Zalhoid looked down at the smouldering wreckage of his handmade starship. It hadn't, apparently, fared well in Alleyplanet's(?) atmosphere: he had had to heroically leave his craft halfway down and had Pushed himself down to sane speeds. Thankfully, his umbrella had functioned surprisingly well as a makeshift heat shield. Zalhoid looked at the charred remains of his rain-shielding device. He protec, he thought and tossed it away. Through an uncalculated coincidence, it hit an unnamed Dark Alleyist hiding in a bush, presumably to offer him cookies, in the face, knocking him down the cliff. He attac, Zalhoid reflected as he watched the man hurtle down the sheer rocky side and frowned to himself. An alarming amount of people had wanted to give him cookies on the planet he had stranded himself on, through a freak accident while experimenting with cytonics. But that did not matter anymore. Zalhoid was standing on the very cliff supervising Alleycity. He grinned madly. But most importantly, HE'S BACC! It was at this moment that the poor spacecraft behind him decided it had had enough with life and exploded, throwing him tumbling down the cliff.

So I've been thinking for a while about this and I came up with this theory: After Gavilar got killed, Jasnah goes away and does her heretic stuff blah blah. Then, at some point, she gets raped. Her Soulcasting powers would show up at that moment and she'd kill the guy somehow. This would explain why Jasnah is so cold to people in general, and also why she didn't hesitate to kill the street thugs in Kharbranth. Also, I remember seeing a quote somewhere where Shallan wonders what was done to her but I can't find it right now. Thoughts?

Are metalminds or Invested objects harder to destroy physically than unInvested ones?

@Ookla the Meme-Thief Zaphoid cleared his throat and called out to the person wearing a suit of glowing armor. "Hey, what're you doing there just standing? Get out!" Zaphoid realized that his manners were a bit brutish, but did not rectify himself. "Okay everyone, testing is over! I'll send a message to you tomorrow and you'll see if you're taken. See you guys later!" And with that, Zaphoid pushed himself away from the crowd, directly on top of his shack. He wanted to draw more plans. -

Huh, Zaphoid thought as the unconscious man jumped up andcleared the obstacle course in a matter of seconds by using a clever combination of Feruchemy and harmonium cubes. I'll have to reconsider. @Ookla the Guacless Zaphoid called up the last aspirant, Shifting Shadows. "I believe you're the last person, right?" @Kidpen -

As the unconscious man failed to rise, Zaphoid sighed and asked if someone was willing to drag him somewhere else. It looked as if he wasn't suited for the job. @Ookla the Guacless He overheard Mace's and Tena's conversation and said, "Don't worry. The power of your abilities will not be significant". He smiled inwards. How mysterious I'm acting... -

Zaphoid was about to carry the woman to the nearest hospital with a nicrosil-enhanced Steelpush, when he saw the others rush toward her and start healing her through Investiture. I'll wait to see how well they get her, and if it gets dangerous, I'll take in. Surprisingly, the woman sat up after a few seconds and Zaphoid let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding. "All right. You three, you're in on the team. Next please!" @Ookla the Guacless -

"Congratulations!" Zaphoid told the unconscious person on the floor. "You did very well on your run!" Turning back toward the assembled people, he declared, "And that is how you do not do it." "You there! Your turn!" @Ookla the Ring -

Zaphoid facepalmed as Shifting Shadows Soulcasted a huge bridge. "Can't you wait? I called someone else up. That is a very nice bridge, but please make it disappear. I'll call you up later." @Ookla the Ookla Zaphoid cleared his throat as everyone started clapping. "That was a very nice performance. Let's see who's next! Hmmm... You!" @Ookla the Paragon -

Zaphoid, having decided not to use any Investiture to get there, arrived of course last. "Line up," he said to the half-dozen of the people there. "To show me your ability, you will have to go through this obstacle course, which was designed to let anyone with Investiture and a small amount of brains through. It is harder than it looks, though, but if you pass you are guaranteed a job, but even if you fall or don't get all the way to the end, you'll still have a chance. Remember, this is just to test your abilities. You there, you're first, " he said pointing to the young woman the decidely old-looking person. The obstacle course was a jumble of platforms and moving parts. There was a net on top to prevent Windrunners and Skybreakers to fly above it. There were a few sections that looked as if they were rigged to drop down. She stepped forward and climbed on the platform. -

Zaphoid, feeling well refreshed by his long walk, walked back the The Cave, where he saw some of his possible employees fighting again. He was about to interfere when another young woman showed up and broke up the fight. "You there, the Fullborn," he said, "follow me, as well as any who want to show off a bit." Zaphoid proceeded to walk toward Devaan's training ground, which was where the testing would happen. -

"If you can really change Investiture almost anytime you want, don't worry about the test. Honestly, you may be the most important one on the team. I'm suspicious about that Fullborn, he doesn't seem like one", Zaphoid told the anxious woman with the carapace. He turned around and Steelpushed up the ladder to get some fresh air, and saw some of his would-be employees fighting. One of them was apparently using a baby as a weapon to block her opponent's attacks. Zaphoid sighed and kept walking.Things like this are normal in Alleycity, Zaphoid thought to himself. I wonder how things are going to turn out... -

Zaphoid cleared his throat as the participants started bickering. "Your attention, please. ", he said while counting the people who hadn't handed in their form yet. "I see one or two of you who haven't given me your form. You can decide later if you want to, but gve it back before 3 days from now. After that, you will have missed your chance to work with me." As he waited for the people in the room to fill out their forms, he started looking through a few of them. Something in one of them caught his attention."Are you really a Fullborn? I'd like to see proof of that. Come see me tomorrow at noon and I will assess your powers. This is valid for any of you if you want to convince me of your ability. Tomorrow, noon here. This is not the test I've been speaking of, for those of you who are wondering. " -

Zaphoid cleared his throat and started talking. "As I said before, I wasn't expecting this many people to come. You can imagine that I wouldn't have enough money to pay all of you, so I'll have to whittle your numbers down. You'll either write all your Investiture forms, all of them, on these pieces of paper, or you can work for me, but I will have to pay you less. Those who will accept to announce their powers to me will be paid the full 5 crysts meintioned. If there's still to many of you for me to pay, you will have to take part in a... test. Or you could just work for me for free. I'd appreciate that. ", he said pointing to a stack of papers. He was going to start handing them out when he remembered the last detail. "Oh, and you can also leave now if you want to. I won't hold you back." Zaphoid paused, and then annouced, "There you go! Those sheets are also contracts, so when you sign them, you will officially be working for me. Pens are in the little blue box behind me." Sheet contents : -

Zaphoid was sleeping in the Cva ewhen he heard a table crash to the floor. Startled, he listened for more noise. Crud, it sounds like a lot of people. A little preparation wouldn't hurt... Zaphoid slammed the trapdoor Allomantically, starting the wole room filled with people. "Who are you, and what the heck are you doing in my house?", inquired Zaphoid as he drew a dagger out of his sleeve. A tall stranger stood up and said, "We here for job. You give job?" Zaphoid lowered his weapon, and a grin slowly spread accros his face. "Just wasn't expecting so many of you folks. Might as well come down for the job briefing", he said as he turned around and went down the ladder. -

Zaphoid came back to the Cave, as he liked to call it, the next day, arms loaded with drawing supplies, scientific papers and instruments. He sat at his worktable and started looking through the first paper for a tip on combustion reactions and Allomancy. One of my first observations was that the thrust produced by Allomancy was not nearly powerful enough to lift even a small baox of metal. It could be due to the total mass of the testing craft, or to the small replication of Allomancy of the primer cube used. Perhaps if we made the reactor bigger... A few hours later, Zaphoid had an idea forming up inside his brain, and he started sketching out his first Allomantic Engine Prototype. He would have to compensate the weight of the final craft while making the calculations for thrust capacity. He wouldn't want to have his revolutionnary craft hover only a few centimeters over the ground before crashing down before the eyes of a thousand onlookers. A week later, Zaphoid was fully satisfied with his plans for the first working Allomantic engine in the world. He would need to hire people to help him build the prototype, buy metals and generally, explosives. On the central marketplace of Alleycity, he put up a sign on which was inscribed: ZAPHOID BEEBLEROCK NEEDS WORKERS! Requirements: have at least one Allomantic or Feruchemical power. Payment: 5 crysts per working hour, but it will pay off when you will fly off in space with me. Address: 42 Vogon Street, Alleycity. Come plentiful!
