  10. I suspect theres a 'recalculate' button somewhere in the admincp, twould make sense. The postbit displays a cached value, where the profile calculates it raw from the db? Joe

I bet if you added a paid subscription thing (with perks of some sort?) that'd easy cover costs. Until the site gets super popular, and you need superawesome servers at least. I'd certainly have a yearly subscription of upto $20 I guess, and I'm sure there's others that would. Joe

I can shell out $150, if you're serious. Joe
  15. Also, I think we should keep with the [tt][[book Title (book)]][/tt] linking schema for books, but scrap it for in universe places/concepts/etc, unless there's multiple things that can go under that title (not including the book). For example: Elantris_(book) is fine. but Elantris→Elantris_(book) is ewwie, and so is `Elantris` being a disambig. I'd rather Elantris be about the city and add an `are you sure you didnt mean the book` to the top of the page. And another thing, we should plan how we want to organise categories, its pretty willy-nilly atm >.> A third, catkeys (the category sort key), I've been using ` ` for pages that define the category, (like `Shardholder` for `Cat:Shardholder`) and `*` for any non-universe things (like chapter summaries, epigraphs, templates?). and then the natural sort order for any in-universe thing that goes in the category. Is that good enough? Joe
  16. EDIT: I've decided to move all the categories to plurals. I've also decided to remove some pages from categories so that the page only appears in the deepest category of any single category tree. For example, the Shardholders are currently in both Cat:Cosmere and Cat:Shardholder (which is in Cat:Cosmere), I'm gonna move them to just Cat:Shardholder. Same with the Planet pages, which are currently in Cat:Cosmere, Cat:Places, Cat:{planet-name} AND Cat:{book-name} lol. Like I say, we need to discus the category structure. Joe ---- So yes, which is it to be? For articles I've been going singular, it makes the most sense, and is probably the way Wikipedia does it. But for categories? I've tended towards 'this page is a <singular>' but from the category point they are 'this category contains <plural>s'. it also seems mediawiki has a problem with [tt]Category:Something_template[/tt] (see the other thread) so yeah, what should we do? Joe
  17. Well I kinda am one of the maintainers so yeah Indeed, I really need to read the annotations. I just thought I might be able to glean some distilled information from this thread, laziness and all XD Joe
  18. Which would mean that holding the shards 'poisons' the holder until they lose what individuality they possessed. This thread is really interesting, though some of the things should probably be put on the wiki. Are you all ok with me copying your theories/ideas? Joe

I wasnt suggesting you change, just dont expect SMF2 to come out any time soon. I always was an SMF fanboy really, but there are definitely newer/better ones out there these days.
  20. At least there's no politics between the places, that always screws things up... its a good thing to do this early too, rather than years after startup.Joe

    Tab Ring

Yeah, the tab-ring isnt anything that SMF does, apart from it maybe being in the js/css. I used to use SMF quite a lot, made some plugins for it and stuff. SMF2 is never gonna come out, its been 'nearly there' for about 7 years. and there are other, more modern (securer/safer/etc.) bb's nowadays. But yeah, it should only be javascript/css Thanks Joe
  22. yeah content sharing would be nice to set up, and it might be possible to set up direct-interwiki linking? rather than just references. and its quite a big deal from a technical standpoint, even with auto-equalizing bots it'd probably be quite difficult.

    Tab Ring

Hey, the forum's tab-ring is foobar'd. It would be nice if I could tab from the 'insert post here' box to something below that which would allow me to submit it, in one tabstroke. rather than being taken upto the logo/home-button. Thankyou Joe
  24. So, I know we cant simply copy info from other sources, but are we allowed to link to pages over at places like stormlightarchive.wikia etc? Thanks Joe
  25. spam for as far as the eye can see....
