In the last update he said mid to late summer. He could decide to do it sooner, but the time he gave is ~2 months out

He mentioned, in the last update and in Germany?, that he’s behind schedule and is trying to catch up

What happens if Yelig-nar possesses a herald?
Wintersu replied to bxcnch's topic in Stormlight Archive
To ‘Share each other’s pain’. While Taln did hold it together alone at the end, they did support each other until then. People need each other. We aren’t solitary creatures by instinct. We operate better together. -
I’m on the Keanu Reeves is awesome train, but the man is just too old to play a ~20 year old Why not just get an Asian actor to play him? A young Ken Watanabe or similar? There are plenty of young men in Korea, Japan, and China that can act and speak almost flawless English. Heck, there are loads of young men in the US that fit the bill. Then the casting would make more sense

Brandon mentioned that the next SA novella will be Rock going home after Oathbringer. Which, I am seriously looking forward to But, this would also be a cool story to hear. I personally missed it more than seeing ‘the wedding’

I’ll admit that the Dustbringers are very interesting to me (so much so that the Dustbringer symbol very nearly went on my profile) and I really look forward to seeing more of them I am not sure what I think about Lirin being one. I’d have to actually see it happen before going one way or the other. That said, it’s not something I expect to happen I am very much on board with the Herdazian general being a Dustbringer, and I may have started that theory, though someone very well could have come up with it before I did That’s who I’d like to see be a Dustbringer in this next book

Taln regains his lucidity/sanity for a moment because of Dalinar
Wintersu replied to Wintersu's topic in Stormlight Archive
Actually, I’ve been thinking there will be a second Bondsmith in book 5 as well. I like the (rather tinfoilly) theory that Rock or Rlain could be a Bondsmith. Just cause it would be cool, as opposed to anything else Mostly, I’d like to see Singers become part of all the Orders. To me that is achieving Unity -
Yes, there is definitely more to the Recreance. I think it’s possible that the Recreance happened as a combination of three events. The two mentioned, Honor raving about the end of the world and the enslavement of the Parsh, but also it’s possible the destruction of Stormseat happened then as well. I have no proof of when Stormseat was destroyed, but if it happened then it would make sense as another straw on the camels back

Taln regains his lucidity/sanity for a moment because of Dalinar
Wintersu replied to Wintersu's topic in Stormlight Archive
Agreed, so far as the exact quote is that it’s ‘tied’ to Dalinar. Despite the fact that we’ve had the Bondsmith book already, we know very little about what they can do. And the more we learn, the cooler it is. I suspect we’ll get another big dose about Bondsmiths in book 5, but that’s a ways off -
Taln regains his lucidity/sanity for a moment because of Dalinar

A bunch of people already do that, so I don’t see how much that changes the political situation -
Taln regains his lucidity/sanity for a moment because of Dalinar
Wintersu replied to Wintersu's topic in Stormlight Archive
Indeed, but those are the political ramifications. If no one believes, there would only be personal ramifications Dalinar, Jasnah, and Navani I am sure would love to pick his brain. I can see Dalinar in particular coming to depend on his advice. Taln seems like the type he would like to have -
Taln regains his lucidity/sanity for a moment because of Dalinar
Wintersu replied to Wintersu's topic in Stormlight Archive
As we’ve seen, Heralds are afforded a Saint-like status in Rosharan society. Having a lucid Herald in Urithiru at Dalinar’s side would at the least get the immediate attention of the worlds monarchs, and quite possibly the populace at large. Along with that, would probably raise, instantly, the respect afforded the new Knights Radiance The Makabaki peoples, in particular, could go all in on with Dalinar. Who knows, it might even get the Iri to rethink their alliance -

This had not occurred to me, and I love it. -
Taln regains his lucidity/sanity for a moment because of Dalinar
Wintersu replied to Wintersu's topic in Stormlight Archive
The question is: Speaking of Taln, I have a little question: Is Taln's brief moment of lucid tied to Dalinar/Dalinar's powers? -
Taln regains his lucidity/sanity for a moment because of Dalinar
Wintersu replied to Wintersu's topic in Stormlight Archive
There will be plenty of focus on Singers, but it’s safe to assume it won’t be just that. There are 3 main plot lines, or character groupings, and one of those is definitely singers. The others will continue with the main characters so far The back half will be a heavier focus on Heralds, but I would be shocked if Taln and Ash just disappear for two whole books -
I have no idea why this is significant. I read Way of Kings and Words of Radiance right before Oathbringer came out. Care to explain?

Brandon mentions Adolin needs to decide his Ideals
Wintersu replied to Wintersu's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is the potentially huge implementation. It would change the way Spren view the new Knights, and lead to an enormous increase in bonds of all orders -
I think the 4th Ideal, like the 3rd Ideal, will be individualistic. But the basic idea will be accepting responsibility for those they can protect. For Kaladin, that means accepting he can’t save everyone

Brandon mentions Adolin needs to decide his Ideals
Wintersu replied to Wintersu's topic in Stormlight Archive
He’s been discussing who in the Cosmere could hold Mjolnir. I quoted him talking about Adolin specifically, but he’s discussed some others as well -
While we’ve been discussing Kaladins love life ad nauseam, Brandon has been over on Reddit saying some cool stuff. Here’s a tidbit from earlier this week, but he’s posted a couple times in the last hour Quote: I'd say that Adolin needs to decide what his ideals are. He's in a confusing stage for himself, because deep down, he can't decide what man he wants to be. Is he an inferior version of his father, or is he someone else, who needs to find his own way? Settling this question is going to be vital to Adolin in coming years. /quote Now, he didn’t just say that Adolin will be taking ideals, but it’s an interesting word choice. Also, it tells us what internal struggle Adolin will be dealing with in future. I personally expect Adolin to continue to play a larger role. I look forward to some POV from him

I, obviously, have no way of knowing if you’re wrong. I will say this, though, it is possible that he’s changed his mind on where the Lopen novella takes place. I want Rysn to become a Willshaper. I think it fits her personality perfectly, and I’d like to see Singers and Humans both bonding each type of Spren. My hope would be to to see her start the Journey somehow. Even if it’s just meeting a spren I definitely would rather have a Stormlight novella. Just my opinion
-
This would be right after Dalinar brings Lopen (and all the other Bridgemen) into his camp. It’s also when Lopen starts really gathering Herdazians if I remember correctly. It could be a look inside Herdazian culture that we haven’t had before. Obviously a lot of conjecture on my part

You’re not wrong. I was referring specially to Stormlight Archive.

Yesterday Sanderson was quite active over on Reddit, and answered many questions on a variety of topics. Including the amount of Shin spread throughout Roshar (more than I thought) But, one bit of news I am excited about is this bit on new Novellas in the Stormlight Archive First, what Sanderson said he was writing on his Germany trip, and the question afterward: Sanderson: “I suppose I shouldn't be coy, as there aren't many stories this could be. Yes, it's a sequel to Sixth of the Dusk. I've spoken about wanting to do one. Unfortunately, I only had time to get a little ways into it. I suspect I'll pick it back up on the flight to Spain in July. And if I don't finish it then, I have another long haul flight in October to visit France then Israel. It's generally hard to do Stormlight on flights like that; the books are too intricate, and the distractions too multitudinous. But novellas tend to work, so we'll see if I can get this one done on these trips.” The question from ArgentSun: “Huh, it (sic) had assumed Rock's or Rysn's novella would be your airplane project. I guess taking a break from Stormlight by doing more Stormlight doesn't really work. Can you share your current plan for these two too?” And the response: “Still hoping to do both of them sometime this year, but we'll see. I would hate for Edgedancer to be the only X.5 novella for Stormlight. Feels more right if I can get those, and the Lopen one happening between books one and two, done some day soon. The Rock one kind of needs to happen, so we'll see. I need to get back on schedule with the main book first, though. That takes precedence over all of these smaller projects.” A question from Hermit: “This may be too much to ask. For Rock's, is this a prequel in his homeland? Post Oathbringer, coming to terms with his actions? Something different all together maybe.. I find either very exciting.” And the response: ”It is post Oathbringer, involving him returning to his homeland.” So! Three new novellas at some point. 1. Lopen, between WoK and WoR. 2. Rock, after Oathbringer but before Rhythm ( Super hype!!!) 3. Rysn, no more info on this one. I would love it to be between Oathbringer and Rhythm as well Also, it sounded to me like the first one written will be Rock’s novella. King Rock?
