  1. Jenny tilted her head, a bit confused. ”Aren’t you supposed to keep your monster-trophy things? You earned this, and it’s a super valuable one too. It’s really cool, though…” She was tempted to lift the veil, take a peek at maybe just the back of Medusa’s head, but she resisted the urge. She settled for aimlessly poking it instead.
  2. Jenny, once again, waved. It was a tried and true greeting method that she tended to default to. Less chance of offending someone if she wasn’t speaking. She smiled and held Ed’s hand. Gift was a pretty good wingman.
  3. Alright. Jenny still regretting asking. Gift could literally read thoughts, and she doubted anyone wanted their mind read against their will. She was admittedly still quite curious what the thing that Gift decided not to share was, which just made her feel worse. She made her way back over to Ed and plopped down on the ground next to him. Jenny decided that she should probably expend as little energy as possible while waiting to leave.
  4. Oh, sorry I’m being too nosy. Jenny was glad Gift had decided not to tell her all of the details. She realized that this was basically spying on Ed, and that wasn’t fair. She felt pretty terrible about her prying, now. At least Ed was doing okay. She’d have to find some way to get rid of his worry. Would confessing her feelings make him worry for her more? Now she was even more scared of doing that. Did it outweigh her fright that she’d never get to tell him?
  5. Jenny hiked in a small circle, practicing using the Gift-staff efficiently for walking. She wasn’t leaning on it quite as heavily as she was before. She thought at Gift. How’s Ed doing? Gift would know more about Ed’s emotional state than she would.
  6. “No, we can’t afford to waste time. I’ll tough it out. Once we get on the train, I’ll have plenty of time for sitting and resting. I appreciate it, though.” Jenny smiled at Ed reassuringly. ”I’m good with that.” She looked around, assessing everyone’s various states of readiness.
  7. “I think I can. Whatever Aaron did turned the wound from debilitating into annoying. The walk is certainly not going to be fun, though.” Jenny gave a wry laugh. ”I’ll just pretend I’ve got a giant stitch in my side.”
  8. I think your quote box decided it liked dark mode better.
  9. Jenny glanced over at Terrence, who was still holding his weapon. He always seemed to be preparing for someone to try and stab him in the back. Maybe he’d been betrayed before. ”I hope Terrence can get over his anxiety about us soon. It must be exhausting to live like that.” She grabbed Ed’s hand again, unable to banish that lingering uneasiness that something bad was going to happen to her.
  10. Jenny nodded. ”I think Aaron’s not trying to do anything malicious. He seems like a good kid, but he’s just… well, a kid.” She stood up and stretched, thrilled that she could finally do that without irritating her side. It still ached, but she didn’t feel like she was going to rip the wound back open anymore. She poked her side again and found that it caused a dull pain rather than a sharp pain this time.
  11. Please stop licking my salt lamp. They’re just jealous.
  12. Jenny covered a smile at seeing the bush shake. Aaron hiding in the bushes and trying to secretly heal her was pretty adorable. She felt some of her frustration about him fade away. He did seem to genuinely be making an effort to help people. He couldn’t help the fact that he was twelve years old and, thus, naturally annoying.
  13. Jenny suddenly felt the pain in her side lessen. She perked up and looked around for the cause. Flowers had appeared next to her. She smiled. That must’ve been Aaron’s doing. Maybe he felt bad for annoying her. Jenny couldn’t see where he was, but he had to be nearby somewhere, so she called out in no particular direction. ”Thanks Aaron!” She knew that Aaron had been overextending himself lately, so hopefully using his powers didn’t cost too much on his part.
  14. Thanks for following me!

    1. Annatar

      Annatar

      Yep, thank you as well!

  15. Jenny wanted to apologize again, but she’d been trying to get Ed to stop apologizing so much. She didn’t want to contradict herself. Instead, she just leaned against him, not letting go of his hand. Everything was becoming so dangerous, so uncertain. She needed to tell him before it was too late. Not now, but soon. If Jenny died, she’d spend her first few decades in the afterlife kicking herself for not admitting what she felt.
  16. Jenny wanted to tell Ed that there was nothing to worry about, that she’d be ok. But she didn’t want to lie to him. There was something wrong that seemed to be getting worse, and she had no idea how to fix it. She was scared.
  17. “I’m ok. I don’t know what that was.” She carefully sat up, her vision going red for a moment from vertigo. Jenny tried her best to fix her hairdo, but it was getting pretty squished. Jenny gestured at Terrence. ”This is Terrence, he’s another half-blood. Terrence, this is Harold.” Hopefully Terrence would actually say something instead of just standing there suspiciously. @The Aspiring Archivist
  18. Jenny’s headache began to fade. It was odd how quickly it seemed to come and go. She tried to wipe away her tears with her sleeve, embarrassed by her show of weakness. She turned her head to look at Ed and stared at the cuts on his hands. He’d hurt himself because of her. ”Sorry.”

  20. Uncle Ralof! Can I see your axe? How many Imperials have you killed? Do you really know Ulfric Stormcloak?
  21. 3rd person. It leaves a little more wiggle room for the narrator to describe things the POV character might not necessarily be able to notice and just sounds better to me for some reason.
  22. “This story, he is very good. I thank you for sharing him. Hopefully you will be able to find your way home soon.” Lunamor was quite pleased with the last few stories he had received. While there had been many annoying customers and a weird amount of health inspectors, he had also heard interesting and exciting takes of adventure. It reminded him why he loved his restaurant so much. ”If you need stormlight, I can help. My friend Kaladin, he knows people with access to much of it.”
  23. Thanks! I generally prefer a semi-causal/slightly whimsical style, if that makes sense. I’m not too sure how to describe it. I aim for a style similar to Sanderson’s, basically
  24. Jenny accepted the painkillers and managed to choke them down. They didn’t do much, but maybe they just needed to take a while to kick in. She stared at the sky and tried to look at clouds to calm herself down, but her vision was too blurred with tears to make out any shapes.
