  1. "I was born in the Tahanadal Princedom." Temeria answered, wanted to add something, anything. But the only thing that came to her mind, was her mother, her father. Her siblings that had left her alone. "It was beautiful there, but I don't plan to return there, if I'm honest with myself." She said finally, to cover her dark thoughts, although her eyes probably betrayed her. The blood on her hands, the fear. It was good that she was gone, that she had left all of that behind. Looking down at her hands she took a deep breath, tried to stay in control. In a way Hallandran had saved her, had forced her to change to become someone else. She had needed that change, that distance. "And yes, broken." She smiled to banish her thoughts although it felt strained and added in a forced lighter tone, "You were there longer than I was. If you substract the years I can't remember, it's even more." She smiled apologetically at him and then changed the topic. "I can't imagine to live that long. To find things to do, or places to visit. It seems lonely." @MacThorstenson
  2. Sagitta closed her eyes and then looked down. "Why should the gods care about us? I doubt any of us is as important as Ta'e'ilo and that was ages ago. Today... there are so many people, they can't listen to all of us." She sighed, tooked some dry earth in her hand. "The wars have been going on for so long, if they wanted to stop it, they would have. I think they leave it to us to sort it out. We started the war, we have to bear the consequences." Slowly she opened her hand, let the earth fall to the ground. "And then, I'm not sure, if it would work if they acted directly. They are so diffierent, just like humanity is different." With a short smile at Price she added. "Entropy's powers are incredibly useful in battle, but I'm not sure if I want to meet the god Entropy. Somewhere after my second or third battle, I kind of lost this believe that one day, the gods will come for us, will help us out of our mess. They offer us our powers and the rest is up to us." @I think I am here. @Lunamor
  3. Laughing she shook her head. "No, I don't. This world will take some time to get used to." His grin was a nice change, suit him better than the heavy mood he was in before. She watched him pack away the contract and realized, that she had missed to check how much she had to pay for the room. Same as anything else. "When I arrived in Hallandren, it was different. Especially their lifeless scared me to death when I first saw one of them, but all in all, I could pretend, that it was nothing but a different country." She shuddered slightly when she thought back at the first days there. At her desperation, at the fear, the dry blood on her hands. "At first I wanted to do nothing but go home, I looked for ships, asked about my own country, but they never heard of it. It took me a while to figure out what had happened." A wry smile on her lips she looked outside. "This time, I knew what happened, but realized that even crossing a street is awful dangerous here. I feel like a child opening her eyes for the first time and understanding nothing. In a few days it will be different, but for now..." Standing up she walked to the window, looked at the street, at the strange carriages, and the people looking into small items, or talking into nothing with their hand close to their ear. She was silent for a while, did nothing but look, tried to see a pattern in their behaviour, when they walked, when they stopped. When they crossed the street. "Have you been to Alethkar?" She asked and turned around, sat down in front of his table again. @MacThorstenson
  4. "Nothing. Leona will do the cake I think. We should talk to her as well, Jason asked her as well." Shana sighed again. "We need a band, a location, flowers, decorations, rings, food, plates, tables, stools, candles -" She stopped when she realized her voice had risen, then continued more quietly. "We have a few hours, until the afternoon. I have no idea how to do that. I want to offer them the best day of their lifes, but it's just so much to organize."
  5. "They didn't attack me." Tiredly Shana closed her eyes, rested her head against Cassie's. "You asked for the powers to protect to fight, there is no difference here." She continued to hold on to James, wished suddenly that he would hug the two of them. That Ben was here. But as tired as he had been, Ben was most likely asleep again. "I don't want to discuss who is the worst person, to be honest. I want to help you." She paused, then added slightly stressed. "I need to organize a freaking weeking. And I don't even know what you need when you get married. Everything else, will have to wait." If she messed that up, no it wasn't an option. She had to get that one right, had to offer her friends a day they would never forgot. But still there was this quiet voice in her head, that wished that they had chosen another day. A day, when she hadn't killed not even twenty-four-hours earlier, a day without Cassie on the verge of breakdown. A day when she wouldn't have to appear wearing jeans, because she had nothing else.
  6. Shana nodded wordlessly and resumed hugging her. "You aren't the only murderer here." She whispered quietly, held on to her friend.
  7. Shana smiled at them, finally slowly stepped back from Cassie. "Are you a bit better now, a little bit at least?" She asked her, her fingers fightening around James, glad that he was here.
  8. Lena smiled when Lita leaned over and mirrored her movement, brought her face close to Lita's. Lita's perfume filled her nose and reminded her of past nights and those that were to come, but for now she did nothing but bring her lips close to Lita's ear. She was close enough that she could hear Lita breathing, smell the port on her breath. "That is a secret." She whispered, so quietly she barely heard her own voice. Alask's story, she knew it, was one of the few that knew. Now and then she went with him when he headed out for the night, when Shez took over. She liked Shez. He killed without a bloodbath, quick and clean. And he didn't mind her poisoning people. She didn't doubt that Lita would pay her well for that information, but it wasn't only about Alask, it was also about Mart. It was only half a year, but the boy strived, living together with Alask had helped him, had banished some of his demons. Her body adored Alask, sucked up ever word of his, tried to make him proud. It was good for Mart to have a man around while growing up and she wouldn't risk it. He was the one person in her life she really cared about - apart from her poisons. Lena moved away from Lita, brushed her lips over the woman's cheek in a wordless promise of what was to come. A wicked grin lit up her face when she leaned back again, finished her wine. Denying Lita something she wanted to have usally lead to interesting results. @ZincAboutIt
  9. Shana nodded and reached out for James with one hand, not letting go of Cassie. "He's right." She whispered, because James had voiced what she had felt. "We are a family. And we will stand together."
  10. Sagitta was silent for a moment, looked at the stars as well. "I believe that they listen when I speak of my sorrows, that they watch when I wash the blood of my hands and that they carry the tales of the dead to the gods." She lifted a hand, as if to touch a star. "Maybe I only imagine that, but what else should they be? And even if they don't, I find solace when I look at them and they offer me peace. In the end, I suppose it has to be enough." Looking down she gazed at Zura. "What do you believe?" She asked, half expecting to be shut down. It was a very personal question, but somehow here at night, things had changed. She doubted that it would remain like this, but for now she felt like asking the question was alright. The night was the place for dreams, for sorrows and for honest talk. During the day, they had to return to their places, to their problems, but for now they could talk as equals.
  11. Althea slightly inclined her head at the explanations of the woman. It was the the reply she had expected. If they had any idea why the team had died, they would keep silent about it. She doubted that they would open up all records to those they recuited, but that was fine as well. To use the families as an excuse, smart. She could respect that. The question of the young woman had been unneccessary - the director had already told them, that she wouldn't hand out any additional information about the reason why the team had died at the moment. Still the description of the tunnels were interesting and she made sure to remember them - you never knew. Leaning back she looked around to see if someone else decided to speak up, wanted to see if someone else had formed an opinion about their situation. It would give her some additional clues about the others around here. As would be the decision if ACE accepted her as an official member of the expedition team. Or Wes, or Karin. They had to know that the guilds would act, how they handeled those that were here would be another clue regarding their motives and their morals. Her face carefully shaped in her usual cool and neutral mask she spoke again, made sure her tone was the same tone as before. "How do you finance these expeditions and the whole project in general?" The question was a trap, a test as had been her earlier one, and she looked forward to the reply, somehow hoped, the director didn't disappoint now. @ZincAboutIt
  12. Wita nodded happily. "Aletheians sounds good." She stepped next to her friends and lifted the wallet. "Here's the adress. His passport." Slowly she looked through the wallet until she found the card and then held it up. Looking around she tried to figure out where they were.
  13. I can switch to a Scadrian if it's neccessary.
  14. Shana nodded. "Me too. And if I have to set the world aflame to do that." She said fiercely, hugged Cassie closer.
  15. Hmm... well I'll give them a try I think. But I'm not sure if that suits me. It depends. At the moment it's Good place to start, sometimes Crushed or Observation of Thoughts. But it changes from time to time.
  16. Temeria slowly took the contract from him, but didn't read it yet. Instead she looked at him, considered his words. Killed others to steal their age and if she remembered his previous offer about power, most likely other things as well. Damaged the souls of his victims. With a sigh she realized, that she had no real idea what he meant. She'd seen men broken by war, turned insane, maybe something like that. "At least you kill them yourself and don't pay others to do it for you." She answered after a while, heard the way her voice changed when she remembered the bored, stupid nobels that gave orders and never considered twice how many lives it might cost. She looked down at the contract, read the first part, then stopped reading when she realized that her thoughts were still occupied with his words. An insane god filled to the brim with regret. Help the city. It fit, somehow it fit together. When she looked back, she remembered the fear, the pain, the blood. But she didn't regret it. She had needed to kill to survive and that was it. And she'd done it for someone else, the only thing she'd gained was some money for bread. "I am probably not the best person to talk to about this." She started slowly, wondered how he had to see her. She wasn't good enough, never good enough. Always too weak. A god. He was a god. Tilting her head to the side she looked at him. The Returned had seemed differently, powerful, but this man reminded her of some of those she had served with. "I have to seem like a fly or maybe a worm, or some short living thing. But in my experience the worst ones are those that never reflect what they do." Without reading the contract she signed it with her name and then realized that she hadn't introduced herself. Her mother would be devastated by her lack of manners. Her mother. If things went well, she'd never see her again. Still, it was impolite, and she disliped being impolite. Especially towards the one person that had just offered her a bed and a place to work. She extended a hand towards him, smiled. "Temeria Shenet. I never introduced myself."
