Yeah. He needs to go. He is no longer even working for the interests of Jah Keved anymore. They need a King desperately

Minor Characters you want to see promoted
Wintersu replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
I would also love Rysn to get promoted. Specifically, I think she’s make a great second Willshaper. Her desire to explore and try new things makes her a good candidate, IMO. Don’t know if I want a full size dragon for her to ride, but the idea is cool Also, I really think Rock is going to be a big player. I’ve seen the idea of him being King of the Horneaters, and I love it -
I have theorized loudly and often that the Herdazian general is a Dustbringer. I’ve also guessed that one of the reasons Kaladin is on his mission at the beginning of Rhythm is that he’s there to extract the general and bring him back to Urithiru Lets look at what we know. The general is really good at slipping manacles. And he is obviously very brave, in a very Herdazian fashion My opinion is that we are seeing him ‘slick’ his hands, without having it described that way in book. That surge, Abrasion, is shared by Edgedancers and Dustbringers. Also, the primary attribute of the Dustbringers is Bravery Those two things are what I am basing my theory on. Now, that isn’t a super conclusive verdict, but to me it’s solid enough that him being a Dustbringer makes sense I will say that the most likely alternative would be for him to a Stoneward. However, for that to be the case he would need to be stretching out his manacles. While possible, they aren’t described as distended or warped when he’s finished escaping them So, I’m going to stick with Dustbringer baring further info

I do think there is more to find out about Progression. Whether or not what you are hypothesizing happens or not, we don’t fully realize it’s capacity yet When Renarin heals Adolin, and when Ym interacts with people, it seems like they can ‘see’ something about the person I theorize that it’s the way Illumination interacts with Progression for Truthwatchers Still, lots to learn

I think Rhythm of War will feature plate. Probably when Kaladin takes the 4th Ideal. We’ll know after that

Only when Jasnah comes to help Shallan, the version of her with plate on turns out to be the real one (as real as Shallan gets, anyway) Shallan’s mental blocks make her much less capable than she would be otherwise It works thematically, but makes her annoying (IMO, I realize that she is some people’s favorite) Edit: Also, it just occurred to me, she should be covered in creation spren with all that Lightweaving. And she is... literally

He mentioned 1% is 4000 words, and he’s behind right now. I imagine he’s making a push to get back on track
-
Because he keeps doing it! Brainless to a fault. My biggest gripe with how the Knight are operating is their lack of regard for squires. That NEEDS to be something they’re good at, and they get ignored most of the time

I’ve been talking to a number of people on Reddit, and this is what I think now. So, replace Dalinar with Adolin. I think Lift will also be with that group, but not as a main character. Personally, I think she’ll be a main character for the second five books, but remain a side character for now Jasnah does have Queen work to do. Really I just want her to be involved in an Aimia exploration, but I don’t have any logic to base that on. It would be cool. The Tertiary cast is the one that is the most mystifying. Could be a lot of things. Could be Moash and Naln for all I know. Most of our main characters have coalesced into one area, so your guess is as good as mine
-
After some consideration, I’ve changed my mind to Arc 1: Kaladin, Adolin, Shallan, Szeth Arc 2: Venli, Rlain, Eshonai as flashback Arc 3: Jasnah, and someone else. (I just want Jasnah to do an Aimia expedition)
-
Brandon just gave an update on Reddit! Check it out. He mentioned that 1% is roughly 4000 words
-
So, according to the update Brandon did just barely, there will be three arcs of the story. The Primary Arc, four characters: Dalinar, Kaladin, Shallan, Szeth This will be the ‘main’ story, continuing on with the core characters we’ve seen so far The Secondary Arc, three characters that aren’t all together all the time, but the story has a lot to do with each other: Venli, Rlain, Eshonai? I think this will be the Willshaper part of the story. It seems like with Eshonai being the flashback character, this would make sense Tertiary Arc, two characters off by themselves: Jasnah and Ash Because who better to explor Aimia than Jasnah and a Herald? The number of arcs and characters in each Arc was specified by Sanderson. The rest is me speculating (for all those that haven’t read his post)

Dalinar has synergies with the other Orders, for certain. We’ve only seen him do it with Lightweaving, but I bet there’s more. I don’t recall an example of Knights linking powers, but Shallan did see what Jasnah was doing with Soulcasting and try to imitate it. I’d love to see them trying it again when Shallan isn’t falling over tired
-
I don’t know where Sanderson is going with Rock. Right after Rock kills Amaram, Kaladin wonders to himself that there is No Way he could have pulled the Shardbow. Will Rock end up being a Windrunner? He’s currently a squire, but Sanderson has said its possible to become of a different Order after squiring for one. Very interested to see what happens to him

In the dream sequence when Nohadon is older, he mentions that he walked to the caverns of Urithiru. Those caverns are also mentioned when Shallan scares off the midnight mother. They find the cave system down to the valley Taking both of those into consideration, I would say it was already on the Mountaintop when Nohadon walked there

Why? I’m being serious here. Let’s say that the humans from however many thousand years ago were evil. Despite the fact we know that not all of them were. Even if they were all evil, how does that make it right to murder innocents today? How is anyone responsible for the actions of the past? How about the people that never bought or sold Singers? Innocents that never owned another individual in their entire lives? Your response just strikes me as extreme. Anytime the knee jerk reaction is ‘KILL THEM ALL’ I think a closer look needs to be taken at your own biases. Regardless of what the author writes An example, in the real world, would be the Arabic slave trade, capturing 17 MILLION slaves. That’s not even counting the descendants of slaves. Many of whom ended up in the Americas as slaves. I would never advocate killing modern Arabs based on that. Anyone who does is psychopathic

I got Bondsmith, 82% On another test, I got Elsecaller So, I’ve said this before, and I’m sure I’ll say it again, but I don’t think these tests are accurate. Yet. The list of Orders we know little about, or only know partially, is rather long Orders we know almost nothing about: Stonewards Willshapers Dustbringers Truthwatchers - the only prominent Truthwatcher so far is Renarin. He is not a standard Truthwatcher Orders we know a little about: Bondsmiths - Dalinar has no idea what he’s capable of. Still discovering powers. Also, we dont know where his Oaths are going to lead. Also, will the other two be exactly the same? Elsecallers - I have questions here. Mostly what’s been shown in Jasnah’s powers is Soulcasting. We’ve heard from her a little on how she sees the world, but we don’t know the Oaths We have been shown most of the others, but there are still unknowns My point is, the results of these tests are going to be dramatically different once we know the Ideals and styles of the Orders. Things that are mostly unknown

I think he’s a Dustbringer, and he was stuck in an interlude so that we’d have an idea who he is in Rhythm of War. The Dustbringers need a good representative, not just Malata. Also Sanderson has mentioned that there will be more Dustbringers in the next book. I think the only way Herdaz held out for a whole year is with the help of Surgebinders. I bet he’s got a group of squires helping him out
-
I am going to guess that in the year between Oathbringer and Rhythm of War that another Herald has been killed. A race to find heralds before they are knocked off would be interesting
-
I absolutely think you’re right. However, we don’t know a large amount about all the modern countries yet, so we can only make educated guesses. I’ll make a couple Shin: They seem to be hyper focused on farming Vedenar: Seems focused on culture/religion. They are often mentioned as being much more religious than the Alethi
-
I am most definitely speculating. Really, that’s all we can do until Sanderson gives us a definite answer. I’m just noticing a trend, and Jasnah isn’t fitting it. This very well could be the entire reason we haven’t seen a squire from her. I do love that all the Orders are developing their own feel. I’ve said this before (on Reddit), but the number one piece of advice I would give Dalinar would be to have ALL his Knights take people on to be Squires, and see what happens. The more Radiants the better
-
I did a quick search in the forum and couldn’t find anything else on this topic, but if I missed anything let me know. I’m looking at some order’s ability to gain squires, and noticed a distinct lack of Elsecaller squires We have a report from Shallan that some Orders are individualistic. I think that applies very much to Bondsmiths, as they must bond with specific spren. It’s looking like that also applies to Elsecallers Lets look at the orders we’ve seen in action so far. Windrunners: This order is a special case, but some members of bridge 4 start drawing in Stormlight almost immediately after Kaladain makes it to the 3rd Ideal. Lopen is a specific ‘on screen’ example. Lightweavers: Vathah becomes a squire, not even remotely on purpose. After working with Shallan for some time, at Urithiru and Kolinar, he draws in Stormlight completely by accident. All it took was time to spend working by Shallan (a Lightweaver of a high enough Ideal) towards the same goal, and he becomes a squire. Skybreakers: A little different, but this is the only order to maintain the traditions of the past. Similar to the other two orders we’ve talked about, applicants are first directed to work alongside a Skybreaker of sufficient rank, following their orders exactly. After completion of their tasks to the Skybreakers satisfaction, they are directed to begin taking Ideals and becoming Squires So, in all cases the first step to being a squire is to do what the Stormfather describes as ‘drawing near to Radiance’. Now let’s look at Elsecallers, i.e. Jasnah. She is definitely at least to the third Ideal. I would say definitely the fourth Ideal. High enough rank. She has a number of scholars and Ardents working under her direction for quite some time, researching in the crystal records room (forgot the exact name) No one ever becomes a squire. So, I theorize (and I realize this may be proved incorrect) that the order of Elsecallers can’t have squires, and they are one of the very individualistic and independent orders.
