  1. You should have made him a Gold compounder, but maybe that would have been too improbable.
  2. Alum watched from outside the building, seeing activity inside. The training compound was part of a larger building, one that sat in the middle of the crater, somehow completely unharmed. He noted strange shapes on the sides of the walls. Some sort of Selish magic? He needed to read up on that place. Alum began to climb the small hill that led up to the front door. He had theorized that the places still standing were the most protected, and therefore the most important. Ramshackle huts and buildings had sprung up all along the edge of the crater, but two locations formed an island within them. The massive spike had intimidated him, and he thought it better to get his bearings first. Alum stopped just outside, hand poised to knock. "Spikes," Pyrus said. "Prejudice is." "Right." He pulled out some cloth from his bag and wrapped it around both sleeves, covering both spikes. No point raising any alarms. "I don't want to change my spikes here, so let's hope I'm not going to get mugged. We're going with Alethi worldhopper?" "Yes. Alum." He was no Lightweaver, no good at acting a part. But he - Alum, now - could carry off a pseudonym passably. He felt for his chalk, several colors lining the slots of his pocket, and his two Scadrian pistols. Then he pushed open the door.
  3. This is my character's introduction. It's presumably some way into the 16 Year Peace, once significant rebuilding has taken place, although I'm not pinning an exact date in case there's an RP set during the period that I want to join.
  4. Okay, doing some minimal research on nuclear weaponry has probably gotten me onto several government watchlists. But I recommend that the thermonuke detonated above surface level, to minimize radiation fallout. This should limit it to a couple months at absolute most.
  5. I like the idea of the nuke only completely decimating certain parts of the city, with half of it being a massive smoking crater. (And a little island in the crater where the Canton of Combat is). That way, if there’s a location we want to carry over, we can just say it was in the flattened part of the city, not the crater part of the city. Over 16 years the flattened part would be almost completely rebuilt, and new alleys and buildings would spring up inside the crater. And I believe the Alleyway bar has been decimated on multiple occasions.
  6. Now imagine if we all had copperminds...
  7. 2 years and 4 months before, in fact. Minus a few months for the undercover era, which there are no public records of.
  8. The character system happened at the same time as the combat rules, I think. Early April. See, I prefer the 0th era system. The Guild War being Era 2 seems weird to me - and besides, given that before Challengd of Champions the system wasn’t even formalised, it makes much more sense to be an Era 0. That would signal that it’s not very streamlined and the system was different - the (not so) distant history of the Alleyverse. I also like the idea of each Era having a discrete ‘plot’ or series of events, so making the shadowdays Era 1 means that there isn’t really anything that happens in it. If we make it Era 0, then it can be clearer that not a lot of stuff occurred in it, whereas Era 1 can be a much more cohesive and interesting story.
  9. What makes the most sense to me is a division into Eras 0, 1 and 2, with the division between Eras 0 and 1 being somewhere between the expanse of inactivity and the beginning of Calm Before the Storm. If I had to pick an exact date, it would either be at the formation of the Ghostbloods (March 14), or at the formation of the combat rules (April 10). The latter would make the most sense to me, as it was the point that the system of characters and combat was formalized. Everything before that is fairly fluid in terms of RPing, everything after being fairly RP dedicated.
  10. At what is hopefully a safe distance, someone sets up TV cameras. This is going to be awesome on film.
  11. I’m planning on asking people to fill in at least some information on their own characters, what they’ve done, where they’ve been etc., especially for people who haven’t done a lot of earth-shattering activities. Rhaizen, Mac, Voidus and a few others being the exceptions, I should think.
  12. On the Fandom site, I think you have to switch to Desktop mode to edit a page. If you’re using IOS, press the share button (the square with the arrow pointing upward) that’s on the bottom bar, and scroll along until you see ‘Request Desktop Mode’. The page will reload with the desktop version of the site, and you can make edits from there. Not sure how it works for Android.
  13. Storms, I didn’t include the Newcago Court in my guild count. That pushes the Canton down to third! Sorry.
  14. Sounds good. The only problem is citations - you’ll need to list some, or indicate where someone else can find them. Your help would be excellent, however.
  15. @Nohadon A page for that has already been created (albeit it’s rather empty), so make sure to update that one instead of creating a new one. And I’ll invite you to the PM!
  16. Thanks! History class is finally paying off! I’m working in chronological order, starting with the oldest posts, to make sure I don’t miss too many things. Some of this stuff is super obscure, though, so I’ll need people who were actually there to describe some stuff. For example: why did the Duel of Ages occur? What was the primary motivation for that? If anyone actually knows, if they fill that out, that would be excellent. I’m working on the Arena of Valor Page right now, which puts me near the bottom of page 3 of the forum. Only 70 more threads to go!
  17. A PM would be an excellent idea. Now that we’ve got an outline of everything, starting tomorrow I’ll go chronologically and add pages for all the major events, occurrences, and activities. Things like assassinations will be difficult to cover since they’re conducted privately, and keeping track of each character’s involvement with every single event...ugh. Once this thing is up and running we’ll need people to start filling in their own character pages and synopses. Stuff they know about important events will be helpful too, if they can cite their sources.
  18. cracks knuckles Time to dive down the rabbit hole. Username is MetaTerminal, same as here. I’ll start with some basic instruction pages. I’m not even gonna attempt to describe any chronology yet. That’ll take a fully funded research team with radar, microscopes, and at least one fine-toothed comb.
  19. I have free time and a willingness to reread hundreds of hours of forum posts, so sign me up! In fact, I can get a basic outline done by tomorrow, if we’re going to use a separate site from the Coppermind. Obviously, I’m the least experienced person in the room when it comes to Alleyverse lore, but I can get a how-to Page, a list of characters and guilds, stuff like that up in a day or less. From my research the easiest to use is the Wikia system, although they’ve got a bad rep from ads and the like. MediaWiki is what Wikipedia uses, although that’s more complex and geared towards higher-traffic sites.
  20. It’s an honour to be here. From what I’ve seen of online communities (I’ve been in a few that have died off in my time), something like a wiki is proportional to the amount of activity found in that fandom. Given the aforementioned influx of people, setting up a wiki (and making it easier for newbies like myself to catch up on the long and complicated history of the Alleyverse) might increase the amount of activity. Feedback loops ensure. Or it’s a terrible idea, and no one will curate it. But you seem like a pretty decent group. (Can’t say anything about the baking yet.)
  21. Extremely new to the forum, literally just joined right now. Looking over the forum’s past, I can say: a wiki page would be an excellent idea. It could piggyback off of Coppermind, or use a free software like the Fandom site. I’m not an expert here, so take all advice with a grain of minuscule salt, but I would be willing to help out or facilitate it and it would bring a lot of value in my opinion. Anyways, I’ll be working on my character for the next few days, so you’ll see me around eventually.
