I actually imagined it in different ears at different points in the books, but the first time I imagined it was in the left.

For one thing, a wound isn't really an object, but the state of a body being broken. And a cut-off arm I think would act as a class 3 awakened object, but might be sort of a combination of class 2 and 3, since it's very much in human form and the breath might stick to it, but it wouldn't be quite like a lifeless, because it wouldn't have a brain. That brings up another question: What about an awakened severed head? That I think would qualify as a lifeless, but it wouldn't be useful at all.

Michael Kramer version of Warbreaker
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to Runyan Firetree's topic in Warbreaker
Michael Kramer reads Hoid's voice different in Final Empire, but I think that's because he's acting as an informant, deliberately changing his voice and appearance. While I have no first-hand experience with this, one of my friends is deaf and I think his circumstances are close enough to make a compatible comparison. He has a hearing aid, so he can hear some things, but he won't be able to distinguish words. That's mostly because he hasn't had a hearing aid for the first ten years of his life, which is when hearing children learn such skills. So I believe a blind person might have an idea in their head of what's going on, but I don't imagine it would be particularly accurate. -
Michael Kramer version of Warbreaker
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to Runyan Firetree's topic in Warbreaker
I'm actually listening to it right now. It's obviously nice to have him as a narrator, but I disagree with the way he pronounces Vivenna, Susebron, T'Telir and a few other words. -
Typos thread [Hero of Ages spoilers]
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to PeterAhlstrom's topic in Mistborn
Once when Spook is talking to Breeze, it says "Spook raised his eyebrows." when it's clear that Breeze was the one to raise his eyebrows. I noticed more, but I forgot them all. -

From the album: Drawings by Narcoleptic Axolotl
I know the midnight essence was supposed to be a more crustacean-like creature, at least in this instance, and I don't think Dalinar had a beard. Maybe Heb did. That's not the point. This is how I imagined the scene when I read it.-

[OB] Poll - Opinion on Adolin
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to Dreamstorm's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm just glad Brandon didn't go ahead and make ALL the Kholins into radiants. -
Well I can tell this forum has been abandoned, but since nobody's said it yet, in Oathbringer

(OB) The Complete Stormlight Archive Cover Art
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to Ammanas's topic in Stormlight Archive
You have a point. (no pun intended ) Maybe have an empty slot where Taln's blade would have been? But that wouldn't make sense, because his blade was never there in the first place. I'm thinking make them angled in as if to be a ten-point star, but with only nine blades. -
(OB) The Complete Stormlight Archive Cover Art
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to Ammanas's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think it should be the ten Honorblades, all sitting in a ring on the day of Aharietiam, maybe a dead thunderclast in the background. It's how the Stormlight Archive starts, and it's looking like the whole series will be about desolations and the oathpact. I think it certainly sets the mood for the series. -
[OB spoilers] Is Maya alive?
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to The Night Watcher's topic in Stormlight Archive
Okay. It makes sense, but we just don't have enough information on deadeyes to know how likely that is, if it's even possible.- 292 replies

I wasn't saying the Nightwatcher was created by Odium. Much on the contrary, I said that she was a splinter of Cultivation. I don't have a reference to back this up, but I believe we are told sometime that the Nightwatcher was created by Cultivation. I must say, I'm surprised at how many of my theories have already been proposed. That is likely. But I think it's more like in Well of Ascension when <spoilers> Straff and Cett are both going to attack Luthadel, but don't for fear of exposing themselves to the other. </spoilers> Also, I don't think Cultivation is capable of being anything other than good. Just as a gardener clips certain branches for the plant's own good, Cultivation should be able to do things (such as take away Dalinar's memories) seen as negative at first, but the outcome is positive overall. Just highlight the spoilers to see what they say.

[OB spoilers] Is Maya alive?
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to The Night Watcher's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think all there is to this is that she's beginning to see Adolin's good, as opposed to the prejudice against all humans that spren have. Had Dalinar not been a radiant himself, I suspect a similar thing would be happening between him and Oathbringer.- 292 replies

I was just reading about the Unmade and it occurred to me that the Nightwatcher is a very odd spren. Not unlike the Unmade. Then I remembered a quote from Hessi's Mythica, which says that there were rumored to be ten unmade. But maybe there were ten made, but only nine of them were unmade. Now obviously there are some holes, but give me a chance to give the evidence supporting this theory. Obviously, watch out for spoilers. For one thing, Sja-anat says to Shallan in the oathgate room at Kholinar that the Unmade were "made, then we were unmade." It is implied that Odium made and unmade them. But wouldn't it make more sense that they were first made to combat Odium, then Odium 'unmade' them and used them for his own purposes? What if Honor made five of these spren, and Cultivation made the other five, including the Nightwatcher. It makes some sense; everything in these books seems to come in tens. Ten Heralds, ten orders, ten Silver Kingdoms, ten surges, even ten fools! Maybe ten unmade? But Odium couldn't catch the Nightwatcher. Cultivation is protecting her on that little island, perhaps she used her skill in future sight to make sure Odium didn't get ten unmade. Maybe ten is the 'most magically powerful number,' like seven is in Harry Potter. Now let's talk about the holes. Really there isn't enough information on the Unmade available to prove or disprove this yet, but there are problems. First of all, it's unlikely that Odium doesn't have access to the Nightwatcher. Everyone knows about her, and most know how to get there. If Odium thought she would be at all useful to him, the he would've gone after her. There, he would've discovered Cultivation just waiting to be splintered. Secondly, it's very probable that the Nightwatcher is a sort of 'heir' to Cultivation, much as the Stormfather is to Honor. The Stormfather says that he existed before Honor was defeated, so Cultivation doesn't have to be splintered to make such an intelligent and powerful spren. Indeed, when Dalinar visits the Nightwatcher, Cultivation makes it clear that she created her. (I listen to the audiobooks so I can't give references. sorry.) Maybe the author of Hessi's Mythica was wrong and there really are only nine, or more likely, the tenth unmade is a currently unknown spren. Tell me what you think. Point out holes I didn't notice, provide evidence I didn't think of. As much as I'd like to be, I'm not the most well-versed in the cosmere books or popular theories.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Sure. Just now you have a lisp so bad that no one can understand you. For my boon, I ask to be turned into a Mistborn. (I'd ask to be a radiant, but none of those powers seem like they'd be useful in my everyday life. Also I don't have a way of getting stormlight.) -
That's funny and all, but we know that (spoiler alert) Dalinar didn't get anything from the Nightwatcher. Everything he assumed was from the Nightwatcher was given to (or taken from) him by Cultivation herself.

[OB]Cosmere Coincidences
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to Narcoleptic Axolotl's topic in Stormlight Archive
Who, me? Okay. I've read all the Stormlight Archive stuff, including Edgedancer, I read Warbreaker and Mistborn 1. Right now I'm working on Mistborn 2 and next in line is Elantris. I still haven't read any White Sand books or Nightblood. Anything I didn't name here, assume I haven't read. btw Thanks for answering that question. I wasn't the first to spot that, but Brandon himself said it's a good question, so that's a victory. -
I was just listening to Well of Ascension, and I noticed this little problem: (spoiler alert) As I said, I'm listening to it, so I can't give a page number, but it's a bit more than half way through.

[OB]Cosmere Coincidences
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to Narcoleptic Axolotl's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well I'd love to do that, but as I'm sure you can tell, I'm very new to this and haven't figured out quite how to navigate the forum, much less move around content between subsections. -
Mine said I was a Willshaper, but only with a 56% match. 53% was Dustbringer, and Skybreaker was third with 31%. I'm a little disappointed, to be honest. I expected to be a Stoneward more than 22%. Everything it says about Stonewards are things I associate with myself. People can incorrectly judge themselves, I guess, but I stand by my Stonewardfulness.

I love Stormlight! The Way of Kings was the first Sanderson book I read, and it's still my favorite series in the cosmere. Mistborn is a close second place though. Who's your favorite character? Mine was Jasnah until I read Oathbringer. Now it's Szeth.

[OB]Cosmere Coincidences
Narcoleptic Axolotl replied to Narcoleptic Axolotl's topic in Stormlight Archive
Also, while I was looking at the ten essences, I remembered that Hoid was once "named for a rock." Specifically, a topaz. The divine attributes of topaz are dependability and resourcefulness. While I can't speak for Hoid's dependability, he is certainly resourceful. The herald associated with topaz is Talenel, and if you recall, Hoid was present when Taln returned from Braize. How much of this is relevant? Please tell me what you think, and point out any other things you think are interesting. -
Here I want to discuss coincidences (that meaning potential connections) you notice about the cosmere. For example, could "Kelek's breath" have anything to do with awakening? Please post anything you notice that you think deserves some looking into. I'll start off with the question I already gave: Why is "Kelek's breath" a saying? Is it because he came to Roshar from Nalthis, like Vasher did, or could it be something else, or is it just a saying? "Ash's eyes" means very little, as far as I can tell. Oh, and please warn of any spoilers, because I still haven't finished Well of Ascension and I'm one of those people who doesn't want anything spoiled. PS. Just to save you a bit of research (or a lot of looking like an idiot), it doesn't have anything to do with the ten essences. (https://coppermind.net/wiki/Ten_Essences) You'll see that Shalash is associated with garnet, whose body focus is blood, not eyes. Kalak is associated with Amethyst, the nails.
