Ember nodded. "That is all right." She suddenly felt awkward with her arms around Heather and scooted backwards a bit, sitting on her knees. -

Ember wished she could better express her emotional turmoil. Her fingers shook slightly and she regarded Heather with intensity. Unable to express her sorrow in words, she expanded into Heather's mind to help her understand the sympathy she felt. -

Ember blinked, face showing more emotion than she'd ever showed before. Steam fogged up her eyes. "That is evil," she proclaimed. -

"Oh, no," Star assured him. "No, of course not, Pheo. You couldn't have known that was what she'd think of; I certainly wouldn't have guessed. I'm... I'm touched by your efforts. She just..." She shook her head. "She's a very special girl. I care about her very much." Ember cocked her head. She did know of Marsh, but only just now had she made the connection between him, spikes, and Heather's metal eyes. It was surprising to her that she might have spikes in other places as well. And, she had always thought that Marsh was simply... born the way he was. "Why would someone do that?" she asked, disturbed. "You should not be in pain." Ember felt great sorrow. "You do not deserve this." -

Immediately Ember was reminded of her many questions about Heather's odd appearance. She ignored Skylar completely. "How..." she began uncertainly. "How were you changed? I do not understand." -

Ember stiffened slightly, unused to physical contact of any kind. She looked down to check and make sure she was covered in armor, suddenly paranoid that she might burn her friend. But she was covered and Heather was safe. She did not let go, sensing that Heather did not want her to, but did not say anything, for she had no idea how one should respond to something like this. -
People you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley

Sierra looked up, noting the splotchy, yet vibrantly colored shapes that made up Grey's face. "I... I'm not thinking straight right now," she said. "All these colors make my head hurt; once this goes back to normal, maybe I'll be able to explain better, but now..." She looked away, unable to handle the bright colors for very long. Sierra felt strangely... weak. That in itself wasn't quite enough to describe it. She was weak. She only weighed about 60 pounds, one pound of which came from her long hair. Coming in at only barely five feet tall and with hardly any muscle on her sickly-thin frame she was practically the embodiment of frailty. Despite that however, she was often quite snappish, with a defiant, sarcastic, and often flat out vulgar personality. Often, her mind would keep her going far after her body had begun to yell at her that she needed to stop and rest. Now... now was different. She felt like she had been up for a week straight and wanted nothing more than something to get rid of her intrusive migraine. @Snipexe -

Ember stood there awkwardly for a moment, watching. Watching her friend cry made her feel very uncomfortable. She had no idea what to do. What would Star have done? She thought for a moment, then remembered when Heather had tried to give her a hug. Both had felt quite distressed when they saw that they could not. But unlike her master, Ember was in the same Universe as Heather was. Maybe she could try. Ember let her armor grow on every part of her body, sat down next to Heather, and put her arms around her. It was quite awkward, but she was doing the best she could. -

Ember instinctively put her hand shelled out. The chair, weighing almost nothing compared to her, didn't knock her off balance at all and fell to the ground after hitting her palm. "This is unlike you," Ember said. She disliked the chaos that was unfolding before her and was both saddened and confused by Heather's odd emotional state. -

Ember's eyes widened and, in fury, grabbed Heather's wrist, making sure to cover her fingers with her shell. The firemoss turned to dust, Ember Narrated angrily, so that Heather could not use it. -

Ember regarded Heather and the bowl with her large glass eyes. She had a decision to make and it was going to be a hard one. But it was important. So, start simple. What did she know? Star didn't want Heather to drink anything. Okay, she knew that. But why? Ember had seen the negative effects of Heather's drinking habits including vomiting. And she had come to realize only just a little bit ago that when Star had asked her to come and "heal" Heather, she was probably doing it to get rid of those effects. So, then, why did Heather insist on drinking it? Ember recalled asking this same question. It had been a long time ago, now, but she still remembered that Heather had explained that it "felt good" and "made her forget." So now she had to figure out if Heather was trying to get the same effect with whatever this was. She read the label on the bowl. 'Pain reliever.' That sounded similar, but maybe not exactly the same. So, the question remained, should she let Heather do it? For a normal person, such a long thought process would have taken minutes, but Ember's mental abilities allowed her to her all her thinking done within about twenty seconds. At the end of it, she ultimately decided that she should look at what Heather thought about it. She searched for Heather's intent within her mind and found that, yes indeed, she was searching for the same effect as what drinking did to her which meant that no, Ember should not allow her to. Ember closed the cabinet and said, very simply, "No." -

Star wilted a little bit. She very much disliked confrontation. "Well, I..." She trailed off, looking up at Ember. She was unsure if the Destroyer knew how vital it was that Heather be kept away from alcohol. She wetted her lips with her tongue, weighing her options. "Yes," she finally said. "Yes, that's fine, my dear." Ember, she added silently, mind-to-mind, do please make sure she doesn't drink anything. It's imperative. I understand, came the curt response. Oh, thank you, Ember. -

Star raised her eyebrows in concern, thinking over the dangers of letting Heather go off to do whatever she wanted. Every time that she had gone away, she'd gotten to drinking, and Star wasn't about to let that happen. "Well..." she said. "Heather, I... I'm not sure I'd like you to be left alone right now." -
