    Well, Jaywalk thought, can’t escape him, I guess. A guard holding a spear began to approach Jacob, but Jaywalk waved him off, shaking his head.

    Jaywalk and Granite entered a great castle, archers patrolling at the turrets. Max gave up on annoying Jacob and warped himself to his upstairs toom.

    Max turned, power of the void swirling around his fingers. “What are you doing here?”

    Rose looked at her in horror.

    Boyfriend? Rose wondered.

    “Do you know where Mom is?”

    But the portal Jacob entered went to the other side of the void.

    “You don’t know who I am?” Rose asked.

    Jaywalk shrugged. “We’ll see about that.” The three of them faded into the void. ”Aunt SoT?” a girl’s voice asked. “Where is he taking my brother?”
