    Oathbringer Jasnah

From the album: Oathbringer Jasnah Kholin

My interpretation of Jasnah Kholin! Had a lot of fun making this one. Admittedly, I made the costume before reading the book, so I guessed the fabric colors to be white and yellow (not yellow and orange as is written in the book--oh well). If my photoshop skills were better, I would have photoshopped a shardblade in here...
  2. From the album: Oathbringer Jasnah Kholin

Proof of Oathbringer Jasnah's inaugural convention!
  3. From the album: Oathbringer Jasnah Kholin

I took some liberties with the details...
  4. Such epicness of epic proportions!
  5. I bought Ready Player One before I figured out that a movie came out for it too recently I like it when that happens. Will read it before watching the movie!
  6. Good guess! But not quite what I referred to. Keep a close eye on the Letters--those little blurbs from the beginning of each chapter in SA? I believe they mention it explicitly at least once. Once you finish a SA book (and it seems you have read all 3?), you can read the compilation of the blurbs on the Coppermind because it is easier to see the bigger picture that way. Have you read Mistborn: Secret History? (goes after the first Mistborn trilogy) That could be very interesting to you in terms of cosmere knowledge. In one word, mindblowing. Because remember, there is always another secret.
  7. Welcome @Wishell! Have an upvote. And also welcome to cosmere-awareness! Did you figure out why we are called the 17th Shard yet? In any case, there are more of those connections between books to be found, if you look for them. Try not to spoil it for yourself in the coppermind ahead of time though Speaking of spoilers, if you talk about anything sensitive from Oathbringer, make sure to do it in the spoiler thread marked with OB. What other books have you read?
  8. My good programming comrades, I bring you this That sweet sweet hallelujah moment...
  9. @JemmaMYoung That's brilliant! Almost as if our mutual friend Brandon Sanderson was asking for fanart when he wrote this bit... But in all honesty, I read the description for sky Fused and thought "hey, this could be some epic fanart!"
  10. Welcome fellow lurker! You will not have to wait for long Only 10 min? I advise you to not accept cookies or give away your breath if asked. The cookies might be spiked...
  11. Please excuse me for bluntness. @Zellyia Are you Odium in disguise? Was this your purpose all along? But in essence your questions are interesting ones. I would like to know more of the backstory of the Cosmere/Yolen/Silverlight but I suppose that information is a bit of a way off for us. That's okay. I am patient.
  12. Ah, okay. Thanks! In my defense, I only read OB once and on ebook. I am going from memory :/ Don't know why I would ever assume otherwise!
  13. Very interesting theory. In fact, I recall thinking along similar lines when Adolin tells Kaladin to leave him in Shadesmar. Adolin was urging Kaladin to give it his all and fight his way through to the oathgate and perhaps escape. Yet doing so with a man with a messy gut wound is practically impossible. Kaladin's own nature as a surgeon and mentality as a Windrunner is completely against this. I also recall Kaladin's father (blanking on name, I know, unacceptable) telling young Kal that he must learn to let go. As far as I recall, Kaladin never quite got over that one. So I am uncertain where the word "abandonment" is proper here. A wordier way to say it is just to learning to let go of your ideals so long as it is right. To know the struggle of living by them. So, yes @MountainKing I agree with you. I had an impression that 5th ideal gives shardplate. If Jasnah is indeed 4th (when did this happen??) and if 4th gives shardplate, she would be mad not to use during OB battle at Thaylen city. I doubt it uses as much Stormlight as the dead spren plate anyway. But this is just a hunch. So I vote 5th ideal for plate.
  14. Welcome @I think I am here.! Good call to read warbreaker before oathbringer. I see you've perhaps been paying attention. Also check edgedancer before oathbringer!
  15. As OB finally sinks in, I keep remembered choice passages. I am sorry if someone already meme'd these! Oh Jasnah... I really do like your character. It's rather entertaining with you around. And come on Mr. T... Did you have to? I mean that Diagram has been off enough times that in research, this is normally when you scrap everything and do a literature search again. Too bad Google Scholar doesn't have Cosmere. I checked.
  16. Greetings! Glad you came. *sigh* I suppose it is too late to warn you about the cookie. Those have a tendency to be "spiked" on this thread. In addition to Edgedancer (or Stormlight #2.5 as it is sometimes known), I also recommend Warbreaker. This is available for free on Brandon's website and will make Stormlight 2 and especially 3 sooo much more interesting. I quite literally jumped out of my seat at the end of WoR because of certain knowledge gained from Warbreaker... Again, welcome to cosmere-awareness!
  17. I am proud to finally join the OB discussion board! This one was just too adorable to ignore... Come on, it was such a beautiful set up Even my roommate, who knows nothing about the cosmere (yet) laughed at these two. At the end of the book, we all see:

    Sarene

Love the expressions! Really capture how I visualized Sarene
  19. Greetings friend but for Honor's sake avoid the cookies until you know what you are getting into. Glad to hear you decided to give the Cosmere a chance! And who knows? Maybe you'll convert someone else one day too.
  20. @Herowriter Good luck with WoT series! I started in 2011 but finished only last year... I am sure you can beat that but it did get a bit tedious at times Have you read Warbreaker? (Brandon has it free on his website) That cosmere story might make Stormlight Archive a tad more interesting...
  21. Welcome friend @Herowriter! Have an upvote! Do listen to aforementioned advice and avoid the cookies. Although I tried them once and they don't taste half bad... barely escaped later though. What books have you read? Any favorites?
  22. I love cookies. So long as the cookie knows that its a cookies and won't decide to be something else as I am eating it.
  23. When your internet router name is "Knights of Stormlight." Let all who enter there know the truth: that you care so much about the feelings of sticks.
  24. +1 for Kingkiller Chronicles. So long as you can exhibit iron patience as we wait for the third book Have you tried reading the Broken Earth series by N. K. Jemisin? I picked it up while waiting for friends to finish OB so I can borrow it ('cause I need a break from buying books) and it's pleasantly well-written!
  25. How much shorter are we talking about? A few chapters shorter still leaves a rather pleasantly thick book And it's probably better for the overall series compared to splitting them. So I would bypass general greed and say shorter than WoR. Would you rather be stuck on Threnody alone for years without silver or fight a Shardbearer tomorrow morning?
