Or, you know, one demigod wrapped the entirety of the universe in a false reality without the permission of the other in a misguided attempt to give him a second chance at life, allying himself with said friends mortal enemy, leading to a world collapsing event and possibly endangering his daughter.
-
Well at the very least it’s never been done before

I’d be all for a new magic system if we wanted to make one up, that sounds fun! As for trying to take down the DA, it’s not really a wise plot course mostly because it’s been done before, and also because the power imbalance is pretty enormous and therefore not really fun. The best bet for an actual compelling “guild war” plot, if we wanted to do one, would be for the DA to effectively go into a schism and turn on itself, with each side garnering allies from the other guilds. Depending on how this Era ends and what goes on between the resident demigods, that could actually be possible.

The Alleys are kind of like a universe stuffed into a city. You can enter them usually by entering most alleys in the city, but at the end you sort of wander into… a place-between-places. The sky changes into a boiling void, and you can meet literally anything in them especially if you don’t know where you’re going. They are navigable by either walking through them or by Alleytravel which is kind of like semi-teleportation, you kind of weave yourself a special, shorter pathway towards the location you want to arrive at. It’s very dangerous unless you know how to do it or you have someone guiding you through it.

Yeah, the innate magic of the AV is generally used by members of the DA because they created the world, but also because the magic usually only works inside the Alleys, with the exception of Voidmaking or something rather minor like Alleycant (the pen-twirling language - don’t ask just roll with it).
-
So it does, but also you’re free to bring in outside magic systems. I just mean like you would find it difficult to bring in, say, a Shard or someone like Dalinar Kholin or Kelsier, or something like that. People seem to be excited about linking the Cytoverse up with the AV and that’s awesome I am just giving you a heads up on how new stuff is generally brought in.

Fwiw we don’t usually do too much Sanderson plot canon here. I haven’t actually read any of the Skyward books but bringing canon book characters or key plot elements into the AV is generally not done because it starts to get thorny with the established book canon. Just a heads up for any of your plans! :]

Vivica curtsied to the newest visitor - so many today - and gave him her best smile. Such nice manners he had, this Sanax fellow. He must have been a resident of the long term ward just like she was. No one else understood the Baking, or the other life. Such a shame that he’s never visited before, she thought. He’d even inquired about Bennington, which no one ever did. No one but the Professor of course. Bennington glowed a very cheerful violet indeed, and gave several approving loops. Vivica was just about to tell Sanax that yes, of course Bennington experienced time dilation, when Dr. Victoria split them up. Vivica followed Reshilore over to the far side of the room near her desk, beckoning to Bennington. He followed more reluctantly. She smiled at Reshilore, only showing a little bit of her teeth. The momentary irritation of being pulled away from a new Baking friend was no reason to be rude to company. Besides, there was something special about this man. He almost reminded her of the Professor. She couldn’t quite place it, which was very exciting indeed. Mystery was what kept life interesting, after all. That, and frosting. Lots of frosting. "Well, Vivica,” Reshilore began, “you said there was something strange about me? I hope I don't make you uncomfortable." Vivica giggled, then shook her head. “No no, of course not. Nothing makes me uncomfortable. Well, except for the leather restraints, those do dig into the shoulders. And the needles…” She moved over to her desk, picking up a piece of paper that had fallen onto the floor, along with her black crayon. “I don’t suppose you have a red pen, Mr. Reshilore? They don’t let me have red art supplies here, which is silly. How else am I supposed to color the frosting?” Vivica leaned against the desk and began to sketch while standing. The picture came together quickly, as all her best ones did. It was Reshilore, wearing a Baking Coat of his own. She nodded to herself. Mmm, yes. That’s much better. Vivica handed him the drawing, clasping her hands in anticipation. “It’s not what is about you that’s strange. It’s what is missing. Every researcher needs a proper coat, Mr. Reshilore. That’s the first thing I learned in the other life.” @Fatebreaker @18th Shard

The way we’ve been playing it is that if someone engages them directly, they are very quick to attack and rewrite memories. So if she openly noticed them, they’d openly notice her too. So it would probably be in her best interest to not see them fully just for congruent narrative on your characters part.
-
Yes a hospital should have several Honestly I defer to you as technically they are your creation. I would guess though, that she might not be able to see them fully. Perhaps something out of the corner of her eyes?
-
The lobby is gone, I think? Some people are seeing shadow beasts but only those with incongruent memories. An earthquake just occurred. That’s about it for cursory knowledge. Oh and most people are in the Cognitive Ward

I’m not that old geez

It’s not the years, it’s the mileage

What is the Total Eclipse of? Could it be… …dare I say it… the Heart?

Byron gets the Full Alleyverse Experience edit: also @kenod I think the Hospital would be a decent entry point especially since there has been a minor explosion in part of it, so there could be more reasons for outside people to enter the scene even if they have no direct association with the hospital.

You’re too kind! :3

People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley

"A Forgery. Or something like one.” Lita righted herself, frowning as Laurelai spoke. On the far side of the room, a log collapsed within the hearth, throwing sparks. Lita turned, startled. Sparks in the air, a great blackened forge, the ring of a hammer in the dark - ”These symptoms,” Laurelai continued, “the memories the blank spots, the headaches. Classic signs of the cracks showing in a Soulstamp.” An icy shiver trickled down Lita’s spine like water. Water deep beneath the earth. Blue light, pure as crystal glass, reflecting off a still pool. ”But to affect so many people it would need to be enormous, and whoever was doing the Forging would need to be more Invested than a thousand Forgers.” Lita drew in a single, deep breath. Dimly, she recognized the wild heat of a true Tin flare within her. But when had she turned it on? A single moment of perfect clarity, a secret so sweet and so terrible she wanted to drown in it, to open her mouth and drink it until it killed her, consumed her. “Is there something else maybe? Something similar but more powerful?" Lita turned to look at Laurelai, and she could tell that the green of her eyes was a bare ring around her pupils, wide and bright. “Yes,” she murmured. “There is something similar.” A voice in the grotto, implacable and imminent as entropy. Shadows tightening about her, a hand on her shoulder. ”A god could do it,” Lita whispered, lifting her own hand as she remembered. She remembered. “A god, or something…” Fingers trembling, reaching up to touch that hand. Impossibly real. ”…something Stranger.” @Voidus -
Yes I would say so

Lita’s hand was halfway towards her inkwell with the intent of sending a message to West and Carson’s when she noticed the change in Laurelai’s voice. "Possible I suppose." Th girl murmured aloud, eyes unfocused and far away. "But why these people, and how could so many be maintained?" Lita felt a chill pass through her, the sensation of a thousand ants skittering over her skin. It set her teeth on edge and twisted deep in her stomach. She forced herself to stay calm, to maintain a cool professionalism. Lita could not afford to look weak, not in front of a new acolyte. Not ever. The Dark Alley can build on weakness, something whispered, a fragment of a memory. She could almost make out the shape of it, like the tatters of an ancient flag, once so bright. “But it will devour the weak,” Lita finished, whispering in a voice that only a Tineye could hear. For one fraction of a second, the memory snapped into sharp focus. A vast room filled with hundreds of people, the excited susurrus of low chatter, and before her a man that was steel and nightmare, god and demon, riveting and ruin. One eye deep and rending, the other bright and pitiless. His hand outstretched, bearing a bright golden Coin. Lita blinked, her hand moving automatically to her right side just as a wave of dizziness hit her hard enough that she staggered to the side. “What -“ Lita gasped, holding onto the edge of her desk, looking up at Laurelai as she did so. What is happening to me? “What’s possible?” @Voidus
