  1. So, just to clarify, a Misting could burn: the metal you are a Misting of atium the alloy of atium and his metal lerasium
  2. I doubt it. They have a good definition of a god metal. Mistings can burn it in addition to their metal. Somebody may get the idea of looking for alloys of gold. Yes, so useless that Kelsier showed Vin atium first. Yet the problem is that a systematic of 8 ordinary alloys and two god metals which do not have alloys looks symmetrical enough to be acceptable. But eight ordinary metals, one god metal governed by other rules and the odd gold is far less systematic. It may invite research. Would just dropping gold out of common knowledge work? That is Kelsier and the crew discover on screen that gold is an allomantic metal and that causes them to discover the eleventh metal? Just an old book telling you about an eleventh metal would be a bad reason to research atium due to its cost, but if it tells you about a new metal that is something else entirely.
  3. Yes that was my point. Yes, that much is clear. The problem is that this distinction is incompatible with F-Steel just speeding up time. A-Bendalloy and F-Steel must be based on different principles.
  4. Though, if every allomancer can burn atium, how can it still be plausible that Scadrians consider gold a god metal?
  5. It is mental speed. If F-Steel were just a personal movable time bubble it should accelerate all your activities including thinking.
  6. Partially. If that were the full explanation F-steel and F-zinc would be no different.
  7. But you have to think to pick a code. But once you have decided, that is final. And that is the basic function of an oath. You are not supposed to change your mind.
  8. Why? By which reason is Division worse than soulcasting to fire?
  9. A gigantic marshmellow man.
  10. Kelsier was a ghost. Hoid had to use a 'boat'. The differences cannot be fully explained with the different planets.
  11. She need not survive. Make Straff himself the villain of part 2. Mistborn vs. Mistborn.
  12. The logical consequence would be to merge Shan and Zane and hence the politically sensitive part about a harem to breed allomancers. Eliminating Zane if you will. Eliminating Straff would turn Elend into a house lord. That is unlikely to work, if you want to keep him unmarried. So if you wish to cut people, it would have to be Zane. In fact, you could make Straff into a Mistborn. That would explain even better why he is disappointed about a non-allomancer son and makes replacing him with a younger allomantic daughter plausible.
  13. Why? Deliberate and calculating for sure, but vengeful? She could have turned only the air around their legs to molten lead or find many more horrrible ways to kill them. Nor did she go there first chance she had to clean out the vermin. No, she did it on the occasion she had a lesson to teach. She cared little about those killed in the mean time. She shows just an incredible haughtiness even disdain for common people, not vengeance. (Scadrial) Most street criminals are men. Just a matter of statistics. This may simply be overinterpretation. And so were the Ghostbloods. Jasnah could not leave witnesses. The moment she entered that street these criminals were dead men walking. That raises the question whether they were observed anyway.
  14. Economic efficiency basically is the issue, not norms. They are Skaa anyway, so why care about norms? Norms are for people, they are property. No, training soldiers costs money. Soldiers rarely fight, but they often march. So you have to ask who is likelier to finish a training that involves regular marches of 30km with heavy loads? Also, you need your Skaa to make new Skaa. And based on that reasoning you will make a preselection. These considerations go away, as soon as pewter enters the game of course. But a woman often winning physical contests with men is supicious. They may have a seeker around. So Ham as a woman requires dropping her close connection to the guards.
  15. Yet, a declared allomancer has to be noble, don't they? A Pewterarm masquerading as an ordinary soldier works for a man, but a woman? Sure, the noble houses should have female guards in their allomantic component, but the janissaries?
  16. So gold is supposed to show you an alternate version of yourself. For that to happen the deviation should be plausible. Forgery manifests such an alternate version. So would an Augur be the ideal Forger? Augur commonly do not control which version of themselves they see. Could this be just a result of people not practising with gold due to cost and lack of applicability?
  17. Not really. They are street bandits and presumably murderers. If they are arrested, tried and found guilty, they will be executed. Such is the law in that area. Or they will go free. Scaring them into changing their ways will hardly work.
  18. Trell is the vessel of the Shard of Abstract Reasoning.
  19. Almost certainly. They have plants with arcane powers. Only on Patji.
  20. She should not have made a lesson out of this. One does not kill people for teaching purposes. Yet, had she been in that situation for any other reason, surely yes, they deserved it.
  21. (Roshar) Kelsier is likely to equate most powerful entities in the Cosmere with nobility and woud treat them accordingly.
  22. It is mentioned that Harmony provided people wombs of rock, which they emerged out of in the park in the center of Elendel. Wax apparently believes that. The problem is that Harmony did no such thing. He moved the caves there, but Rashek, not Harmony had built them. So, don't they know the truth? That seems extremely unlikely, as they know the story of Spook and Sazed. So is that an inconvient fact, which theologists in principle would affirm, but not volunteer? "Best not mentioned"?
  23. So Kelsier is kind of a prophet telling fundamental truths? Right, so let's touch the dicey subject. What is Ruin in their theology? Yes.
  24. If the only thing Aviars did is hiding you from creatures that do not exist on the mainland, Aviars wouldn't sell except as novelty items.
  25. Yet Steris calls a kandra 'Holy One'. She is a Survivorist. So what is going on there?
