I know she did not I said she treated it like one. IE Shallen felt that Jasnah was doing an intro to philosophy lecture involving the death of four people(I know she is wrong).

Tracking fabrials for tagging people, animals or merchandise. Immovable doors that don't move unless drained or shattered. A couple of extraordinarily nasty war machines(conjoiners drop on end off the cliff inside a boulder point the other end at the enemy phalanx). Floating castles. Security systems with warners.

She said she would not chase them if they ran. She offered them work. I doubt that freeing slaves is a concept that Shallan is familiar with. Assuming she payed them like she said she would they will be free in a few months. Also she needed to add people to her retinue and give her soldiers a sign of civilization. That is somewhat typical of humans in general. Honestly I find it off putting when my fantasy characters are too modern in their views. Have you read Kaladin's first chapters in Oathbringer? At least slaves could think and at least in theory get free. They were not breed like animals or separated from their children. In theory they could make wages. No she doesn't. That is her justification. She is also understandably upset that Jasnah just committed murder in from of her and treated it like an intro to philosophy lecture. Shallan was born into the system of oppression. Wanting her to have modern values in regards to human life is somewhat ridiculous.

He appears to Dalinar in human form. He was married to Cultivation who also appears in human form. Hoid claims that he bought he bought drinks for Hoid one time(from what we see in Dragonsteal Prime the races don't mix much)

It is not the same. Patronage is different from an alliance. Remember being Jasnah's ward was not realistically enough to save her house. Also offering them jobs is also going to be a bit tricky. Remember they are in a different country. If anyone gets word that they are running they will probably be assassinated before they can leave. I only said that was something Rosharans gossip about. I never meant to imply that it had to be true. I can see plenty of other reasons why she has not engaged in marriage.

powers and limitations of an elantrian
Karger replied to king of nowhere's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
I sit corrected. In that case the only way to defeat Elantrians is to get them when they are not ready(or have something like a nuke) -

Where is this? -
She has limited options for protecting Shallan and her family. Marriage is one of the only ones that seems practical(I challenge you to think of another one). Also she did her best to hedge things so that Shallan can back out if she needs to. It could be that. In fact statements she makes indicate that she finds the idea of being beholden in any way to another person a bit disturbing. However WoBs say that she does not discuss her sexuality at all.

Why would an incomplete aon work? We have seen that you have to draw them carefully if you want them to have the desired result. -
They would not. In a good decade they will probably release it but by then I doubt it will matter.

She was trying to. Kaladin intervened before she could do anything. Their spies were reporting the Alethi planed on marching during the weeping. To try a new form you need a highstorm and during the weaping there aren't any. They had only two storms left. One before negotiations and one after. Their options mean that they either have to try the form on someone in storm one and then use the second one to mass transform or not try it at all in storm one and then hope stuff works out in storm two. The only oversight that was made was that they had Eshoni handle negotiations while in an untested form. So you like Venli because of one scene toward the end of the last book while hating her for all of that book and the previous book? Sounds like you spent a lot more time hating her. Flashbacks generally do not add much to the plot they add to our understanding of the characters involved. I think it might be that Venli can be best understood through the eyes of her sister. Well maybe other readers have different needs then yours? Also the past!Venli might not be that good at explaining answers to you the way present!Venli is. Cosmere mysteries are nice as well but I think Brandon is more then capable of finding other ways of giving us this intelligence if he realy wants to. Finally of course it is up for debate. That is what we are doing right now. Debating.

Possible. We don't even know for certain where the "Unite Them" impulse is coming from.

The army seems to have bonded Yelig-nar aka the thrill. This does not necessarily mean that they can voidbind(especially considering that we don't realy know what Voidbinding is).

He was human. Basically.

Are Sand Masters invested? The investiture itself comes from the sand. The Master just connects with it. Also at the time he might not have been invested.

How Would YOU Get Away With Murder? *Oathbringer Spoilers*
Karger replied to Firebolt-101's topic in Stormlight Archive
Lightweave a balcony into a set of stairs if the goal is to just get away with the murder. If I have more time and resources I would lightweave him into a parshmen and put him unarmed in the middle of a battle zone between Windruners and fused.- 20 replies

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Karger replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
YKYASF when every time you make think that SA is a word. -
He has representted way more obscure cultures and we still don't know all of the shardworlds. I think we will be fine.

Gossip says that she is ace. She has turned down every offer of marriage including some extraordinarily attractive and well made offers. She also seems rather suspicious of marriage itself(as seen when she is talking to Shallan in the beginning of WoR).

I think it is an intent thing. Azure at this point in her life seems pretty guarded and closed off. Also she would probably avoid the ocean like the plague. Don't touch the strange glass beads is generally a good idea.

Was hoid behind the fall of the Lord ruler ?
Karger replied to Friendshipspren's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I was thinking of this WoB Stormlight Three Update #4 (Sept. 8, 2016) #4 Share Copy yurisses You suggested Secret History gave the definitive explanation why Vin didn't meet Hoid but many years ago you hinted at something different (that something he does spooked her and she is too observant for her own good). Can you reveal what the original reason you had intended was? (My favorite theories were eerily skillful humming and her picking up very faint pulses from his Investiture usage.) Brandon Sanderson I went back and forth on this one, honestly. I knew Kelsier would be involved, but one thing I was really worried about with Secret History was undermining Vin's story or her agency. While I liked Ender's Shadow, the closest parallel I knew of to a story like this, I didn't like how it weakened a lot of what Ender accomplished and gave it to Bean instead. (I think I've mentioned this in conjunction with Secret History before.) So I wanted something to have stopped Vin, regardless of whether or not I ever wrote Kelsier's behind-the-scenes story or not. The official answer in my head is not that it was anything specific, but that the whole package that Hoid was presenting was WRONG to her. Her instincts picked up a dozen subtle cues that he was more dangerous than he seemed, and that made her freeze and assess. And that gave Kelsier the chance to nudge her away. I wasn't trying to lead people to figure out a specific answer, with those comments. I was trying to hint that something was wrong, and Vin didn't quite know what set her off--because it wasn't one thing, but many. So I don't have a smoking gun, so to speak, of things Hoid was doing to drive her off.- 6 replies
