn't realize until just barely, during my fourth reread of Warbreaker: his story is so thoroughly thought out, especially for a someone who's one of three main characters and therefore only gets a third of the story. Lightsong, throughout his five year life, was almost completely useless (which is something he confessed to himself). Lightsong didn't start having a clear purpose until the reason that he came back grew closer. As we learn in the book, the Hallendren gods come back to life because they see something in the future that they want to stop or change or ensure. Obviously, Lightsong wanted to prevent the death of the God King. And until that risk grew, he was kind of useless. He didn't think that he had a purpose. But as the threat to the God King and Hallendren, Lightsong grew more and more capable and more and more driven. To me, this shows excellent planning and character development on Brandon's part. It's really hard to write a character that has no idea why he does something, but Brandon pulls it off flawlessly. I don't know if any of my thought process made sense in writing, although it makes perfect sense in my brain. I just wanted to share my thoughts.
