Have you noticed that there’s a lot less magic in era 4 ? and what magic there is seems to be mainly used to power machines rather than people. Do you think this is because Brandon is keeping the details of the magic system saves for future books or do you think they will just be less magic users in the future?

How long will it take for Shallan to get back?

Probably the end of book one or book 2 that’s where I would put it. -
How can you recreate the energy guns from the Maelwish?
bmcclure7 replied to Sythrin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That not what we see the southerns use all kinds of magic systems that they could have only gotten off world and even in the current time line they use dor so it seem fine with being dependent on other planets -
Dusk's new outlook and it's relationship to Autonomy's intent

Good point I was thinking of modern sand masters I forget that sand master has been around for a long time and probably changed a lot. Makes you wonder what was the point of the Sandlords setting up these two groups to fight to each other. -

Are a lot of the Fused dead in the future?
bmcclure7 replied to Sythrin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I see two possibilities 1. Harmony has either split or been replaced by discord. 2. Harmony has become utterly inactive because of his contrary intents Given what we hear about him, I am guessing a combination of one and two. Either way it is clear given the actions of the Southerners that his intent has become more darker or he has become inactive. I suspect that the condition on Scadrial will mirror the condition of Roshar just with the Southerners in place for the singers by the end of the ghost blood era -

Yes, I would agree. That is exactly the same logic I come to concerning Scadrial -
Are a lot of the Fused dead in the future?
bmcclure7 replied to Sythrin's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I wouldn’t say we know nothing we know that 1. Roshar is in conflict with other powers and appears to be trying to conquer other planets 2. The knight’s radiant are still around in some way. 3. The sky breakers are part of the military forced used to conquer other planets. If you think about the implications of these facts, you realize that we know far more about the state of Roshar then you think -

Strongly disagree based on everything we have seen so far I don’t think the situation has changed dramatically at the very least retribution, is still in control of most of those Roshar -

Order of rustbringers. surges: division and transformation High spren: serenity spren Plate spren: decay spren Ideals 2. I accept pain 3. I accept suffering. 4. I accept loss. 5. I accept death. Rustbringers are some of the most stoic of the orders. Win not in the very worst of places they seem to spend their time contemplating the darker sides of life and learning to accept it and teach others how to do so on the battlefield they’re usually sent to the worst most hopeless places. During times of peace they spend their time teaching others on how they can learn to accept suffering in various forms So once you homebrew this into the new game.

“So are all lit gemstones now funneled through the singer nation at Narak? Or has Roshar regained "normal" highstorms again (which had been created before the Shattering!)” we can assume that all of Roshar can pray and get war light so long as the are not enemies of Retribution. “so are Radiants now working with Retribution” yes as of Rythm of War at least two orders work Him “The fact that the "Battle of Aheleha" (a very Alethi sounding name“ Alethi is under control of Retribution Retribution is the one who what’s to conquer the cosmere the the Radiance has no reason to be conquering the Cosmere If Roshar is conquering the cosmere then Retribution is in charge of Roshar -

I feel like it was not so much about the series as it was introducing people reading the series to the wider cosmere. Away for Mistborn only readers to find out what this cosmere is all about -

It had his moments it was good and bad. The end of the confrontation I think was amazing. However, before there was at least one twist I felt needed more not set up exactly but detail. Additionally, there was everything with Kal regardless of my own thoughts about the reliability of therapy in the real world I don’t think it fits in the fantasy world it just breaks immersion. Therapy is a modern concept built for modern world it doesn’t make sense in a world that’s not modern. Additionally, for the shin storyline, Sanderson really went hard on the value relativism that he sometimes sneaks in as a theme in his stories. Personally, I really dislike this since I find value relativism self-contradictory and inconsistent. The fight scenes were good though a lot of action this book. And we finally got some answers for the origin of the desolation. It’s always nice when we have questions answered. Retribution is fantastic villain one of my favorite Sanderson has made. -
I suspect it was the plan before oath bringer. We know originally you were not supposed to get any POV from him or so I’ve been told.

No, I think Sanderson is way too close to Jasnah as a character to allow anything to happen to her. My guess is that this crisis of identity will be long forgotten by the next book I have my own complaints about the series though I do think I enjoyed it overall more than you did I’m curious whether or not the part we found frustrating our similar

Funny, I thought the fused were the best part of the book that and what happened to odium. But seriously the fuse were great as someone who has always been curious about their background and powers. It was good to see more of them. I do admit that I can see why the part about the lights was a little boring. I didn’t mind it personally, but was far from my most favorite. I did skim some of it. Kal inventing therapy felt a little bit out of place and corny however, after seeing how on the nose it was in future book I can appreciate it being better than that
