  1. True, what brought you back?
  2. None of the other Honorbearers do things that are unusual for their orders. And Szeth comments that their powers are odd, even for him before the honorbearers became human fused.
  3. Yeah, if you had the power of the Well of Ascension
  4. Breath strength variance is largely minimal, though the health of the holder does impact it, but there is a baseline to it.
  5. Well there are a couple of reasons for them to take this role. The first is that in almost every other role they are outclassed by someone else. The second is that their access to Fortune actually does make them more suitable for this role than anyone else. Just like the Truthwatcher Honorbearer used Szeth's voices against him, their ability to use an enemy general's weakness against them would be invaluable. Well only a few can actually just smite people, and probably only those they have a Connection too. Shards also probably gain some benefit from their followers as basically all conflicts between them involve the mortals in some way or another.
  6. Well, Isles will explain what the Grand Apparatus is
  7. Indeed, I'd say we need to bring the gang back together but the vast majority are inactive now.
  8. I feel like his boon was people can only see him if they're looking for him, and his curse is that he can only touch people who are trying to kill him. It's impossible to say for certain, but the way it was phrased in the book makes me think that. Unclear, but given what the Sibling can do, her upper limits are extreme Well typically people ask for their boon, though they might get something a little different than what they asked for.
  9. Continuing off of my other thread I thought it would be interesting to do a comparison of Odium's army, with that of the Radiants from the same time, looking into how they are organized as well as the ways that they are used. Shardaic influence and large spren: Heralds: The Heralds all possess the powers of Roshar, giving them insane strength and speed, along with the surges of their patron orders. Likewise during the desolations they were directly powered by Honor, which gave them free access to Stormlight without a Highstorm. I will only list Cazekiller coefficients for them unless the particular Herald has something else of important note. Radiants: by oath level Probably 5-6 Easily dozens See Szeth easily over 300, I'll say close to 400 Easily low thousands Too little information Others of note In total the Radiant forces during the desolations are the single most formidable army in the entirety of the Cosmere, and nothing even comes close. I fail to see how such a force would struggle against any other for any considerable length of time.
  10. Five hundred years is a long time, they were forced into exile and don't have any immortals around to keep that information. When Vivienna finds out about it she's shocked. It's genuinely something they aren't aware of. While I personally don't see giving up a breath as much different than an organ transplant there are countries IRL that view cash payments for organ donations to be exploitative and have outlawed the practice. While I personally disagree with that view and think that it hurts more than it helps, I can see the moral reasoning behind why they think that way.
  11. I can see a mild ignorance in that black and brown colors can fuel awakening, but I can't see anything hypocritical about it.
  12. Actually, they do have their own languages. Cryptics are probably most famous as their language use clicking sounds, Lightspren use vibrations through metal to communicate and there are several other spren languages. Huh, interesting. I had always viewed those more as codes than actual languages.
  13. Could ypu explain more?
  14. It's Church lingo. Basically in the Old Testament Babylon is used as a symbolic representation both for the glory of the world, and for the sins of the world, due to the city of Babylon being one of the wealthiest as well as most morally bankrupt cities in the world at that time. Used as I did it means that there is a culture that permits and spreads moral impurity, greed or has a corrupting influence.
  15. His username is also a blood-red. Holy smokes, a five day win is unacceptable. What has this thread come to?
  16. What's wrong with Iridian monks?
  17. There are a handful of Ardents that discuss this question in WoK. From what we've seen a lot of food comes from other planets that have canning and other forms of food preservation. Because spren exist off of human thought, they don't have languages of their own and speak the same languages that humans do at the corresponding point in the PR, because that's the languages that the humans there think in. Yes, manifesting causes an object itself to appear in the CR, so you would have a real table, rather than one made of beads. The horneaters don't stop off worlders from going through, they might charge tolls, but travel is allowed.
  18. You know what, I'm not waiting until July.

    America month starts now.

No, in commemoration of the 250th anniversary we're doing 2.5 months this year.

June, July, and half of August.

I just decided to start early, like those people who put their Christmas lights up in October, except I'm only going to do this once.

Well in 2076 I'll do something cool

  19. There were other Edgedanncers though none of them stirred or remained awake. Lift however was unable to use Abrasion, only Progression worked.
  20. All sorts of things. Right now a short story about ninjas, and despite what my writing group calls it, it isn't a Ninjago rip off. They have lightsabers. The rules for the contest I'm working on submitting it for say it has to have a maximum of 9 pages, I think it'll probably be closer to 12 but I'll look into cutting it down later. At the same time I'm outlining a mesoamerican inspired epic fantasy, but that one has a lot of problems still.
  21. I've recently noticed an uptick in the amount of interest in the double eye chart, especially as it relates to Truthwatchers due to their position opposite of the Bondsmiths. And indeed I think this is warranted. And I intend to look into it. Now going over Truthwatchers, first I want to go over their position on the chart, and in particular the orders connected to them. They sit in the position opposite the Bondsmtih, while also standing between Edgedanncers and Lightweavers, just as Bondsmiths are between Stonewards and Windrunners. Why do I bring this up? Because I often took too long looking at the comparison between Windrunners and Edgedanncers, each having a spren named after one of the Shards, Honorspren and Cultivation spren, together with Lift being able to use Progression while under Urithiru's suppression to believe that Progression is Cultivation's truest surge, and what made Truthwatchers special. And while I do still believe Progression to be Cultivation's truest surge, I no longer believe it to be what truly makes Truthwatchs tick. Instead I want to propose that the upper and lower halves of the chart are not simply opposites, but mirrored. It is not the surge they share with Edgedanncers that makes Truthwatchers special, but the one they share with Lightweavers. In WaT Szeth makes the following observation He calls Truthwatchers the oddest of the orders, something usually reserved for Bondsmiths, and the surge used immediately afterwards is that of Illumination. Additionally what this Honorbearer demonstrates for us is clearly the power of Fortune, seeing things as they are and as they could be. The only other order that is described with this attribute is that of the Lightweavers. Indeed we can see other examples of this such as the Truthwatcher who wrote the following in the gem archive I therefore propose that just as Bondsmiths hold the powers of Connection, Truthwatchers hold the powers of Fortune.
  22. Theoretically yes, but anything they touched would also be affected, so it wouldn't really have much of an impact
  23. Oh, you mean using an image as the search term. Doing some research most of my previous browser search engine recommendations don't support that. It's not something I'm super familiar with, but I did find something. It's called tineye and the fact that I only found out about it because of a Brandon Sanderson site is beyond funny to me https://tineye.com/ Does this work?
  24. Yeah, Google's web crawlers are the best when it comes to images and it's not close. I'd recommend Startpage. It sources the results from Google anonymously so the end results should be the same, except for where Google gives more personalized results based on previous search history. https://support.startpage.com/hc/en-us/articles/4480404660628-Make-Startpage-your-default-search-engine-in-Firefox I do end up having to do a lot of "prove you aren't a bot" when I use it, so keep that in mind.
  25. Ah, I see. There is another. Mozilla VPN($59.88/yr) https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/products/vpn/ And a built in Firefox VPN(free) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/built-in-vpn Looks like the built in one is free, but it's just for the browser, not your entire computer, though they claim to not log your traffic other than the amount of data used and if a connection was successful or not, not the actual sites you visit. That'd probably work just fine for you.
