  1. The spikes carried a weight to them. No matter what she did next, today the old Sierra, who could lie to herself and pretend that she didn't really understand just how dark her world really was, would die. The question was, what kind of a person did she want to be when she was reborn? Only a few hours had passed since Theresa had been murdered and, in fact, Sierra's hands were still a little bit red with her dried blood. She tried not to think about that. So much had happened since that moment. She felt as if she had aged a decade in that time. Not in wisdom, but in frailty. For the moment, her shell had been peeled painfully back to reveal the soft, human innards beneath. But that was her truest self and she knew it. There was no putting her old shell back on. She just had to get stronger. Sierra set her jaw, narrowing her eyes with determination. "Yes," she said firmly. @Snipexe
  2. Sierra sat still. She should probably be horrified, but for some reason she wasn't. His last few sentences had hit her hard. She hardly understood what in the world he was talking about, but she did know that she wanted to find out more. And she felt, for some odd reason, that she belonged here. Her head still ached, but her mother's berating screams inside of her mind had quieted slightly. How she would love to forget her own brokenness. She nodded. "I want that," she said, still deeply shaken. @Snipexe
  3. Sierra trembled slightly. She wanted Vivica to come back, though she didn't understand why that was and she wasn't about to try to. Emotions were her greatest enemy, but she sought only to avoid them, for they were impossible to defeat completely. Even she knew that. She regarded Grey and his rigid, stone-like frame. Her vision made him look almost geometrical, just broken down to shapes, though the shapes were small enough to show a good amount of detail. Her instinct told her to snap at him, but she couldn't bring herself to. Another part of her, the part that she tried to conceal most, begged her to break down to tears and just sob until her sister came to hold her. But Sierra knew her sister was gone. And yet, she didn't want to know it. The truth taunted her in her mother's voice, words drifting around in her head like a poison. She took a sip of her water, conflicting emotions only succeeding in making her feel numb. What did she want? She'd thought about that question a lot. Always before, she'd had herself convinced that Theresa's death would make her happy. And before that, she'd killed her mother in her search for freedom. She fingered her braid mindlessly, staring off into space. "I don't know," she whispered. She cringed at the sound of her own voice, swallowing. For some reason, though she was quite hungry, she didn't dare touch her food. She felt... exposed. When she was younger, she tried not to eat as much so she wouldn't throw up. Her mother always hated her for it when she did. Of course, it hadn't helped very much, and they hadn't had much to eat anyway. Being hungry was just... normal for her. She hadn't been full since... Well, she didn't think she'd ever been full. And if she had, she had probably been too drunk to remember it. "I guess... I want to know what's really going on," she said. "Why... why'd you do this to me?" @Snipexe
  4. From the album: The Longest Thread (Misadventures)

So, this scene didn't actually happen, but I thought of it and decided to draw it. While drawing it, I also realized that I've never drawn Heather looking happy before. Probably because... she's never actually smiled on CBST. Not genuinely, at least. Anyway, I spent a good two and a half hours on this, it was a lot of fun. And I'm pretty proud of it because their hands actually look good!!! And Ember's face is adorable, and Heather's smile is actually realistic. (grins are surprisingly had, you guys) I hope this drawing brings you as much joy as it brings me.
  5. Exactly, that's why it was so surprising. Edit:
  6. TVG scoffed. While y'all are just standing here, I'mma do somethin' aight? Lift was healed, wrapped in blankets, and sent - with a cup of steaming hot chocolate in her little hands - to the couch to go hang out with her dad. Kelsier had just realized that his mistcloak was missing and was quite angry, but then he saw Lift and decided to go sit next to her. Little did he know that Granite had stolen his mistcloak.... And Kelsier was never going getting it back.
  7. TVG jerked a finger at the cruel Narrator. And this is who Narrates "innocent" Butt Venture.
  8. Star tried to focus. "They..." Her eyes fluttered underneath their lids and she raised a trembling finger pointing to a door in the hallway.
  9. Shards, Star killed Lift to prove a point, but you guys are straight up torturing her.
  10. Star gasped suddenly and raised a hand to her forehead. She felt something dark, something pressing at the edges of this place. And... someone screaming from within, begging to be released. She cried out softly. "Xino," she whispered. "Someone is here. Someone anguished." She squeezed her eyes shut, a headache bursting in her mind. "I feel them..." she muttered. "In my mind."
  11. When the internet at your school goes down and for a few horrifying moments, you wonder if your school blocked the Shard and you have a minor crisis.
  12. Ember nodded. Star, Heather would like to know how she may sleep without nightmares.
  13. Ember shrugged. "I suppose. I do not really know what I am missing."
  14. "Nightmares?" Ember asked. She shook her head. "Sleep is odd. I am glad I do not need it."
  15. Ember's back straightened and she physically flinched at Heather's scream. Fear crept into her heart and she stood immediately, sprinting into Heather's room. She looked around for a visible threat and gave Heather a look when she did not see one. "Are you all right?" she said.
  16. Ember sat down in the hallway, burning away the parts of her armor that she didn't need anymore. She'd never liked having her shell on. It wasn't uncomfortable, it just felt... wrong. She looked down and traced the lines in the wood with her finger, pondering on her master, Pheo, and Heather.
  17. Ember paused. "No," she whispered. "My purpose is to follow my Directive." Her eyebrows shot up. "I know! I will tell Star that you are taking a nap so that she may tell me what I am to do." Star, she thought, reaching out, Heather is feeling much better. She requires sleep and has requested to take a nap. What shall I do during her period of stasis? Ember's voice came into Star's head clearly, staring her message. Star's face lit up. Oh, that's wonderful, she said. I'm proud of you, Ember. It's good that she wants to take a nap; Inquisitors require far more sleep than normal. You can do whatever you want, just make sure she has access to you in case she needs anything, okay? I will do that. "Star says that I may do whatever I want." She shrugged, then got up to her feet. "She instructed me to make sure you have access to me if you need anything. I will wait wherever you want me to." "Pheo," Star said, smiling brightly. "Ember just told me that Heather's doing much better. She'll be okay." Star sighed, then repeated it, almost as if to reassure herself. "She'll be okay..."
  18. Ember thought for a moment. "I do not know," she confessed. "Star instructed me to be with you, but sleep is stasis of a sort. I would not know what to do during that time."
  19. Ember blinked. She did not need sleep herself and so found the human need to odd. She cocked her head. "Do you... need help?"
