  1. If your head had exploded, how would you be confused? Wouldn’t you be dead? SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS NEW PARADOX
  2. Okay. I thought you were mad that I'd done the , which I didn't understand.
  3. *quickly dissolves the paradox before it can eat the universe* Okay but what if there was a magic system where people had to dissolve paradoxes before they corrupted the world? That sounds really fun to me
  4. Okay great, we've established that you think it's obvious...now why in the world did you growl in that instance? I seriously don't get it.
  5. No it's not, the mods made a subforum. (In some cases I agree with this choice, and in others I sincerely don't, but it unfortunately is what it is.)
  6. Ah, like *growls*. Gotcha, I’ve never seen anyone do it by just saying it before that I can remember, so I was really confused. Now the question is why are you growling?
  7. I don’t understand how self-expression relates to you saying that...? Can you maybe elaborate?
  8. Wait, why are you saying the word growls?
  9. Me: *leaves RPs because I don’t have the time*

Also me: But WHAT IF we had a Candy Shop War RP and invented new magic candies

Brandon Mull was my author before Sanderson!! I’ve almost a of his works, except for the newest Dragonwatch, but he’s definitely one of my favorites. Looking back, I don’t enjoy his books quite as much as I used to (like, they’re still great and awesome, just not as magical as they were when I read them back in elementary and middle school), though I’d have to say that my favorite series is for sure Fablehaven, with Beyonders as a close second.

I love Mull’s books, but reading Dragonwatch I feel like I’ve kind of aged out of his writing style. The story is fine, but the writing in the last Dragonwatch book really started to grate on me.

As for Candy Shop War, I love it. And we are getting a third book, which I eagerly anticipate.

Wait, we ARE getting a third? AHHHH

I gotta agree, the writing is grating on me too. It’s started to feel, idk, like choppy/disjointed if that makes sense? The prose doesn’t flow well.

And l definitely agree that Dragonwatch wasn’t needed. I’ll still read and enjoy it, but it’s not hitting the Fablehaven spot imo. (Also agree that Five Kingdoms isn’t as good - still decent though)

  10. None of them speak with the same sounds beginning each word?! Why, what wicked witches with wintry wherewithal! Even enemies endorse excellent entertainment! These thickheaded theatrics throw them through the thrasher.
  11. Massive salt warning and a few allusions to spoilers near the end

Okay so you guys know how I’ve recommended RWBY in the past? No. Don’t. Just don’t. The first three volumes were okay and then V4 and V5 I enjoyed more. One of those “it’s good enough that I can ignore the flaws (and there are a lot of flaws) (but again, good enough for me to still love)” deals.

V6...happened, and I had this uneasy “I don’t have a good feeling about this” throughout but it was still pretty minor. There were a few Very Big Things which I did not like, but overall I thought it was still worth it.

V7 hits and I was honestly feeling meh from the get-go. Just not as hyped as last time. I watched it and I knew there were issues but had a hard time vocalizing them to myself.

I looked around the internet and found a teeny tiny corner of the RWBY FNDM that somehow said everything and said it perfectly. They analyzed and did character studies and looked at what was shown on screen; these few, few people were smart and I genuinely felt like my eyes were being opened. Wow, that sounds stupid lol, I’m talking about a show. But the issues are really big writing issues, some of which have permeated society and some of which are newer/more specific to this.

I ended up watching the rest of the volume through a new light and looking for the problems myself, and oh dear. O h. D e a r.

Well anyway I’ll still be watching but it’s sure not for the writing quality! *halfhearted yaaaaays*

So I can’t in good conscience recommend this to anyone. It promotes unhealthy behavior and straight-up lawbreaking, as well as the notions that adults are utterly unnecessary (let’s ignore the fact that everyone but two people in the main group are adults because who needs logic), lying and secret-keeping is pure evil when *anyone* other than the core cast does it (though they’re lying and keeping secrets about the exact same stuff...plus even more...plus with much bigger stakes...plus the person who did it to them had very little reason to trust them whereas they have every reason to trust the person they decide not to tell...) in which instance they’re perfectly correct and also wAy dIfFeReNt from the first person (no, no they’re not lol), alcoholism, trauma from murdering your years-long abuser/around-a-year-long abuser, PTSD from literally being ripped into pieces and then coming back to life, a bunch of other PTSD, whatever else I’m forgetting - oh that stuff is literally just dropped, never touched on, pffft who needs realism with mental health when we can toss it out the window for a fight? It’ll be well-animated, so no one will care that logically no one should be fighting it, for various reasons depending on the fight!

In every case possible it feels like reason and logic and past characterization is just thrown out the window??? Oh and let’s not forget the sexual assault, and the emotional assault, and the physical assault, and the many cases of neglect, and the abuse, and how male abuse victims aren’t given an inch while female abuse victims can use it as an excuse for everything, the romances are objectively unhealthy hidden behind a veneer (sometimes very thin) of cuteness, everyone who has been been enjoyable is thrown on their heads by the writers to make no sense, the good guys literally fight other good guys of their own volition and team up with their enemies and also what happened to the humor in this because I could rant about that alone for an hour. It’s either funny but woefully misplaced, or just not funny.

I just can’t. Can’t ship the characters I used to love because now I’m screaming at them. Can’t trust the writers to write anyone correctly. Can’t stop writing this impromptu rant PSA status update, apparently.

I’m happy to go into detail about anything. At this point you could mention just about any moment or theme or character and I’d be able to go off. There’s so much it’s overwhelming.

Sorry about this. No, it’s not out of my system. It probably won’t be until the series is done. Idk how they can even do five more volumes of this.

Give me V1 RP where I can pretend all is well. (Of course I still need to write a ton for that. Gah. So much to write and here I sit ranting instead.)

Apparently I need to get caught up on this show... and apparently I also have a much lower bar set for it.

I used to have a lower bar but then *shrugs* Idk

  12. Well, I’m pretty sure mine noticed me, and I don’t know if anyone else ever used it. But earlier this year they unblocked it, which was a surprise that I was happy to have.

  15. When you have a minor crisis trying to remember if he/him is capitalized for the Vorin Almighty or not.
  16. Granted, but now all the Sharders who can are hunting you down for killing their families and friends. I wish for a giant ball of fluff.
  17. “Yes, I meant what time are you. I apologize for being unclear,” the figure said, placing its hands on its legs and watching him, eyes still open. “And you may call me First, if you would prefer a name for me.”
  18. “If you would like a name for me, you could call me Last.” The figure dipped its head fluidly. “And your father is not here, as far as my awareness stretches. Of course, it does not stretch to the future, so he may yet show up if you will it.” The smile returned to its face in the same manner it had left it. “Even if you were only a merchant’s daughter, I would still envy you that. As a human, you have always been something. From conception, you have been something. Never have you existed and been nothing at the same time.” It placed the slightest of emphasis on the word you. “Before I was me, I was nothing. Then I went from being nothing to being Something, and to describe it in your terms...it was disconcerting.” Its smile grew wider. “But regardless of that, you are not merely a merchant’s daughter, Sagitta T’Sora. Nor are you merely a soldier. You are many things; that is a human quality, to be many things, whether the human in question is mortal or immortal. It is not a quality I myself have.”
