  1. Okay so let me explain... I was super bored yesterday, so I ended up doing this... You know how Brandon puts up those little percent bars on his website? I'm keeping track of those with the graph paper, and the spots around it will fill with stuff~ the title, cover, the pdf Brandon gives out with viewpoint and interlude characters laid out, etc.~ I might post again, in a few months, as it will inevitably fill slowly, but surely. (Also, I realized that the word Stormlight has 10 letters, so I colored the first 3 letter the color of the first three books, and will fill in number 4 once it's out. )
  2. Do we have any ideas about how may dawnshards there are/were? I just realized I had no idea. Also, if all they are is a Perfectly cut gem, could our characters theoretically make another one? That would be interesting to read about! I like the idea of it being accidental too. I was on another thread talking about his same theory eariler, and someone was talking about how they thought people did everything in Aimia to hide soulcsators there or something? but I'd have to go look back at it again. It didn't make sense to me, (definitely the hiding the soulcasters part, and kind of the scouring being on purpose part), and thinking about it now, I think it being accidental makes a lot more sense, at least in my head. I don't think any person or group of people would have been okay with killing such a large percent of the Aimians and destroying the island unless it was absolutely critical to the survival of all mankind, and by the time of the scouring, the Desolations were, (at least for the time being), over. Also I think something that big, (the decision to destroy Aimia) would have been forced by something big enough that there would be more memories of it. I don't know, it being on purpose just does not feel right to me.
  3. oh I know.. I just try to ignore that fact most of the time...
  4. First of all, absolutely not, at least for my sake, okay? My death list isn't very original. The top two already bit the dust, (Amaram, Sadeas) but Moash and Taravangian for sure... For me, I didn't just hate Moash after everything in WoR, I just never really liked him all that much, so when he did go bad, it just made it worse. Taravangian keeps hurting and getting in the way of my favorite characters, so for that he must die, even if he's kind of fascinating to read about.
  5. Thanks! I knew the stuff about being loosely involved and being offered a shard, but it's all very interesting. I can't wait to get an answer from Brandon on this
  6. Going back a few posts-- I think this is very possible, especially if our theory about her 4th oath would be is correct... She has truly built so many parts of her life around looking at things logically- her religious views, her career, her relationships, her goals- something like this would be hard for her to swear to.
  7. I think it makes a lot of sense, and yes the timeline sure makes sense with past events. The oaths that have been sworn on screen were all during/right before something huge in the story. Sometimes I feel like the Jasnah and renarin scene is a little bit...not ignored, but temporarily forgotten due to the other events happening then, but it really was a huge point for both characters, and I feel like it would have been a fantastic time for an oath to have been sworn. I really like the theme of the oath too. Great for Jasnah
  8. Based on powers alone, I really like the Windrunners. After that, I really like Truthwatchers. As far as which order I would be, I would definitely be an Elsecaller. I think my personality matches them best.
  9. I was thinking this morning and somehow got here... Pre-shattering, was Hoid originally for or against shattering Adonalsium? It would put a new perspective on things if he wasn't wouldn't it? Anyways, I hope someone has asked Brandon so they know the answer to this!
  10. That's a really good point. Odium would need to do that wouldn't he? He's traveling all around the Cosmere splintering others, and to do that he can't afford to be weakened by leaving any of his power truly invested in another place any more than he has too.
  11. First of all, awesome theory. If this is right, wouldn't this mean that there are 9 magic systems in the cosmere, some of which we may not know about? (Unless there is more than one from a single shardworld.) That's an awesome thought. It would also mean we can predict the ones we don't know once we know all the Unmade and their broken magics.
  12. Also, don't. We've all be there in this fandom.
  13. Weren't soulcasters man-made though? Such a valuable object would not just be left there in the first place, even if there was repercussions. If the consequences of their use was so big, I don't think the world of Roshar would have ever let themselves grow dependent on them, at least this soon after the "scouring", if it was indeed a man-inflicted event. People right afterward would have passed along that soulcasters were bad if they were so passionate about it that they'd destroy a nation and its peoples.
  14. I agree with your assessment there. While I knew her death could be a possibility, the fact that it actually happened felt very sudden and strange. I knew there would be more to the story with that. And with Venli being so important now, it makes a lot more sense in my head that she'd be a flashback character.
  15. I like that idea...I was never sure about who about who "scoured" Aimia, and I remember no mention of it in the book. The Unmade have been on Roshar for a long time. They've been active outside of now, and looking for a Dawnshard seems like something they would be doing in their spare time.
  16. We're all hoping.
  17. Thanks! I haven't been getting any information on that so I didn't know, but hey, that's cool!
  18. Well Doomslug herself can hardly be considered a species. Also a thought, has anyone asked Brandon if Doomslug is really that important? A WoB on it would be very nice. At the moment, I really don't think there's much going on there...
  19. I didn't know how much I apparently needed this. The WoB we looked at talked about burning shardplate, but I don't feel like it helped a ton in this situation. Honorblades are pretty different. Although now that I'm thinking about it, it dosen't matter~they are both invested in/part of Honor, so the situation is basically the same. It would be interesting to have Hoid try it cannonically...
  20. I know right! At first, I was kind of bored with them, mostly because I wanted to read about Kaladin and co., but now, with all the new information from the books, as well as forum discussions and whatnot, I'm getting hyped! Too bad it will be so long before book 4. We're in this together.
  21. Now the real question was if the two planets were 10- or 9-centric before the shards of Honor, Cultivation and Odium got there... Edit: Do we have a WoB on it?
  22. @Dalakaar I think people have talked about that, or something similar, but I don't know about it... We know that although they did break their oaths, the Herald's didn't die as punishment or anything. They lived, as we know. Therefore we know that they didn't become the Unmade. So the Unmade coming from the breaking of the oath would mean they came from it as some sort of byproduct of the break, and I don't see how that would work exactly...we've never seen any other side effects of broken oaths in Roshar, or even a mention or foreshadowing of something similar. @Toaster Retribution Aimia is definitely hiding something huge and BAM is certainly that. I'm on board with this theory
  23. Man, every time I think about Jasnah, I just have so many questions about her past! I wish her book was way sooner, to be honest.
  24. Love how @Mage of Lirigon tried to bring the thread back and then it went straight back to being gay. Lol
  25. Yeah I mean, if you're going to have an ideal be the same for all of the orders, it would have to be pretty vague. There are some huge differences between each of the orders.
