    "We will," Star said. She was exhausted, but she was determined. There was murder in her eyes, along with a tear or two.

    "We'll get out of this one way or another, but I'll not have you hurt yourself on the way!"

    "Shadow, don't make him... hurt Xino. Or you."

    "You're a disgrace," Star said. She spit on his cheek, but let the mimes take her.

    "Nothing you do makes sense. I just want my happy ending, to be done with all this Narritive nonsense. Why are you so set on hurting me and all I care about?"

    Star eyes widened and she slowly raised her hands. She swallowed. "What do you want?"

    "You deserve far better than what's been handed to you, Heather. You can make it better, but you're trapped in yourself."

    "You don't have to be so cold," Star said. "You're just pushing people away. And that is only going to hurt you."

    "Because we didn't have time. We still don't have much time. You just have to trust me."

    "Listen, Shadow," Star said. "When we get out of here, I'm going to need you to come with us. There is more at stake than you know."

    "FIGHT!" Star yelled at Shadow. She decked the mime in the face.

    "No!" Star cried. She ran to the fourth mime and Narrated. Shadow regained consciousness.

    Star took the dagger and pulled it out grudgingly. "You really think something like that is going to hurt me?"
  16. Zephrun’s Imperium
    Star took a page from Astral's book, melting to the floor in a puddle of her own silver essence. She went around the wall and curled up the mime's leg, then reformed and stabbed it through the back. She rushed to Xino's side to help him defend.

    Star's blade shriveled to ash in her fingers and she let its remains fall to the floor. She glared at Silence. "You're going to pay for this," she muttered under her breath. She summoned another sword to her hands and screeched a battle cry, rushing toward the mimes. She swung at the first one's waist, a silver shield appearing on her forearm as she did so.

    Star narrowed her eyes and put one of her purple forcefields around Silence's gun. "RUN!" she yelled to Xino.

    Star had an idea. Xino was just a character. She could Narrate his actions, couldn't she? And if she could do that... Xino and Star traded places, putting Xino and Shadow closer to the portal and escape.

    I'm feeling better now. Sometimes you just have to get over a hump. I just don't feel like I can do anything, ya know? I'm not really motivated to draw and I need to finish Skyward by a certain date, 'cause I want to have read it by the time I go on vacation. (it's a friend of mine's favorite book) Problem is, I'm not loving it and I'm also reading this other book that I do really like called The Ruin of Kings, so I'm in a weird place. And I'm tired. Tiredness can kill an eager heart.
