    Star melted in his kiss. She wanted more. She had missed this more than she remembered and it was so glorious to be back where she knew she belonged. Star leaned in and nuzzled him for a moment, laughing to herself. "It's nice to be back," she said. "How long was I asleep?"

    Kill, and they kill in return... whispered a voice from the past. Kill. And they kill in return... He shivered, phantom pain playing across his scars. Kelsier was old now. He'd lived a very long time. People died. They just did. He closed his eyes and let himself cry.

    Kelsier glared, his grief becoming cold anger. "Astral," he growled. "Whatever that creature is, I will-" Jasnah laid a hand on his arm, giving him a look. Not a stubborn one. A pained one. "Kelsier, look at Jay. He is grieving. And you should be too." Kelsier shook, clenching his hands into fists. "I can't lose someone else!" he cried, frantic. "But you have," Jasnah said firmly. There was a long silence. "You don't think I'm angry too?" Tears streamed down her cheeks. "Max didn't deserve to die."

    Kelsier's face fell, his posture slumping. "No," he said. "No, not another one... My son..." Even Jasnah's expression softened. She said nothing, looking down at her coffee, unsure how to react. "How did this happen?" she asked, her voice uncharacteristically soft.

    "Yes, of course," Kelsier said, nodding. "You're always welcome."

    REVENGE, my boy! Revenge... *evil, quiet laughter...* Kelsier opened the door, grinning. "Jay!" he cried in his boisterous, powerful voice. "It's good see you, we were just wondering where Max went when we remembered we left him with you. He is.... with you... right?"

    Blackness rolled in waves off of her form. Pure white tears streamed down her cheeks, strikingly stark against her grey skin. "HE WAS PERFECT!"

    "Nice," Astral growled, fluttering her fingers. "None of you were nice to me." She slammed her hands down on her throne and rose to her feet. "You KILLED HIM!" she screeched. "You killed him, you took him from me!" She started screaming, no longer coherent.

    Astral's eye twitched as she put one leg on top of the other and her hands on her knees. "Exactly." She leaned forward, and put her cold, slender claws fingers under Truthless's chin. "I was her once. I fight hard too, my dear." She released him. "I am the very embodiment of the beauty of brokeness and power!" she hissed. "Star will be infused with my essence. I will die, yes... But it will be worth. Every. Moment."
