    Riva's eyes widened at the overturned table and she cursed quietly under her breath. There was a loud uproar in the hall, but Riva kept her feet planted, her back straight, and her hands clasped behind her. She was, after all, the Raveness. A cold, emotionless, shadow of a figure. Or maybe not emotionless. Just... one dimensional. A symbol or a force. Not a human being. --------- Maverick jumped, book slamming shut in reaction to the sudden crash. "Stars above!" he exclaimed. First a sudden lock down and then a massive table crash? This night was looking to be a long one...

    Marsh had to survive on something during the events of HoA and I’m gonna go out on a limb and say it was human flesh. Any diseases from that? Gold exists! So add cannibalism to Marsh’s list of regrets.

    Her scowl only deepened. Easy for you to say, you weren't practically threatened to make your past spill... Whatever. As long as she was out of the house and into the open air, she'd be happier. "So, how long a walk is it to the house you mentioned last night?"

    "Well, your our King's foreign princess, miss." Nicolae smiled in encouragement. "I'm thinkin' you'll be a good queen for us, miss. I'm certainly lookin' forward to spendin' my time with ya."

    Nicolae raised an eyebrow. "But it's a party, ain't it? Least, it was..." With a sigh, he set the chalice down. "Suppose you're right. And I should be doin' what you're a-sayin' anyway; you're my queen, ain't 'cha?"

    The manservant sat down, his spindly legs fitting awkwardly beneath the table. "Ah, the Mendahar court," he mused. He grabbed a chalice and took a sip. "Welcome to our paranoid mess, Miss Eleanor."

    Nicolae blushed, running a hand through his disheveled hair. "Oh, yes, yes, lead the way, Princess."

    "I'mma sure it'll be fine enough," Nicolae insisted. "You're safe, aren't you, and our king is safe in bed. Prob'ly the guards found som'b'dy without no invitation and are freaking out, 'at's all."

    "Mmmm..." Nicolae raised his head in thought for a moment, wringing his scrawny wrist. "Not that I can remember, Miss."

    "M'kay." Nicolae clasped his hands behind his back and rocked back and forth on his massive feet.

    Nicolae took her hand and leaned down, whispering in her ear, "You wouldna happen to know what in hell's a-goin' on, hmm?"

    Nicolae leapt out of his seat. He was a little too drunk to have counted the bells, but he knew something was wrong and he went to Eleanor first. "I'm at your aid, Miss," he said loyally. @Condensation

    When the lot of them came into the room, Rose glowered at all of them. Jahora in particular was a victim of her steely gaze. Despite her talk with him, she still looked as if she could kill someone. As if, in fact, she longed to kill someone. Her fists were clenched white, fingernails biting into her palms.

    Guards began to spill into the room. For Riva, it was only worth the raise of an eyebrow. Oh, what now? she thought, crossing her arms and leaning back against the wall. Maverick, however, the guards' presence spooked him. Stars above! He hid behind the pages of his mystery novel and tried not to tremble. @Robin Custos

    Nicolae noticed too late that his king was gone. He probably should have followed him back to his room. Chuckling, he shrugged, picking at the food on his plate while surveying the ballroom for someone to dance with later. The queen-to-be stuck out to him. She was a nice one, he'd be looking forward to spending time around- er, serving her. He knew she was off-limits, but the king couldn't stop him from mooning over her. A glance at the Raveness, however, curtailed that line of thinking. Mostly.

    After Rose had scarfed down her pastry, she folded her arms impatiently. "Are we going or what?" she shouted.

    So, uh, I just finished reading through the Mistborn trilogy for the second time in my life and, yeah, no book(s) will ever, ever be as good as those. To me, at least. Those books have done far too much for my mental health for me to forget about their majesty. Now that I've finished that, I am free to read Rhythm of War... even though I really, really don't want to. :unsure: I know I'll love it, so I'll do it, but... yeah. Y'all read way too fast and it makes me feel a little worthless. 

    In more positive news though, I've just been so overwhelmed with love for Marshy recently. He gives me life and he deserves all the hugs. So, I really, really want to write - from his perspective - what happens to him after we last see him in HoA. Depending on how well it turns out, I'll either make it its own topic in the fanworks category or I'll post it on my blog, or in a status update. So, yeah, be on the lookout for that, I'm super excited to read it.

      Like... maybe you can't finish RoW as fast as I can, but you can certainly draw better and faster than I can! You're also much better at RPing on a percentage basis, which is bad for me and good for you. Y'know, because of my number of posts. :P

      It's a guess, not an exact affirmation. But it's true.
