  1. Sarah smiled. "Yeah, I got here a few weeks ago. To be honest, I know next to nothing about this place. Some woman in a library filled me in on the basics, but I've just been winging it so far."
  2. Sarah turned at this. "Really?" She asked. "Huh. Well, I don't want to die in my first month here either." She extended a hand to the woman who had spoken. "I'm Sarah. What's your name?"
  3. Sarah looked at her. "I don't think so. I mean, I couldn't tell that you were isolated or anything."
  4. Sarah looked surprised. "Isn't that against the law? I mean, I can't say that I wouldn't be tempted, but I don't want to land myself in jail in my first month here."
  5. Sarah frowned. "I'm sure you're doing fine. It's not your fault that I only got here a few weeks so."
  6. "I, um, I've heard of it." Despite these words, her expression showed how lost she was.
  7. Sarah yelped as Fasi's drawing suddenly came to life and shot toward her. She stood reflexively as it speedily climbed onto her shoulder, where it stopped. Sarah stared at in in fascination. "Is it... alive?" she asked hesitantly.
  8. "Sure," said Sarah enthusiastically.
  9. Sarah obeyed, attempting to swing her hand past the line. Her eyes went wide when she met invisible resistance. "Wow," she said. "How did you do that? Is it magic chalk?"
  10. "What's a Rithmatist?" Sarah asked.
  11. Sarah shrugged. "I didn't want to pry. Why? Can you do something cool?"
  12. Thanks for the latest installation! I don't think that Songbearer is willing to die yet, but there are other ways we can help. We saw in Warbreaker that some Returned try to help their petitioners even without sacrificing their lives. For example, we could help the priest find proper eyecare (have glasses been invented in this world? I don't remember) or give the sick woman some medicine. Actually, based on these petitions, there seems to be a great deal of need for public healthcare. Perhaps some future proposal of ours can center on that. In addition, I think visiting some other Returned, and perhaps discussing some potential political compromises, could be useful. Therefore, I vote: [X] Give Breath to no one, but assist them in other ways [X] Visit Lawmaker the Honest
  13. "If they let me," she said, looking slightly relieved to have the conversation back on safe ground. "I need a job, and I love traveling and exploring. That's what I did back on Scadrial. Plus, there could be people still alive down there."
  14. Sarah nodded uncertainly, clearly unsure of what to do with the sudden turn the conversation had taken. "So," she said after a very awkward pause, "Are you planning on going down into the caverns?"
  15. Sarah exhaled softly at the unexpected reply. "Not everyone," she said eventually. "Right? I mean, most people are generally doing their best."
  16. Sarah thought for a moment. "I don't know," she said slowly. "Something happened to that other expedition, and someone had to have made those cave paintings. Maybe people? Or some sort of monster?"
  17. Sarah, who had been hastily filling out her survey as the the ACE woman had talked, looked up as Fasi approached. "So what did you think of that?" She asked. "Sounds pretty dangerous, huh?"
  18. Thanks! It's only my second tournament, so I'm a little nervous. Granted, but your boon is that your computer breaks. I wish that I had a good telescope.
  19. Granted. Your bane is that you can never stop using abrasion. On the plus side, you never run out of Stormlight. On the negative side, you can never pick something up again. I wish that my team will beat at least one other at my Quizbowl tournament tomorrow, and that my school's A team will qualify for Nationals. (Is that two? I basically just want my school to do well.)
  20. Granted. Your boon is that, just as you stepped outside before taking off, the doors to your house locked, and it flew away without you, taking all of your worldly possessions with it, and leaving behind broken water pipes, a burst sewage tank, and an electrical fire from the snapped cables. I wish that I could burn Bendalloy, thereby allowing myself to finish my homework in under 5 minutes.
  21. Aww, Jasnah's already taken. In that case, may I participate as Steris? @Paranoid King
  22. Aln followed, closing the door gently behind her.
  23. Wow, that's so cool! Welcome to the Shard!
  24. Aln narrowed her eyes slightly at the women's mention of a new face. Receiving the paper, she glanced down at it. Mar, she thought. I wonder what she nearly wrote. Some connection to her evident shape-shifting, perhaps? She pulled her eyes up in time to catch Myriad's question. "Yes," she replied. "You're welcome to attend now. Many of your questions will likely be answered at the meeting." Aln stepped over to the door in the back and pushed it open. "Right this way," she said, glancing back.
  25. "Oh, yes, of course," Aln said, retrieving one from a pocket and handing it to her. "My apologies."
