So I just finished Aether of Night and I can't help but wonder are Vae/The Former and Decay the same person? The last chapter makes it seem like it but it also doesn't seem set up that way? Do we have anything confirmed?

The former doesn't offer any useful information about his prison so I didn't mention him(also kinda forgot but now I need a reason for his exclusion) As to the twins not being Shards themselves, that doesn't seem to make much difference in power, as Decay obviously believed they could capture their father.

"Passive" effects of being an Elantrian
Frustration replied to Thunder_93's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
This gives me images of a super pale Elantrian with one of those sun bathing metal plates and getting burned in the process. -
Did you yodel? It's my main question to newcomers.

I like the Crusade Idea, I have no idea how his command would affect it. Of a human United them I would say leadership or perhapse benevolence. Or potentially an Oppenheimer quote modified for the Cosmere "and now I am become death the destroyer of Sel"- 44 replies

Considering we have a dishardaic pool of concentrated power, I don't think ol' not a Shardblade will give you much trouble.- 44 replies

Having just finished Aether of Night earlier this morning I'm finally ready for this. Disclaimer: Booknerd is not responsible for your being imprisoned, accidentally imprisoning yourself, or being splintered by the prisoner/ army of food mystics. (If the food Mystics thing happens it's Hoid's fault) It should be noted by the reader that few Shards have every been captured and of the ones we know of(with the possible exception of Adonalsium) all have been accomplished by other Shards, and probably would best be used as a delay tactic than a permanent solution. Now to begin trapping a shard one must make a prison from their own power or Powers in the case of a tag team. One should note that power inequalities become skewed by prisons of this magnitude. Preservation was able to capture Ruin who at the time was more powerful as well as uncanotically in Aether of Night Decay was able to capture two shards at the same time. Warning in creating this prison you give your prisoner a huge advantage over you as can be seen by both Honor and Preservation being killed and Honor splintered by the shards they captured. Part two being inside a prison. Shardaic prisons vary but most tend to be designed to either seperate one's mind from their power, or push back on any attempt to use ones power. No prison is infallible however and all will eventually allow the prisoner some level of control over the outside world e.g. Ruin, Odium, and everyone in Aether of Night. Please note that escaping is incredibly time consuming so make sure you have a lifetime subscription to your favorite streaming service and thousands of rolls of toilet paper.

I Really Reeaallyy Hate Shallan
Frustration replied to LopentheHerdazian's topic in Stormlight Archive
How are we so similar yet so different I love politics and planning, but Hoid, Lift, and Szeth are my favorites. -
I Really Reeaallyy Hate Shallan
Frustration replied to LopentheHerdazian's topic in Stormlight Archive
There are tons of characters without arcs that I would say are better off for it Tom Bombadil doesn't change and yet he has a full book all to himself. I would honestly be upset is Hoid changes, or Szeth for that matter I enjoy them as they are and don't need them to change. Elantris And so many more I don't need them to change I need them to be. -

And Hoid? -

I'm going to stop you right there. I don't understand why everyone demands change out of there characters, yes it's necessary but it's hardly the make/break point about them. A lot of people love Hoid but what character change has that man made? Szeth is(in my opinion) still the same person he was in the prologue of WoK, yet I love his character anyway. I liked Lift even before she began to change and I could probably read a whole book about her just being Lift(oh wait Edgedanncer exists). Character development is a very important part of a story but it is NOT the pinnacle of a good character. Have you read WoK? Kal had it way worse than little miss oh a memory from when I was four is breaking me apart because normal people can remember that when their seventeen!! Not to mention the fact that not having thought about it in years should overcome even relatively decent memories! Kal literally has watched time and time again everyone he loves perish. His squad, untold numbers of slaves, bridge four, and most recently the wall guard/parshman conflict. Can you honestly tell me that what Shallan went through is as bad as what Kal dealt with? -
Welcome to the shard @jammy627 you have done everything right as far as I can tell for posting here good job.
