Individuals have experienced failure, even groups, but never really the Alleyverse as a whole. At first, the only one who'd be winning would be the Stranger. Until it did. Cassie's mouth opened slightly in shock and fear. Captured by Voidbringers? That hasn't happened in all my memory. How did I fail? I had one job - keep the kids from getting hurt! What will Doc say? What's going to happen to them? Is everyone else all right? That last thought snapped her out of her blankness, and she straightened, waving her hands in the Lightweaving of Ben in the hopes that it would dissipate.
