  1. "Thank you." Ember seemed a little more reserved now. On edge. "Does Star ever frighten you?" she asked.
  2. Ember's face fell. "Forgive me," she whispered. "My powers are a great burden. I was only trying to follow my directive. But I did not truly understand that directive. You are not my enemy. You are only... a person. Perhaps that sounds unfeeling. And that's because... I am. Utterly unfeeling. And cold, despite my heat. But I wanted to hide after Star berated my insolence. I felt small." She trailed off.
  3. "So you are afraid of me," Ember said quietly.
  4. "I cannot access the other universe. And I trust her to get out of... whatever has happened. For me, the stakes are much lower. I trust Star, but if she didn't exist, I would not care that reality was broken. Actually, if she did not exist, then I would not either. Tell me. Would you be saddened if I ceased to exist?"
  5. "But you love her for it, don't you? I've seen it on your face. She's the only one who's never left you. And you love her for it. It is all right. I see it in her too. She is too good for this world. That is why she is my master."
  6. "... No." Ember was silent for a moment. "I don't think it matters. Star cares for you, intoxicated or not."
  7. Ember considered. "I would not want to see myself as a drunken wreck either."
  8. Ember looked away and laid down on the floor, staring up at the ceiling. "I hope Star returns soon."
  9. Ember spread her lips in a sort of half smile, though it looked more like a twitch and looked a little bit creepy, as it revealed her bronze teeth.
  10. “It was a mere observation, but I feel that I owe you a compliment. You have been hurt - by me and by others. Humans respond well to kind words so the logical course of action was to find something good about you and comment on it. I also… enjoy your company. You are the only one who has treated me…” Ember paused for a long moment. “I’m struggling to find the right words. But you treat me… as you would anyone else. I appreciate your unbiased view, especially considering what I have done to you. It is… refreshing.”
  11. As the pain faded, Ember looked at Heather and stared her in the eyes intensely. Then, she let her eyes drift, studying the girl's posture and body language. Humans were interesting and studying their many behaviors helped Ember better understand them. Though, it seemed that the more she learned, the more she found there was to know. Perhaps their nature would always elude her. But she had time. She was immortal. She looked Heather in the eyes again. "You are beautiful," she said matter-of-factly.
  12. Hurt Ap, lets get one off the list sooner than later. And heal myself. AonEne - 6 Xinoehp512 - 5 Rebecca - 6 Doomstick - 5 Lunamor - 5 Shard of Thought - 6 Truthless of Shinovar - 5 Snipexe - 5 Sami - 5 Jaywalk - 5 I think I am here. - 5 Sorana - 6 Apollyon - 1
  13. Shameless necro, the Skyward forum is far too quiet. I'd go with Saphira.
  14. Star let her message to Xino sit. Hopefully, she'd get an answer, but it was perfectly probable that she wouldn't. And so, she waved her hand. A 3D image of Pheonix appeared in the cell with her, smiling down at her, fiery hair burning brightly. Unfortunately, it only lasted a few, short, precious seconds. She was using a type of Narration to sustain the projection and this Realm seemed opposed to that. Honestly, she was surprised she had gotten the video of her potential past to work. Still, the projection's disappearance was... foreboding, in a way. Pheonix quite literally disappearing. Still, it had been so nice to see his face. How long had it been since she had seen him last? Maybe 60 pages? She shivered, the loneliness sinking deeper into her soul. What she wouldn't give to have him here. Holding her tightly, the way he had after she failed to complete her suicide mission. He had never been very... extroverted to say the least, but he was brave enough for her. She still didn't know, after all this time, why he chose her, of all people, to love. After all this time... She scoffed at the irony of her words. What time? The time spent being condescending toward him and not appreciating how lucky she was to have gotten a second chance? She really was a monster. She glanced over at the puddle that she had used to watch herself be caged by Jay. Her pale reflection stared back at her. Shards, what had happened to her? Her hair was a mess, her eyes were still a little teary and red at the edges, the burns on her cheeks were ugly and painful. She tore her eyes away from it. I wish, she thought, that I had never become a character in the first place. Then Marsh wouldn't be dead and no one would have gotten needlessly hurt. Then Shadow would still be a murderous drunk. Then Butt Venture wouldn't have ever gained sentience. Then Pheonix and Ember... wouldn't even exist. But it didn't matter. They were stupid thoughts. And she was a wretched fool.
  15. He was also the Ghanderflaffle King, due to certain events that happened a few pages ago.
  16. SoT smiled mischievously. "I wonder what the SA characters would do if they knew they were just that; characters."
  17. SoT was offended. "What plot? We moved to CBST! Quit exploding things, you'll make the characters unhappy. Shards, don't you see? We treat our characters like skaa."
