Ax sighed and rested his head on Jason’s shoulder.

Ax rolled his eyes and let Jason carry him, though it would probably hurt him.

“You are not more muscular than me,” Ax said. “Well, at least, your arms and shoulders aren’t. Though I’m pretty muscled all around.”

“Dude,” Ax said, blushing. “I weigh twenty pounds more than you, and I’m four inches taller. What’s the deal?”

Ax rolled his eyes and sat down on the kitchen counter.

“Yes, I do kind of want you to stay,” Ax admitted with a blush. “You’re warm.”

Ax finished studying early. He clomped down the stairs and walked over to Jason, then said, “You staying here tonight?”

Ax kept studying. He would do so until nine o’clock, when he’d put the books away and draw for a while.

Ax got back to studying.

Ax blushed and rolled his eyes. He’s awesome, Shamrock said. Can concur.

“Okay,” Ax said, relieved. “There’s pizza downstairs, if you’re hungry.”

“You know that I love it when you mess with people,” Ax said seriously, “but for the love of all that is good in this world, don’t get caught. Okay?”

“I know you can, but there’d be six huge testosterone-fueled teenagers, and one you, which means bad things for you regardless of combative talents, because there’s so many of them. Look me in the eyes.”

“I’ve wanted to kill you more times than you can count,” Ax said, trying to keep his voice stern and serious. “Also, I’m one thing, but football players are another, so seriously just don’t get caught by them.”

Ax contained his rage at them for trying to get at Jason. He’d get one of them in a tumble at the park later, and see how they liked being beat up. “Okay,” he said, perfectly calm-sounding, “first order of business.” He gave Jason a kiss for a half-second. “Second order of business.” He whacked Jason upside the head with his forearm. “Don’t get caught, genius.”
