Plausible. To whom? Hoid and Harmony will be livid. Roshar would profit. Effectively Roshar has just switched sides. Ehm. She is releasing Odium. The rest of the Cosmere won't be happy.
-
So you go to great lengths to look human, but then you act extremely strangely? A Kandra or Sleepless are among the most implausible option.
-
Therein we have the issue. Up to most recently, the biggest threat to Roshar and to the Cosmere were identical. That is no longer clear. And what is a threat? If Cultivation and Taravangian-Odium make a deal, will that be a threat to or salvation of Roshar?
-
We can assume that Rayse was raving or had a hidden god complex, using a royal "we". But that is boring. So who helped him? Cultivation - divorces do happen Mercy - my personal favorite The Ire (they may have the means to forge a godkiller weapon) A Dawnshard What do you think? Cultivation would be most fascinating, but I am afraid the evidence points at Mercy. That Shard was seen with the other suspect at at the site of a prior crime.
-
Now. (yes, I always wanted to do the laconic thing) That is the other possibility. No, seriously, Hoid is perfectly capable of playing a long game. Mentionig this now makes a lot of sense. Shallan and Adolin will remember this conversation. And they will rather sooner than later acquire a short history of Scadrial and Nalthis in book form. Giving this hint in a way that makes it look like Wit dropped that moniker to get his message through is a rather clever ploy. Even if it is wrong Mraize would hardly admit that. He likely knows Wit is in a category of his own. Yes. Why? Thaidakar may be dangerous due to the people he can send. No, I am sorry, Wit may also be betraying Shallan. True Interesting

Actually I am wondering what Jasnah thinks about Hoid's statement that he would let Roshar burn. In the long run I can see irreconcilable differences coming up.
-
That Taravangian would not report that the Knights Radiant know that Glys has been altered. It is much too dangerous. He cannot know what other sources of information Odium has and there is nothing to gain by not mentioning that. And it is absolutely clear that Taravangian knew how significant Renarin is.
-
He is. Think of what he did to those on that plantation. It is not as if he had a choice. His morals don't have to change. Kelsier would wade through lakes of blood if it took that to defend Scadrial. It would also not hurt if his organisation were economically profitable. But then he would act consistently. First and foremost he would consider Odium a threat. And he would agree with Hoid. He'd watch Roshar burn. And his organisation would not hunt Jasnah or do deals with Odium's forces. OK, that raises a point. That what makes us think that Kelsier is confirmed is coming from Hoid, isn't it? So I have to ask. How trustworthy is Hoid? Could Hoid be framing Kelsier? He surely does not like him. And he would not cry if Adolin or Shallan finished what Rashek had begun. Or one more step of indirection, is somebody playing Hoid?
-
Why? The Fused may be of the opinion that everybody would know and there's no need to mention it. Raising the question why the Knights Radiant installed them. Why a second line of defense only there? It looks like they knew that the rock was a weakness.
-
The stones seem to have a long memory. Did the rock remember the Dawnsingers?
-
How could he not? Taravangian was present when the expedition to Lasting Integrity was decided upon and Renarin's suitability discussed. Was he? Well, even if not, Hoid was. Though not that you mention it, where exactly was she? Could she have been responsible for Kaladin's red eyes?
-
Restore? I have this nasty feeling that restoration is not the full truth. Why do you think, Vyre has gone incurably blind?
-
We are looking at human activities. Evolution isn't. It is just what happens, if you do nothing. Hence HArmony. Structured and ordered aggression. It may not be a necessary result, but it can be easily explained and justified. Odium is not chaos. It is hatred. Life out of hatred and aggression. Developmentlight, Colonialisationlight, Clearinglight, Agriculturelight, Slavelight. Basically more fields or people by the sword. Passion lacks the element of procreation which Lifelights generates. And this looks like the nice interpretation.
-
We agree. Sorry. Well, no. You don't have to ask this. Judging yourself by your actions alone is a valid way to look at yourself. Maybe a bit limited. The point would be to answer the question honestly, if you ask it.
-
Cultivation already is selective breeding. She is Cultivation, not Nature or Evolution. She does interfere. If there is a Shard of evolution, it would be Harmony. Did anybody ask what happens if you combine a normal light and an anti-light? Voidlight + anti-Lifelight -> Suicidelight? Exterminationlight? Also, does this answer how a combined Shard would be?
-
Or it was simply present when he was stricken down and is good at remembering routes. No supernatural explanation is necessary. Presumably the steward mentioned in the prologue. The interesting point is the aviar. This points to an independent population of Terrispeople. I would speculate that they are associated with Mercy. Kind of the natural Shard refugees would go to. Yes. So we can safely conclude that he was not a Ghostblood. We are dealing with a previously unknown group. I would say it is not healing. And probably also not that concealing ability. Mraize found them anyway.
-
No, I am sorry, but I have to disagree. DEFEAT is hanging over them. But not DOOM. Doom would be a cool Shard, by the way. Rayse really wanted to exterminate. Taravangian, for now at least, wants to rule. Surrender and negotiation are again realistic options. So would Jasnah. And, presumably, Dalinar. And Hoid would see a whole world burn. Singling out Kelsier is plainly unfair. And, to be blunt, you really cannot let somebody like Kaladin, who would not, rule. It takes a certain ruthlessness.
-
Are they both bound as a couple? That is, if they both agreed to cancel the contest, could they?
-
No. Taravangian is even less in tune with Odium than Rayse was. Rayse at least embraced passion. Taravangian is about as controlled and dispassionate as people get. Yes. And that adds an interesting variable. Rayse could wait for centuries if a plan required it. Taravangian can not. They are.Yet the Singers were never the true enemy or even on their side. Odium could never contine a Singer vs. Humans war outside Roshar. The Fused cannot leave and Singers cannot even reproduce outside Roshar. Honor's side is in deep, deep trouble and does not even know it. Begin SA 5 with the assassination of Dalinar Kholin. For example. I don't think he will, but I am afraid Dalinar will have to die in SA 5. There is supposed to be a second series. We have seen Shardic transfers via Nightblood in the penultimate book of the first series. I cannot see how you can get out of the level of direct Shardic clashes. SA 5 confining Odium to Roshar again and the second series just be a mopping up action against the Ghostbloods would, frankly, be boring and disappointing. I cannot see how SA 5 could not have Odium being set free. It looks to me like Rhythm of War really copied from The Final Empire. They think that they are winning, but are losing even worse unknowingly.
-
That touches another issue. You cannot harm the champion. Hence the surpression field has to be switched off. That seems to match the Intent of Odium. Yes. I would say that it says to the death. The fight will go on, at worst until one of them expires from old age. It does not cover a double kill. Odium could send a suicide bomber. Taravangian is, though. They will try to get Ishar and the Honor Blades in SA 5. It is just too obvious. So I'd say book 2.
-
But that is not what he wants. To a man like Taravangian that is peanuts. He wants to get out of the Rosharan system. He does not have to win. His loophole must not help him to win. He must get out of the battle of champions or get a result not covered in the agreement, like both combatants killing each other. Making Dalinar give up runs the chance of this counting as a victory. Preferably he has to get out of the duel in such a way that it is a tactical loss to the Coalition, like killing Dalinar (again a mutual kill looks like an extremely attractive option) or destroying Urithiru (letting an enemy you must not harm onto the roof of your main base is a bad idea).
-
That is kind of an exaggeration, but has a core of truth. Not mutually exclusive notions. I think what we are seeing is that the sides are becoming clearer. Like at the beginning of Rhythm of War we are seeing garbage collection and Ialai is history. Likewise we are now seeing the Singers having started to go off screen and we will seecore conflict among Shards. In which way is a downer ending and a conclusive ending a contradiction? Please explain. I think SA5 will be that. Well, we are set up for a major setback the enemy is ahead in information (Dalinar would be horrified) weapons are ready a decisive battle is agreed upon we have a traitor, the worst traitor imaginable - a Shard I am going to make a bold prediction. At the end of SA5 Cultivation will have switched sides and Odium will be free.
-
We have seen Nightform Relayform Direform Stormform Envoyform Of those Stormform and Envoyform are old news. Nightform was in the Songs. Relayform and Direform are completely new. Any idea what they are capable of or how they look?
-
I suspect that their story line is just not finished. They still are in Lasting Integrity at the end of the book. We agree that SA5 will begin on the next day, don't we? That means that they have a Scadrian worldhopper with them in a city that regularly is visited by off world traders. Circumstances forcing Felt to reveal himself can be imagined. You just do not take Felt with you into Shadesmar and nothing happens. Chekhov's gun. It is a transitional work and that shows.
-
Yes. But, it is still possible that Kelsier is leading them without having founded them. That is true, but makes me suspicious. The bait is too obvious. Well. Kalak may be mistaken about or ignorant of the most recent change in leadership. But that indeed is a problem for Kelsier == Thaidakar. And there is one more. Why would Kelsier use an alias? Unless of course Thaidakar is what Sovereign or Survivor actually sounds like in North Scadrian. It may be as simple as the Ghostbloods being an organization that is millenia old but Kelsier was just powerful enough to make sure that "old Thaidakar" suffered an "unfortunate accident". No special knowledge required.
