  1. So I can't find it mentioned or talked about anywhere, but I'm about exactly here in an Oathbringer reread and Evi and Dalinar just got done talking about how Dalinar is changing (getting older). We know already Evi's religion has been described as kinda pagan, kinda vorin. Dalinar is talking about getting older and she says he's changing from one aspect to another. He asks her to clarify and she talks about how they worship"the One", all power is his power, the old magic is "an aspect of the One" (Cultivation/Nightwatcher) who grants some of his power, the Almighty is another aspect, there are many aspects to the One, and people can change between aspects at different times in their lives. Sounds like she (her culture) worships Adonalsium and/or the Shards and could even be the closest thing to a "one true religion" of the Cosmere. I've searched Arcanum, the Coppermind, and good ole Google but haven't found anything about this. Any info would be great Edit: I relistened cause it was 45 min in between hearing and being able to post. I definitely paraphrased and used a wrong word (aspect instead of Avatar), but the overall point is the same.
  2. thanks for the clarification and the WoBs! Been wondering about how Dalinar stacks up against the "Cosmere powerhouses" (as i call the highly invested non shard individuals) for a couple weeks now
  3. I know I'm reviving a dead post, but I've put a lot of thought into F - Zinc (it'd be my F Twinborn metal if I could choose) There'd be a bit of a bullet time thing going on, but more then mental side of it. Brandon has said that F - Zinc increases the processing power of your mind, as well as inable intuitive leaps. So they should be able to process fast moving things, even if not able to physically react. I think their sense of sight would keep up, because the external stimuli for that is light; for taste, smell, hearing and touch the external stimuli has a limiting factor on how fast they physical particles move/interact with receptors. Smell would increase for a F - Steel user because they are interacting the particles in the air with their nose faster (assuming they were moving of course). The F - Zinc user would probably be able to decipher sounds more quickly now that i think about that though. In a fight though, it would be extremely beneficial for a leader to have F - Zinc. They'd be able to analyze the enemy instantly and decide the best form of attack. The same on a smaller scale on a one on one attack (like how the RDJ Sherlock Holmes character would analyze his opponent and know exactly where/how to strike; not physical speed, but mental speed in that fight). As an engineer IRL, I wish I had F - Zinc just about every day when presented with some new challenge that is going to take hours to solve. A Twinborn with A - Brass and F - Zinc would be able to determine a subjects emotional state (as much as possible) and determine the best combo of emotions to soothe to achieve their desired goal (this is preferable than a double Zinc compounder because of a WoB out there stating that a zinc compounder runs the risk of being lost in an "eternal single thought" In short, not the most flashy but super useful in the real world and with some decent combat utility. edit: corrected spelling, and added Twinborn thoughts
  4. Think a 5th Ideal Bondsmith would be up there in the "raw power" level like an Elantrian, Marsh, Suseberon? (leaving out TLR since he is dead) based off what we saw Dalinar do in Oathbringer, a full Radiant Bondsmith seems like they'd be "up there"
  5. I kinda took it as an end positive manifestation of sand Mastery. Similar to compounding, a way to "get more" from the system. And like Robardin mentioned, it still requires the use (or "burn") of invested sand, like compounding still burns the metal. It is definitely an odd power though!
  6. An interesting WoB I found while looking up something else. Theoretically possible to store and draw AonDor investiture in a Nicrosilmind for an Elantrian to use elsewhere. So even though it's connection and something else, this WoB makes it seem it's more about connection. So a Duralumin Compounder with several unkeyed Nicrosilminds could theoretically hijack AonDor and become an Elantrian.
  7. It's hard not to pick dayside for the Sand Mastery alone.. but if I wasn't a sand Master, don't know if I'd like the constant sun and struggle. Plus, Baon is super slick in those clothes and pistol. Nightside for me (assuming not a sand Master)
  8. I bolded the relevant part, but Brandon says to never trust anything a Herald says. I think the mad man known as Talk ultimately will be Taln the Herald. But never trusting anything they say, ever, is pretty interesting to them and what we "know"
  9. Fun theory. It'd be neat if, while collecting shards, Nightblood learned what evil is!
  10. Yeah, that's where my thought process was for the overall question. Good point about them being potentially even more region locked than regular Elantrians. It might be a Compounder could do pretty well on Sel. Be super region locked sure, but go to any region and potentially get access to their power! (Sure, not the same as knowing how to use it, but if you become an Elantrian, you have time to figure it out haha) The idea of hijacking investitures has been intriguing me lately haha using one power to hack into another (for the theoretical aspect, not planning to see it in story).
  11. Oh, I guess Duralumin Compounder potential too haha
  12. Hypothetically let's say a Duralumin Ferring from Scardrial stored connection for years and had a lot of metal minds. If he became a world hopper and ended up on Sel, could he potentially tap all that connection and "attract" the Sheod becoming an Elantrian? Side question: assuming there just happened to be an Elantrian who could store connection, if they traveled to Roshar, could they tap the connection and potentially figure out how to alter the Aons to work with that geography? (For the sake of theoretical argument, let's assume that either distance from the shards Devotion and Dominion doesn't matter or the potential of tapping connection also maybe figuring out how to hack the local investiture or shard energy)
  13. I'd enjoy a little membership card, but it can be something from the store with your name/picture on it or something. I don't know, near idea
  14. I agree. I think Brandon has peppered his Cosmere works with LDS theology in much the same way that Tolkien did with Catholic theology. Not a one to one in either case, but definitely something there and a lot of fun to open a greater discussion about themes and all sorts
  15. Pretty sure there's a WoB saying the Seventeenth Shard brought the common cold to Roshar. And Mraize had some sand from Taldain with him on Roshar. Apparently the Worldhoppoers aren't super aware of microbes. There's also WoBs mentioning that sand from Taldain could be used as investiture detector (turning from white to black to white again when charged with kinetic investiture). Potentially the lichen could breed and spread when a worldhopper takes it to a new shardworld as an investiture detector?
  16. I do know/remember that not all Taldain sand can be invested. And now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure the reason the lichen on Taldain can hold investiture is because one of the creatures on that planet digested and passed the sand whipe eating stuff living in that sand. And after it passes the same, it is then coated in the special lichen film
  17. Ah well that makes sense. Swallowing Iron on Roshar will just make a Rosharan sick. Thanks!
  18. I've been relistening to Warbreaker and at 8 hours and 16 minute it mentions that if Vasher had more breaths he could have seen the "lichen" on the grass. I can't find if it has been discussed, any idea if it's the same lichen as mentioned in White Sands that fuels their sand Mastery?
  19. I noticed yall are talking about the lichens mentioned in White Sands. I'm relistening to Warbreaker and noticed a part where Vasher is walking and it mentions that "he could have seen the lichens on the grass if he had more breath" Any theories on if these are related?
  20. I like the thought of the Radiant team vs Team Kelsier. As long as the Radiants had access to stormlight, I think they'll come out on top. I think even if they have a limited amount, they'd still be able to take out them with a shardblade slice. Marsh would pose a potential challenge. (I'm assuming Sazed is pre Catacendre). Got any ideas on what objective Shallan v Wayne have to compete in? i feel it'd be pretty situational to the challenge. I'd personally like to see a cage match between (in no particular order) Vasher, Kelsier, Marsh, Raoden, Dalinar, and Suseberon. EDIT: I haven't read Steelheart or any other non Cosmere work so can't comment on that. I did just recently start the first Wheel of Time book though
  21. Generic Willshaper for transportation Sixth of the Dusk for infiltration/wilderness survival Spook savant for sentry. A-Brass/F-Zinc Twinborn for quick thinking tactician and faceman Stick for cosmere domination/leader
  22. That's actually exactly why I mentioned Syl in my initial comment. I read that WoB and had already been thinking about Mistborn space travel duriny reread. I understand a lot of it would be possible yet difficult, so I guess I kinda had an underlying assumption that the KR in question had it figured out, not JUST a passenger. And the omnipresent WoB got me thinking about Dalinar space traveling so I started wondering about all of it and the Nahel Bond through Space and all. I also have been assuming that Willshapers would have the ability to, theoretically, travel the Cosmere and their spren would need to be there and all. I appreciate the thoughts and feed back! Fun stuff! I also found it odd that whenever Brandon is asked about using KR surges in space, the only limitation he mentions (that I've noticed) is the running out of Stormlight. Which had me think maybe the spren wouldn't be as weakened as we'd think
  23. How do you think the Nahel Bond would be effected by a Knight Radiant traveling through space? I assume a spren like Syl would be more okay with traveling, and I feel it is implied that Willshapers and Lightspren potentially travel all over, but what if Dalinar had to board a spaceship and leave, would he still be connected enough to the Stormfather to benefit from the bond? Could the Stormfather travel? Does anyone have any thoughts on this? If the Stormfather were on a space station large enough to contain him, could they power it with stormlight and all Radiants always have plenty of power (while on the ship or whatever)? Any other thoughts about the Knight Radiant Orders in space??
  24. Same!! First forums I've ever signed up for. I love the Cosmere
  25. Wax and Wayne series for sure!! Then White Sands comics, I loved them.
