  1. it greatly benefits
  2. Ok, this is three word story! For those who don't know, each person posts three words that continue the same story. its pretty much that simple. Obviously you wont usually be able to create full sentences, but thats part of the fun! So here goes: One day, Chaos2651... (yes, this story is going to be about chaos. Why? coz its fun. Take that, chaos!)
  3. I'm gonna jump the gun and say "no" on that last one for the moment. However, you'd likely have to check with The Lord Ruler to get a definitive answer. In regards to other forum games, I am not against them at all. Three word story is a fun one, as is neverending story. I'm thinking an association game that ties into the books somehow, like a character naming game, where one has to post with a character's name that begins with the last letter of the name of the previous character posted. Ooh, I just had an idea... i loves me some three word story. It can get pretty crazy. In fact, imma go make a topic for it.
  4. That's awesome. I love the protomen. Have you heard the whole rock opera this is from? Now, in a mash up of the last two posts, i present to you:
  5. What's everyone's take on forum games? i was thinking of starting one or two up coz i'm bored, and they provide some fun. I just want to know what everyone likes and would play, i dont wanna start a game up that no one would participate in. What games do you like, what games DON'T you like? I was thinking of maybe starting up a 3 word story, or person below, or if we get enough people, mafia/werewolf. Also, mods, just to make sure i didnt miss something, there's nothing against this in any rule of the forums, is there? I know some places dont like forum games, and have rules against them (can sort of "artifically" inflate post counts of people playing it, especially something like 3 word story)
  6. I figured we should note down anyone's gamer tags on whatever systems and methods they use, so we can all play video games together if we want! I'll try to keep the main post updated with everyone's address, but if you don't see it go up a while after you post it, feel free to poke me! If i'm missing your favorite game community thingy, or username on whatever, just let me know! If we want to, i'll even throw up specific usernames in specific games (like MMORPGs for example) This way we have one giant community thread for everyone who wants to play stuff with each other! 7. Well, a lot of the ads say they're working, but that's only as trustworthy as the person writing the ad. Though, i wouldn't want to anger someone whom I am selling a tank to, working or not. If they get it fixed, i'd be screwed. On the other hand, if they sell tanks, are you really gonna want to come to them with a complaint when your own tank doesn't work? That's true, but i really dont see them owning to terribly many tanks. Its just not something many people commonly have. It's not like you can run down to "steve's used tank depo" and grab a few when ya need em.
  8. Well, a lot of the ads say they're working, but that's only as trustworthy as the person writing the ad. Though, i wouldn't want to anger someone whom I am selling a tank to, working or not. If they get it fixed, i'd be screwed. also, my friend sent me this and i enjoyed it, so thought i'd share some more.
  9. Who's gonna dare to charge you anything when you're in a TANK? This is a pretty valid point I'm certainly going to have to agree with. If someone drives up to me in a tank and asks for something, i dont care what it is, i'm gonna give it to em and not worry about ANY compensation.
  10. ^this^ I leave music on, then tune it out while reading, usually. When i take a break and/or stop for whatever reason, if i dont have music playing (or TV on or something) the world feels lifeless/really silent and it feels weird to me, so i keep something going on to help me transition out of the book better.
  11. Read the first one. Took 200 pages for anything to happen that I really cared about, and then a bit longer to get to any character I could care about. The end was greatly unsatisfying as well. It was hardly an endorsement for me to pick up the second, although I do have it and will eventually read it. I have to agree with this stance. I read like 75% of the first book and had to stop. It was so painfully slow and boring, i just couldn't take it anymore. Certainly didn't prompt me to want to continue any further in the series. Anyways, i recommend Infected by Scott sigler. Really great horror/dark sci-fi novel. The sequel is awesome too. Also, most of his work is offered as a free podcast book over at podiobooks.com, so you honestly have no reason NOT to check it out, unless you don't like the genre, of course. In fact, i recommend ALL of his works. They're great. Infected is a good starting point, though, if you ask me.
  12. So anyone who knows me well enough knows that i'm a fan of sharing links i find that are odd, which is exactly what i intended to do with this post, share a link. But then i figured that we had no common thread for that on this forum yet, so I figured I would start one! So, long story short, this thread is for the collective sharing of links we find weird/cool/neat/important! Anywho, what I wanted to share: Apparently, YOU CAN ACTUALLY BUY TANKS ONLINE. REAL TANKS
  13. That... would be too convoluted, in my opinion. And I can't think of any way to explain a reason for it without sounding completely ridiculous. Yeah, i think that sounds a bit too akward for it to be true, and a bit "deus-ex-machina" to be like "oh, coincidentally, light years away, roshar is at JUST the right location to give them their powers!"
  14. Yeah he is.
  15. I'm 65% sure this guy is a spambot. If he's not, then I offer him my sincere apologies. Yeah, I'm quite certain as well. To what purpose, I don't know - it doesn't seem to be selling anything or linking to anything. If this person is, indeed, a real person, then I apologize - and tell them to make a post referencing Brandon Sanderson and/or one of the books, or Kar will bring the BanAxe down on his spambot head. The way the post is laid out makes me think it's some kind of personals ad, but... I would expect a spambot to at least list their contact information in the post itself if they were trying to scam you. It's confusing. Could be a failed spambot, i.e. one that doesnt properly work with this specific forum software/layout and failed to post spam info in its profile or something. Also, the mods could do an IP trace, see if it turns up any significant info, though if its a spambot from some kind of virus and/or spyware this would turn up nothing of note, it would just look like some dude posting from his house. Though if its posted from countries famous for spam (nigeria, anyone?) that could get us somewhere.
  16. We should totally make a game out of it. New feature request: Everytime someone posts, chaos' posts drops by 1/2. Everytime chaos posts, everyone's posts drop by 2. See if we can beat him.
  17. Awesome *Obtained negative post count!* it would totally fall like a brick.
  18. New feature request: For every post chaos makes, remove 2 from his post count. ;D
  19. The bad twin is obviously more powerful, since he's so evil.
  20. I really like the new look and all, but just something small i wanted to put out there, if possible, that could help it look a bit better if you ask me (also it bothers me slightly). The navigation buttons at the top (the Home, Books, Blog, Wiki, Forum, Mistborn RP, About buttons) really have the look of tabs, like you would have in windows applications (browsers like chrome and firefox for example). Would it be possible to remove the bit of border underneath the current area of the site you're on to fully give it that "Tabbed" appearance? E.G. if i'm on the forums, have the bit of yellow border under the "Forums" button non-existant so it lookslike its a selected tab. I just think that'd make the navigation bits up there look really slick. If it's not possible or too much work or whatever (i dont know what the code looks like, obviously) i wouldn't worry about it, i just think it'd look good. Edit: also, the navigation bar up there looks different on the forums than on any other page (slightly smaller on the forums). Unifying that would make it look better too, as an overall thing. If you have to choose which, i go with the appearance on the forums, i think those navigation buttons look best.
  21. In the prelude, when they gave up the oathpact and all that, they mentioned one of them (talenel) all ready being dead and pretty strongly imply that he will remain dead after the oathpact is given up, so that's at least one we can relatively safely say is dead, though for good i suppose remains to be seen. In fact we know Taln is not dead as he makes an appearance in the epilogue and Brandon has hinted that he may possibly be a major PoV character in a later book. err, Does it actually name him in the epilogue? If so, i must have missed it, i thought he was unnamed (its been a bit since i've finished, maybe i forgot, and hoid is spouting his name every other sentence ) He says: I think it is pretty much implied that Taln and Talenel is the same person, both have similar names and both are heralds. The former is probably a nick-name, or maybe his original name, while the other one is the name given to him by the people and the Vorin church. i see. Ok so, perhaps all of the heralds are still around.
  22. A thought occurs: How is Elhokar seeing these creatures? He obviously doesn't draw like shallan, which was the medium through which she saw them and she didn't see them in mirrors, and jasnah mentioned that seeing these creatures (outside of shadesmar) arent something that happens to her. So it seems to me that Elhokar's version is a bit different. Shallan saw them because her subconcious or something was picking them up and throwing them into her drawings (they were ever only there when she let her mind wander when drawing). Elhokar is actually SEEING the things show up to him. Now, he may very well be a (natural) soulcaster, but his situation just seems a bit different to me. Thoughts?
  23. I would. Just on the back, maybe, right at the nape of the neck, ya know?

  25. Smoke is hardly thin air. (in fact, you could probably technically call it "thick air" ) Smoke implies that there is something more substantial to it (particles of something) than just plain ol' empty air. In fact, given the dangers of smoke inhalation, and the dirt and debris it would cause, changing into air would actually be a much better, safer scenario, so there has to be a reason WHY she didn't just make it into air, but made it into smoke instead. To me, there's just things that don't add up with soulcasting, that could have made things much easier. E.G. soulcasting permanent stone/metal bridges closer to the staging areas (stone/metal cant be burned down obviously, and is much harder to destroy, and permanent bridges all over would make life easier for their assaults in general), the aforementioned stone becoming smoke, and not something easier to deal with in general (air), and the fact that NONE of the soulcasting we see involves making ANYTHING from thin air, though it's obviously possible (like i said, they surely didn't have some building "template" they turned into stone, that would just be highly impractical to get around)
