LOL, I am a total newbie, just began reading this January ... what a lovely new year's gift to receive by some kindly happenstance of serendipity! I was amazed by The Stormlight Trilogy! Investiture is given to those accepted to power, though . . so even Kaladin's Squires "became invested"? Interesting concept. Of course only the Priest class in Egypt built Temples. They and the Pharoahs . . They also used the visual method. Thank you, and I am now reading Elantris, ... which offering should I read for February? (read Arcanum Unbounded) . . . One that will fill in some more of the basic conceptual framework of the Cosmere.

Thank you. I missed that, will have to be more attentive. Still the descriptions of the Elantrians and the Shard bearers are very, very similar. Thus I drew the conclusion. Could it be possible that Aons are the Elantrian access point to the power of Stormlight (by that or any other name? I am thinking Chi, here.) . . . Elantris is the second choice of a name for this planet (story), too. °•° ___ Is this a subtle request not to tangle Brandon's creative Universe with the common understandings of the mundane mortal realm? If so, please reply and I will alter my "on board" approach to his material. Mr. Sanderson is an amazing author, and surely a mind and soul to match and his creation is to be honored. But Jasneth is an Elsecaller .. I don't know her surges, but she also soulcasts and does not suffer the effects of those who soulcast regularly. With Navani & Jasneth you are dealing with the women of the current ruling house as well, so not on the average level of living. I see Navani as the consumate Stateswoman, and Jasnath as her well groomed and carefully prepared replacement. The most telling thing to me was Navani's reaction to Shallan's revelation of the attack on the ship, and the passing of Jasneth .... and I will stop there, because this might be spoiler territory .... but the reaction was "very telling"!! IMVHO. Shallan at this point is stumbling through the beginnings of her abilities, but still cannot see much of the whole picture. Navani however has been immersed in the culture of Roshar and the Alethi her entire, long, life . . . and therein, I suspect, is what has confused Matt O. Her projected personality cannot help but convey her understanding, thoug it is veiled to the best of her ability. Dalinar handles this a bit better. Is there a list of the surges & correlated aspects on the copperwiki? ... I'll go check. {February, the short month to Spring! Whew!}

Just some musings to see if there is anyone of like mind about. Always interested in theories. The Shardes were created to fight monsters of stone, correct? But then the enterprising humans create Fabrials and Shardplate and make new monsters of stone to prosecute their own ends within their realm. By again imprisoning Spren. In Elantris, once a showplace of power, then a showplace of power overthrown, there are hints of the Gifting of Power from "higher" sources by use of the Aon, drawn with light, which might signify a sacrifice of Stormlight in drawing the Aon, and thereby satisfying some pre-existing agreement? Yet in fallen Elantris, the Seon suffers a massive loss of it's dedication, or of it's purpose . . wandering aimlessly, without direction. Perhaps inhibited? Prohibited? The Aon were carved into the walls of the city -- visual communication with The One Beyond? . . Was Elantris a concatenated navel of power? Its requests to The One Beyond carved into the walls -- honored!!? When time(?) or loss of virtue (?) -- "took the city" --- away from the power to connect to The One Beyond, did that cause it's fall? This would be in the structure of the Cosmere itself, or in a change in the nature of humanit? And asside, the parshmen took dull form fo escape their gods (truth or sweeping lie?) Parshmen perhaps used as souls to grant boons, until the wheel had turned, a new lord or order arrived on scene? I have to finish Elantris, so maybe I am creating my own spoiler, but maybe I won't visit again until I have finished! This is close to the magic powers of the Egyptians, the very Early Celts, and likely others. And the worldwide language of the Old World was broken by the flood, no walls of letters left hanging around today. Book = Snowcrash Visual contact, loss of virtue (?), and then the spoken word, spoken aloud in the form of Oaths .. to allow a continuation of the blessings of The One Beyond? I see I will have to read the expensive book! There is a Mayan codex on the arrival of these folk as well, they walked the land and renamed many locations! Off Worlders? Were I a highbound teacher of those who might influence humanity, covilization, the evolution of the human race upon Earth and in the common Universe, I would request that you attend a one on one discussion of some primciples I felt might benefit your perspective. Having a well fleshed out perspective is essential, especially if you are an aspiring writer. I obtained this "notion" after reading your wishbourn post. . . . Brandon's work does have appeal!! . . . Unlike so much media which is only a visceral excitement play. Have read The Stormlught Archive, Arcanum Unbound and working through Elantrus. Speaking of theories (I love theories, I'm basically a mental affectionado!) . . . Have you read Patrick Rothfuss' book The Name of the Wind? He speaks about the dangers of the FAYEN realm, Fairy, or the Sidhe if you are of the Isles. He speaks of its creation: " And the greatest among them wove it from whole cloth." ( might be slightly miss quoted). I was very taken with this book, but the conceptual Universe of Brandon's work is why I am here, and I can't help but wonder if the two realms are related ... that this space of consciousness called the Dreaming, sometimes, is that Fayen Realm. that its creation was the time when the Sky Gods walked the Earth, both in Mayan codicies and in the book YORRO YORRO about the coming of the Dreamtime in the Australian Kimberlues ... awesome read, also tells how a Shaman xan visit death, but insure his return to the living, if you are a shaman, or Banman, as they call them. Our home grown dimension hoppers! Wheel of Time ... a Sanderson Save? CREATION CORNER .. will look fot that. Thanks for the welcome. I found my settings, but did not discover a way to apply an image, ot tag lines . . Are these things possible for a shard level poster? I guess my next read is Elantris. Very interesting Universe! (.. so jonesing for Photoshop). Seriously, I am so sphere-less I wish Brandon would engage in the Kindle Count Down Deal on Amazon !... Maybe a book each month? . . Thank you, but I must decline the cookie, being on the Paleo Dier (87.6% of the time): I must defer foods with sugars, flours, deep fat cooking and a host of other items which are making a mockery of good and healthy eating! Really, one can become adapted to eggs, beans, nut butters, seed butters and honey, with copious additions of coffee!! I allow the infrequent bran muffin, wine and various members of the edible produce sector, while circling the antipatso bar, olives, pickled onions, marinated mushrooms, and occassional slices of protein from the deli . . . . I fail terribly at self (negating) moderation, that discipline which would enforce emotional angst and cognitive hardship . . . I simply drop the required foods and upgrade my options! We live in such luxurious times!! No breath stealing, good, I can relax the ward on Siamese hunting partners. As for spreading items .... I'll defer that to a later time as well. Considering the repercussions of bread and jam in the Cosmere!! No soulcasting power here, nor surgebinding, nor any other ability. I do crave Photoshop, having been without since June of 2015. Art and Wordsmithing have powers of their own, of this I have little (actually not any) doubt. Culture protects and rewards those who serve the common Universe through their connection with the Cognitive Realm, but it might be thought magicl or some kind of Luck. Favorite book .... I think the middle one, Storming Bridgeman Kaladin and the issues of the Shattered Plains. The first book kind of brought me out of a winter stupor . . living in the car is not fun, and winter bit early and hard this year. I am thinking 5.7 weeks of winter remaining, you can get through this, spring bulbs are not so far away. Winter in a vehicle is a bit daunting, unless you have spheres like the royal vault ... a cold night can cost $17.50 in gasoline, but foods, stuff and person do not freeze! Why? Ah, because I am one very stubborn Irish Lass who will not take up residence nor find work (it seems), on the front range ... to my view a huge spider nest of un-named forces of destructive power degrading people for profit. And the Iron House of Sirius (woof, woof), has an incredible vested self interest here, which I have tried twice to run from, but found mind control dragging me back, after I've gone! ,... "huh"? ... true story. . . . you may now think nut case, but I will offer that am of the Cognitive Realm, have always been . . The Irish call them the girls on the Black Stairs .... I refer you to YouTube. To the Russians we are the dolls in the center of the nest . . Swift, silent, fragile, but in corruption's house, victims. So, when I read in this Universe ... I imagine other, currently nameless things .... but I know, I spent many years as a Spren! It is my point of honor, my reason for rebellion, that that much of my life was stolen from me. Could you run a Kindle Countdown Deal every now and again for those of us who are not flush with spheres? Please? I am reading Arcanum Unbound, and will try on the Mistborn Trilogy after.
