[Poll] [Discuss] Did Jasnah do the right thing?
Frustration replied to Szeth Pancakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
No, she isn't Renarin, she excpected someone to jump her, that is not the same. No, she did not, she knew they frequented the area, but she did not know they were there. And that changes things? I'm not certain of the inherent morality of wanting a situation to happen- 249 replies

[Poll] [Discuss] Did Jasnah do the right thing?
Frustration replied to Szeth Pancakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
No, not provoke an attack, if you are attacked you are given free reign to do as you please until the situation ends. So does only transforming part of an object You aren't trapped in a pit half your height. She has transformation not cohesion, at the beach you have sand that goes down far further but you won't sink an inch. Her surges do not help as much as you think they do, if she had cohesion, or gravitation she could have done something, transformation is a lot more dangerous than most people give it credit. I'm ok with that. I will respect that opinion. I find flaws with all of those options, none are quite so harmless as you might think. On topic of premeditaion, if someone breaks into my house in the middle of the night I will do my best to kill them, have I just premeditated murder?- 249 replies

[Poll] [Discuss] Did Jasnah do the right thing?
Frustration replied to Szeth Pancakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
Tripping doesn't add 40-60+ some odd pounds of weight onto an individual, and prevent them from using their arms. Would you like to be put in a straightjacket with 45 pounds of metal strapped to your chest while pushed at six miles an hour straight into a stone floor? Murder is a legal term and does not apply, and secondly legality and morality are not the same thing.- 249 replies

[Poll] [Discuss] Did Jasnah do the right thing?
Frustration replied to Szeth Pancakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
Turning their cloths to metal or stone would drop them face first at high speeds into the ground, at minimum you are looking at a broken nose, at most their just dead. Making a block around their legs, stops their legs in motion instantly, likely breaking them, and throw their upper half forward violently causing sevier pain at most, and killing them at worst. Turning the ground beneath them to tar increases the already large demand on stormlight as tar is not one of the essences. Even so I would consider them still part of the initial confrontation. Jasnah's innocents is of no concern of mine, I don't particularly like her, I think she was better in WoK prime, however in this specific instance I find it difficult to find fault with what she did.- 249 replies

You can never be certain. What method of subduing them would you recommend that is more humane than instant painless death? Well first off I doubt she had the stormlight on her to actually make that work, and even if she did he would break his legs or die of brain truama from dropping into a pit large enough to hold him. If an angery mob charges you, open fire.- 249 replies

Words of Radiance, despite being the flashback book of the only character in fantasy I can truely say I've hated, the action and combat at the forefront of this book brings it to the surface 2.Probably Rhythm of War but the last three are all realy close, with this one and the third being closer. Rhythm of war has the most lackluster fights, and some horrible pretended stakes, as well as the worst handlings of Kaladin's depression in the whole series, but the sheer amount of worldbuilding, and Brandon finally learning how to handle Shallan make up for it. 3.Oathbringer was possibly the best book for my first read, but rereading it is such a drag which really hurts it, from "The Spear That Would Not Break." on it's just impossible to put the book down, which is what gives it the slight edge over number 4 4.The Way of Kings unfortunetly gets the bottom of the barrel, which is sad because it has a lot of things going for it, the best prolouge, an amazing Prelude and some genuine wonder and good fights. However, everything it does one of the other books does better, and Shallan spends the whole book messing up the flow of the story. -

Someone can run to get reinforcements and are thus still a combatant. Murder is a legal term and one which does not apply It's an annual holiday lasting between Peter Ahlstroms birthday and Brandon's birthday- 249 replies

Frustration replied to Szeth Pancakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes, you can never be certain why someone is running, it could be to save themselves, or it could be to bring others into the fight, or to move to a more advantageous position. So long as the individual who was initially attacked believes them to still be an active threat it is within their rights to kill them.- 249 replies

Being anylitical does not prevent you from acting out of instinct. They did not provoke the interaction, and their lives were in danger, they are allowed to use lethal force in that situation, nothing else matters.- 249 replies

[Poll] [Discuss] Did Jasnah do the right thing?
Frustration replied to Szeth Pancakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
Form percpective Jasnah did not have a lot of time to internalize that information, if I was put in the same circumstances I can't say I wouldn't have killed them before fully realising they were fleeing, or that they weren't trying to get others, or seeking a better oportunity to attack me. It isn't hunting if they attack you. In the listed scenario the individual did not find criminals and kill them, they waited got attacked and used lethal force in the preservation of their own life.- 249 replies

[Poll] [Discuss] Did Jasnah do the right thing?
Frustration replied to Szeth Pancakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
They did in fact make a direct attempt on her life, that's why they had the knives in the first place. And while that situation lasts they have given themselves into her judgement. lets do a bit of process of illimination here. Is actively making yourself look weaker or more vulnerable illegal or immoral? No. Is killing individuals in self defence illegal or immoral? No. Therefore so long as it is the other individual that starts the confrontation what they are doing is acceptable.- 249 replies

[Poll] [Discuss] Did Jasnah do the right thing?
Frustration replied to Szeth Pancakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
Not really, she can only heal for the stormlight she has. And even so, she was attacked that constitutes enough of a threat for her to kill. And she definetly felt them a threat, you can look at the deleted PoV she has in WoR she is rocked to her core at being stabbed. So how is that not protecting herself? Or at the very least Shallan? Because she's Jasnah- 249 replies

Why are twinborn resonances weaker than radiants?
Frustration replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
I would say that more power is what makes the resonances more pronounced, and the reason more powers makes less resonances is the difference between strength of power and number of powers. -
@Robin Hatter you changed your pfp. Also halloween was two months ago

I have a list. Totally could, I would actually pay good money to see that fight go down.

[Poll] [Discuss] Did Jasnah do the right thing?
Frustration replied to Szeth Pancakes's topic in Stormlight Archive
There is no potentially about it, the fault of WW1 lies with Serbia, Austria, and to a much lesser extent Russia. Germany was actually trying to prevent the war from spreading in the first place. No, the argument is that anyone can for any reason enter any public space. And that if someone is attacked unjustly they have a right to defend themselves. So the active murderers and rapists aren't responsible for their own actions? How can you make that ruling? Are you insinuating that if unattack Jasnah would have found some random bum and killed them?- 249 replies
