  1. It's mostly the easy slip into "I can't allow anything to influence me at all, so I killed everyone and now there's no other influences left to bother me!" as a mindset.
  2. Yeah, they're definitely able to be shaped during creation, but after that seem to be free to go their own way and become their own Autonomous being. But that could easily have been born from primary Autonomy learning to realize when a new splinter is beginning to emerge and twisting it slightly (more towards what they want it to be) but not being able to interfere come full sapience.
  3. Those two might be connected. Maybe the splinters aren't completely voluntary. For all we know, the primary Vessel has conflicting views in and of themself, so the splinters just kind of happen as their own viewpoint shifts.
  4. "Autonomy wants to remain Autonomy" That doesn't sound good. That sounds genocidal in an "I can only be me if everyone else is dead, or everything will be affecting me making me not me anymore" kind of way. Bad vibes off that. From the way they appear to be interfering on Scadrial, it seems like they only care about the various portions of themself being completely Autonomous. Yeah, that's exactly the issue. And Harmony doesn't exactly appear to be stable, if you take my meaning, so Brandon only knows what's going on in Autonomy's head.
  5. The thing about Autonomy being a potential end-of-the-cosmere villain is it's betting on an unknown: the interpretation of Autonomy by the Vessel. For all we know, the person who became Autonomy has taken their Autonomy as "colonizing the whole cosmere to make it me, willing or not" a la GOTG2. Or maybe they think of being Autonomous as being the sole controlling being of the cosmere (which is almost the same thing, except less absorption, more genocide). We can't know until we know the prime Autonomy if they're actually the villain. (But they do have a bad habit of sticking their nose in everywhere)
  6. Centering around a number on a universal scale for your books is too general to really be copyright, so it should be fine.
  7. Easier than it seems, given how large the supercontinent is, and the extreme frequency of storms. Most people launching for Aimia would go from the nearest coast, so they'd just have to concentrate on the few ports that are sheltered enough to survive highstorms. Not a hard task, given that Sleepless seem to have some way of knowing what and who are important to get near them. I don't think Aimia is as scoured as people think it is.
  8. Yeah, that's pretty much what happened there.
  9. There've been theories the Ones Above are Era 4 Scadrians (thought I think that got disproven because of some WoBs), late-cosmere Rosharans, or some mix of the two. We don't know for sure, though. Sapient beings from off-world. Human...is arguable, since it would seem odd for there to be no Sleepless and/or kandra on there. They're primitive. The Ones Above are not, considering they're spacefaring. They could probably glass the planet if they wanted.
  10. A single Sleepless doesn't need to guard a ton of the cost when they can work their way onto the boat and poison everyone. Seems to be a solid method of doing things for the few ships that can actually make it past the storms to get there. I'm not convinced that the Sleepless would be doing that. Can they even Soulcast, since they're made of cremlings?
  11. The Sleepless that killed all the people left immediately. She poisoned the stew for everyone to eat and then got into one of the boats, hit the mainland as everyone died, had one last conversation with Kaza then stole her Soulcaster and dissolved into her composite cremlings that may have been (partially or wholly) sent out to sea after Kaza's final Casting. There may not have been time for her to get back to the ship and do anything with it, nor may she have wanted to, since it floating around would have added to the rumors of Aimia being life-ending.
  12. To be fair, Stormlight (and the rest of Sanderson's stuff) is chock-full of information. It's understandable to forget some of it.
  13. At the end of Oathbringer, it was also mentioned that Adolin treated Viel like a drinking buddy.
  14. My money is on it being because he was manifesting Radiant powers from an already apparent bond (he said something about having heard another voice in his head when he was young and that he hoped this one went better when talking to Nightblood, plus him having killed his highspren once before would explain why it's so shy even on top of the threat of Nightblood). They couldn't just cut that off, they had to have some explanation, and so they trained him on the Honorblades.
  15. Stole the words right out of my mouth. FATE is a lot looser, a lot better for those kinds of things. Plus I love the plus/minus dice.
  16. "We had a deal. I will stay and uphold my end as long as you do the same." She could not abide the fact that someone considered her potentially an oathbreaker. These people didn't know her, so it could be excused. They would not have to be...corrected. @Rushu42
  17. "Once, yes. But now I am only Deadspot," she sighed, still regretting the loss of her family name. @Gears
  18. I'm fairly sure Shallan already has it, if she would only let herself remember it. I think Kaladin likely will get it sometime this book (but I don't think it'll save his life, because I'm pretty sure he's doomed either in this book or the fifth).
  19. The rock coating her skin began to crack as she moved her elbow. It had been so long, even with the...gap...in her memories. Another crack sounded and air flooded in, blessedly cold. Another feeling she'd been missing out on in her stiflingly stagnant stone shell. It felt like one more good push would do it. One. More. Push. She lurched against the inside of the now slightly-loose encasement, and, to her great relief, the other half gave with another crack. She stepped out, taking a deep breath. Her first true breath since before that...incident...with the claim-jumper. Unfortunate that it had to end the way it had, but she had another chance now. But that second chance could not be started by being rude to her hosts. She was in...a library? Not somewhere she normally would have been, but so be it. She also had to stop herself from reflexively draining vitality from everything around her. Even at a low drain, who knew the effects it could have? It couldn't be risked without knowing how badly it might reflect on her. Oh yes. She needed to say something. Mustn't be impolite. One more breath first. "Thank you for freeing me." @Rushu42 @Gears
  20. Because to him, he is. This is part of his culture, this is part of what he does. To be named Truthless is a punishment, so you are left to do whatever the person holding the stone says. He was just...really dedicated.
  21. Life. Glorious life. Where was it coming from? She didn't know. How long had it been? She didn't know. Was she still under attack? She didn't know. But there was someone asking her questions... And she could respond. * Life. Glorious, unrestrained, rushing life. It was a river - an ocean - of pure life rushing into her. The same kind as before, unfamiliar to her, but just as effective. And for the first time since she regained consciousness, she twitched her fingers. Once. Twice. Three times. It became easier every time. @Rushu42 @Gears
  22. One word, very simple: -.. --- -. . .-.-.- Done. @Gears
  23. And here the conversation takes an odd dip. It's not the same language as before, Latin, this time: --.- ..- .. -.. / .--. .-. --- / --.- ..- --- ..--.. Quid pro quo? @Gears
  24. Again with the threes came the message: ... -- .- .-.. .-.. .-.-.- / --.- ..- .. . - .-.-.- / .. -- -- --- .-. - .- .-.. .. - -.-- .-.-.- Small. Quiet. Immortality. @Gears
  25. Very simple this time: --. . - / -- --- .-. . / .-.. .. ..-. . Get more life. @Gears
