  1. Oh shoot Rev left yesterday.

    Bye Rev!

  2. Wartime manufacturers are not civilians. There's a reason we call it war industry. They are an extension of the military, ask any army recruiter, they have positions in all fields, including manufacturing.
  3. Isek looked up at the large creature fighting the other two acolytes. He felt like he should know what it was, he had probably studied it, but nothing leaped out to him. "Well, I should probably help them." Isek crouched down, fish feet forming metal hooks that dig into the stone, while his legs morphed into large springs. He formed a winch and used his magic to spin it, compressing the springs, creating a massive buildup of tension. Judging the distance, Isek aimed, feeling the enormous power beneath him. Then he let go, the springs released, and he was sent flying.
  4. Warcrimes are not set in stone, they are laws, ones which Roshar doesn't have. And even if they did Skybreakers would be more concerned about not breaking them than windrunners.
  5. Honorplate doesn't exist. No. Painspren work because painspren give warform, and Brandon has noted that forms and platespren align to some degree.
  6. Isek heard powerful breathing to his side, and out of the corner of his eye he spotted the outline of a large feline. It was almost invisible, and if he hadn't been listening he might have missed it. The creature was crouched down, waiting to pounce. Not giving himself time to think Isek held out his hand, thick chains flying from his palm, wrapping around the creatures neck, where the links melted forming a sturdy collar. The beast stood in surprise, but Isek knew that it wouldn't be enough, concentrating he willed the collar to grow spikes pointing in, driving deep into the creatures neck. It's roar of pain little more than a wet gurgle the creature fell over, red gore leaking out from the collar. Isek pulled hard reabsorbing the metal into himself, and continued towards the mountain.
  7. If they are making weapons they aren't innocent. And none of the Oaths mention innocence.
  8. The spren have wars between themselves, like when the Honorspren tried to take over Shadesmar. Additionally war would draw angerspren, which are considered enough of a threat that even Nahel spren go armed in case one shows up. I don't think we have confirmation.
  9. The only way Atium would work the way you are implying is if it locked your oponents future so they couldn't react to your changes, but we've seen that's not the case. And any reaction splits shadows, meaning your plans don't matter. It's not a matter of training, neurons can only fire so fast, those are limitations of physics.
  10. "Begin." The words came from Death but Isek felt them. Isek stepped forward, slow, consistent. Like a sliding mountain of metal. Tools were made of metal, and they didn't ask why they were set to a task they merely did it. And so he climbed.
  11. To the death, or at least done in a competition. The guy in the far right didn't give a dedicated attack until his partner had been eliminated. I am not saying it would be useless, I am saying that it is not an auto-win, or even an insurmountable advantage, any slight difference will swing the pendulum back the other way. All else being equal but one guys has atium, sure he will win, but that's not what this thread is about. I am saying that Atium as presented in the books would not produce the effects shown. The books say if you are burning atium you are practically immortal and there's nothing that can be done to you, but that is not what seeing 2-3 seconds into the future would do. And I was able to complete a spear-thrust in less than a second. That was actually, I checked. And if you get attacked indoors? SA
  12. That's not what the mere knowledge would get you. The spear will enter your chest long before you complete that spin. And skill has very hard limits SA
  13. Forgive me for being pedantic but that hardly counts as a duel. Stepping back only gets you impaled on the other guys spear, same as to the sides. But it's not the lead up to the fight. You can't foresee the fight and then choose the location. The books prove nothing if the argument is that the books are flawed. Anything you describe can be done by a skilled fighter. Atium would add finesse, but it's not a super-weapon.
  14. They have one second to prepare and so they can in less than a second move so far that neither thrust will hit them while also resetting their position so they can do it again? In less than a second? They see seconds into the future, not minutes. I'll have to look into this. Knowledge is nothing without ability.
  15. Your opponents can take twice as many hits as you, hit twice as often as you, effectively move twice as fast as you, and you can only hit one at once. Fighting two people at once isn't twice as hard as fighting one person it's easily 4-8 times as hard.
  16. Reverse lashings can affect bullets, and even pull someone's head off. And why would the lashing need to be anchored?
  17. The time between the start of the thrust and the finish doesn't give you the opportunity to get out of the way. Anyone can win any fight if you give them enough of an advantage. That's why I specified duels, as in both sides having the same equipment. Unnecessary, you only need it to where someone of the Seers physical abilities can't survive. Who are these people?
  18. But what happens if you pull the Mistborn away from their anchor? Mostly because it isn't useful in the sky.
  19. Because they can step to the side just as easily as you can, and they have cut off escape to the front and back. And how would you deflect a blow coming from behind? Your arm can only go back so far. Backed against a wall, and unable to out muscle an inquisitor, yes I do believe that occurred. I also believe the only reason she survived was that they needed her alive to remove her father from his position. Hey, 2 vs 1. Something that is just about impossible to win. So far as I know no human has ever defeated two opponents at once in a duel. So that's just about impossible.
  20. Vin hiding from the Inquisitor in Kredik Shaw. But that doesn't mean that a 2v1 wouldn't work. You can block one strike, and dodging isn't an option. How do you avoid being hit?
  21. Era 1 is 300 years before era 2 so during OB Harmony has been around for 290 years. That totally works.
  22. So if they see you move they will act on you moving rather than their initial attack, ruining your Atium shadows. And the entire premise of the thread is that the books described mechanics should not lead to it's described outcomes. And if you're inside and against a wall? Have you ever tried to get out of being surrounded without getting hit? One on either side is more than enough. It's just not possible given human abilities.
  23. Hey, you are making weapons to use against my friends, best way to save them is to kill you. Basic risk management. Not intense, both sides were upset by the trade thinking they were getting the short end, and Allik provided Marasi hers directly.
  24. Oh, hey this is a thread about why that's bad writing. If you can't block it how do you deflect it? And with pewter by the time you back up another strike is coming. And then you're locked into retreating, unable to make headway. You get into those situations when on patrol and Cett sends a group of allomancers for you, or when you charge an army of Koloss, or try to break into Kredik Shaw, or rescue Elendel from a group of allomancers intent on killing him. That was more than I thought.
