File gave him a smile of thanks and settled into the car, not noticing Doll-Man. As the door shut, she hoped that her smile had been suave enough. Edit: no wait I’m retconning her name to be Flit, I like that better. Pretend it was that all along

“Oh, I’m not arguing,” Kios said lightly. “Though the definition of winner is a little loose.” He began flipping the icicle again, this time randomly, not saying anything; Adhesion kept it from falling out of his hand, slick though it was.

Yay.

Kios smirked. “If you define economy as give and take, then yes, there’s a lot of that.” He flipped the icicle over, tossed it from hand to hand, then - knowing Corenar would probably interpret it as idle movement - did a couple quick spins in Alleycant. Very brave of you to come in here, not being one of us. Even braver to admit it...though perhaps smarter than trying to pretend you belong. He gazed at the icicle as he stilled it, testing its tip with the pad of a finger. “More taking, though.” Though made of frozen water and not metal, it was a very good size, and if you ignored the inverse temperature, the feel of water dripping off the tip was almost right...

Ene took a slow sip of her malt. “Fine with me. By the way, you should get used to calling me File. I like the sound of it more than I like hearing ‘Ene’, if you know what I mean.” She stood and started walking out, not looking back.

“I meant walk into the Alleys,” Kios clarified. He studied the pointed icicle in his hand. “Since you’re not a Denizen, and all.”

Kios snorted. “Well then, why not.” He broke off the end of a thinner one, hefting it in his hand. “You do this often?”

Ene raised an eyebrow. Someone else might’ve answered with Yeah, why do you think I got a nice cold malt, but instead... “And they don’t seem to have a fan,” she said softly. “Do you want to talk outside instead?”

“Eh, just the usual,” said Ene with a wave, then winked at him and leaned in. “But I’ve had some dealings with them.”

Kios glanced back and winced. “Careful there, you don’t know where that’s been.” Though maybe the other man intended to just heal from any potential poison.

Guys, it’s been like an hour since I clarified, these are not crazy-long times to wait Here’s a second clue: it is widely assumed that this character died.

“Good for you,” Ene said cheerfully, ordering a chocolate malt. “I’ve had some interesting things happen lately. It’s a lot of waiting, a lot of hoping.”

I don’t think anyone here has meant to offend anyone else; it is true that some people are trying very hard with their grammar, and that English is not a first language for them. It is also true that it’s a rule to try to use good grammar - which is something many people who can don’t bother to do, and it can get very tiring after a while. I’m sure @Handerfle was attempting to help and didn’t mean anything rude by it. It’s hard to tell sometimes if someone is actually trying and English is just more of a struggle, or if they’re someone who speaks it fluently and is just not caring. Tl;dr: No offense is meant on either side, everyone makes mistakes. By the way, Honorless, you can call me Ene - you don’t have to tag me every time.

Kios nodded wordlessly. That was a sentiment a lot of Denizens believed in. He noted icicles beginning to stretch down from a ceiling that had faded into existence a few minutes ago and stepped around one that hung particularly low. “Unless you don’t have the ability to act on that knowledge, which is why Hemalurgy exists.”

Deteca ran forward and tried to slice at his shoulder.
