  1. Every faction or player voting on Chameleon, I presume, is currently relying on the idea that they will receive Odium, or other Shards, from Axolotl when today is over and he remains unlynched. But that still does not change the fact that Axolotl has 1) consistently lied that he didn’t steal Odium, didn’t have a Shard-stealing role, didn’t have a secret ability, and wasn’t Hoid. In various places he’s claimed all of these things, and all of them are lies. Why are these factions which are supposedly going to be granted great power trusting a repeated liar? And why isn’t anybody doing something to make them pay the price for lying? 2) stolen the most deadly Shard in the game, and is essentially making everyone dance to his tune for a chance at it. It’s true, as Heron mentioned, that he currently has little reason to use it, but that doesn’t change the fact that he stole an entire Shard from a foreign faction. Regardless of how you spin it, that indicates malicious intent, and Axolotl’s hatred for Hidden Garden seems entirely tied to that faction’s former possession of Odium. There are clearly multiple factions helping Axolotl out, but he can only give Odium to one of you, and he serves no other purpose; otherwise he’s essentially a neutral thief, and Hoid to boot, whose win conditions have never helped anybody else. Besides, I don’t want Odium safely tucked away for the rest of the game. Less kill Shards might make your faction breathe a little easier at night, but all it does is further empower foreign factions that already have one, delay the natural progress of the game, and take a fun variable out of play; at any rate, I wouldn’t trust Axolotl to simply keep the Shards locked away forever.
  2. I’ve been very conflicted on which way to decide here, but I believe that Axolotl is my choice. While I understand your frustration for being targeted for presumably stealing a Shard or having a secret role, I think it’s fairly clear you possess secrets, and as you’ve made several claims to the contrary before, that would indicate you lied to the thread or to our group in PM, and that tips the scales for me. I’d also just like to resolve the wild claims circulating about your potential role and abilities. I did say earlier I’d prefer not to kill you, but nobody wants a Beagle lynch, and the Chameleon lynch is a very thinly veiled attempt to protect Axolotl, which indicates that they have something they need to protect.
  3. Interesting. I’ve mentioned Hoid a total of once, I believe, and it was mostly a joke saying that Seonid would be Hoid based on the initial RP of Sheon Idris taking on Hoid’s mantle. Other than that, I haven’t mentioned him this cycle, nor Axolotl, so I really don’t get how you think I’m trying to passively-aggressively push a lynch on them. It’s true I’m uncertain on Axolotl, and am vaguely nervous because I don’t know their secrets, but unless there’s compelling evidence that they actually stole Odium and are pursuing other Shards, I see no reason to kill them yet. The Beagle lynch is simply a desire to have the game be more active, and as there’s a limited number of pinch-hitters, and also a limited number of justifiable lynches, I thought he might be a good choice to eliminate if we had no better options. The only other time I voted for Axolotl was yesterday, and if you look at that post you’ll see I did it just for information, and I retracted upon some being provided. And at that point Axolotl has just claimed and we knew a lot less about them. So yeah. I’m not entirely sure where you’re getting that impression.
  4. While Iguana still likely is in contact with Khriss, it appears that what I believed to be a lie was simply a miscommunication that caused Iguana to mix up two players. As such, with no remaining evidence of dishonesty, I see no reason to want him dead. My apologies, @Saffron Iguana, for our communication error and for falsely accusing you. If possible, and because the Kandra populations seem to be dying down, how’s Beagle faring? I haven’t seen his red face in-thread for quite a while, he’s not in my faction, and I don’t have a more compelling reason to vote on somebody anymore.
  5. Khriss is a presumably hostile unknown, so contact with them would convey apparently nefarious intent. I asked Iguana for information about Khriss’ faction, even giving some in return, and he supplied it and much more than asked for, for which I was initially grateful; however, as part of the information concerned somebody in my world doc, I asked them about it and they said the info was blatantly false, and one other player supported their statement. This calls the other information they supposedly had to share about Khriss’ faction into question, and sheds a generally poor light on their honesty regardless.
  6. Not only has Iguana been in contact with Khriss, he’s also shamelessly lied to my face in a PM, and is clearly planning something devious that relies on spreading misinformation. I’m a little more annoyed at the dishonesty, though, and believe he should be lynched for it.
  7. Hahaha, Joe, you’re such a troll with all the secret rules. It’s wonderful. Well done, whoever killed Khriss. That probably means Hoid is in the game too. Based on initial RP, maybe we should lynch Seonid and find out
  8. WHAT? That was really just...not who I thought Odium would be. So rather than being random, it seems that the lynch on Lion may have been engineered by faction(s) which knew Lion’s identity, though I don’t know how they would have figured that out with certainty. It also disproves that Odium and Ambition are in the same faction, and affirms that it was likely Ambition doing Shardworld stuff, as there are no new charges today, and the extra vote appeared instead. So, an essentially random lynch probably just gave us the most information from the lynch that we’ve received all game. We should do this more often.
  9. Sounds fine to me More seriously, any lynch in this kind of game is bound to be an elimination of a common threat at best, and a farce for protecting one’s own faction at worst. However, as I did promise Axolotl I’d retract if they elaborated, which they (kinda) did, I’ll add my vote to the Crocodile lynch, as I don’t have any better ideas (except perhaps Swan, who is stuck in my mind as an odd participant in last cycle’s lynch, and who I’d like to see the faction of to better understand the politicking occurring behind the scenes. But it’s a little late in the cycle for that).
  10. Is it possible that we’ve simply stumbled on an Investee of Cultivation that used Feruchemy and some other ability? The only possible answer if we ignore the possibility of a secret role (which I still don’t feel would be too prevalent in this game), is that Cultivation + Endowment is a faction which let Axolotl do a number of things last night. If either player from a faction that holds one or both Shards cares to counterclaim, they could (though they certainly don’t have to). The other possibility is that Axolotl is lying, and either way in light of these strange circumstances a vote for Swan is not as helpful as one for Axolotl. Normally, I’d call the scanner’s reliability into question, but Axolotl seems to both know that their results are true, and at the same time hide the causes. I’d rather understand the causes here. @Violet Axolotl, if you are both not lying and are willing to explain slightly further how you managed your actions last night, I’ll take my vote off you and add it to the next leading wagon. But until then, you seem to be a veritable unknown, and I don’t like that in a game when the rules are complex enough.
  11. If only because of the chance of a Weasel lynch failing (though I would like a resolution to his claims eventually), Swan to potentially see which groups were trying to save them last cycle, and for similar reasons to Crocodile. @Coral Swan why was there a sudden swing of votes away from you last cycle?
  12. Well, this discussion about colour has been fascinating, and probably the most productive we’ve had in quite some time. But unfortunately British spellings are the way to go here. As for why I’m advocating lynching Weasel? He’s made quite the set of claims, and we either threaten him with the lynch, forcing him to corroborate those claims, or we kill him and verify the truth of those claims. Either way, more information flows and benefits everybody (except those in Weasel’s faction, but hey, they’re presumably unscathed so far, so their life isn’t too terrible).
  13. Huh. That was an interesting choice of who to kill, as from my recollection Amethyst has said basically nothing (in-thread at least) all game. If I had to hazard a guess I’d say it’s Odium, but I could very well be wrong about that. Also, having four Shards total with kill capabilities, a grand total of three people have died in three nights. As I presume protection hasn’t been that accurate, that means some Shards are displaying restraint, which is curious. Hopefully, if more kills start popping up, we can begin to piece together more information regarding factions and Shards. Anyway, on to business. Weasel has narrowly escaped the noose twice, and we still have no resolution to any of his claims about his faction, role or alignment. I would still like those questions answered.
  14. My best guess remains bored!Ambition, as there’s little for them to do with their Day action if the lynch isn’t close, but any Shard that can’t Invest is probably a possibility. Might even be Ruin unwilling to use his planetary destruction, and therefore being nice and creating planets instead. (Presumably to blow up later. )
  15. Why Octopus though? After a brief perusal of the thread, neither Swan nor Octopus have created much of a stir. The swing to Octopus seems engineered by Swan’s and Weasel’s factions to save their teammates, which is fine, but Weasel (Zebra) is still the best candidate, if only to confirm what he’s told us, and because he’s the only candidate of the three that’s helpful in advancing anything beyond a “restoration of balance” (which, by the way, we don’t know if Octopus is in one of the “weakened” factions or not). He could always be Returned later if we feel too guilty. (Or rather, if Endowment does.) Also, Weasel, Autonomy can’t help you, as they’re very nicely Shattered right now. Guess you’ll have to appeal to Ambition, or use your own Forger role, if you bothered to make it.
  16. Why must every lynch wait until the last six hours of a 48-hour cycle to decide itself? Unless someone counterclaims Ruin (which I strongly advise, if it’s true), Indigo Weasel. As I don’t see a reason to join an Octopus lynch I don’t quite understand, I’ll park my vote on Quartz Zebra to give me incentive to move it while I look into the background of each of the current candidates. >>
  17. I would personally say no, as unless you’re intent on wasting another lynch and are double-bluffing (which is possible, though unlikely), I’d rather just kill you and get the information that way, knowing that it’s true, and casting a true light on all of your prior claims and statements.
  18. ...this is why I shouldn’t let my gaze in the thread slip for like, any amount of time at all. So essentially, for the crime of not being in the faction of Penguin or Vulture, either Weasel or Swan will be lynched. I honestly would be fine with either lynch, but I’ll confess I’m a little more curious about Weasel. There seems to be little reason for him to fear death, which he seems to, If Devotion had targeted him this cycle, so hopefully the lynch will go through, and honestly I’d just like a resolution to all the statements he’s been throwing around like candy. I doubt Devotion’s team would have a wincon that said simply “keep X players from being lynched,” as that seems too simple, and even if there was such a wincon it’d likely have to cross faction lines, or be done on every player in the faction, or something. And the information we’ll gain from Weasel’s death will be more than we gain from Swan’s, though if we want to kill Swan next cycle to (presumably) equalise things, I’d be down for that, unless something else urgent comes up. It could be that both Weasel and Swan are in the same faction, though, in which case it shouldn’t matter terribly much which way the chips fall here.
  19. That’s interesting. I guess Odium and Ruin decided to start killing, unless Dominion had a Dakhor Monk on whichever planet Penguin was at, or he targeted the wrong person and a Mistborn took him out. We don’t learn which Shard was Shattered, but odds are it’s Autonomy, from the discussion about aspect-creation and Worldhopping held at the end of last cycle. It would also mean Odium isn’t with Autonomy, but that was unlikely to begin with. Killing Penguin was kind of a jerk move. I’m pretty sure that he was trying for a narrative arc with his character, which was cut off (again) presuming he is who he said he was. Although it’s still possible for him to be Returned, if Endowment was feeling charitable (and would actually be kind of thematically perfect, in a way ).
  20. Radler’s first sight of civilisation on the once-planet of ash was a store for untapped metalminds, Harmony’s Bands. The owner seemed congenial enough, and he did pick up a few gold metalminds for health as a backup from her. He felt guilty promising to give them back when he was done, but he could not afford the extravagant charge of a hundred boxings a metalmind if he had to return the metal in the end. So Radler took his leave, the effusive promises coming out of his lips occupying only a portion of his mind, disappointed that none of the Worldhoppers in the store picked up on the phrases Domand had told him to use. What were they all doing here, anyway? Autonomy’s weakening had disrupted the Cosmere, but with its only surviving aspect on the planet, he had thought Worldhoppers would be a little more circumspect. Well, perhaps if Ruin hadn’t gotten to the Eyes of Trell yet, Preservation had kept him off their first planet. Finding the Shard was still his mission, but he needed information. Attempting to cling to the shadows of the long concrete roads lined by forests, leading towards the cities, he brought his hand over to his sword-belt. Many favoured guns or electric weapons; in this era, Radler had found that the value of a good sword in the hand of a blademaster was as high as ever. Slipping sideways as one of Autonomy’s lackeys drew near on the long road, he stumbled upon a huddled figure on the ground. It yelped, and so did he, drawing out his sword to strike at whatever had tripped him up. As he looked down, his stroke halted in midair, inches from the face of the vagrant whose dirty face looked up at him pleadingly. He lowered his sword, but had no time to spare. The brief scuffle had attracted the attention of Autonomy’s Agent, who neared him. Radler snarled at himself. This was not the time to pick up unwanted attention! He would have to kill the lumbering brute and flee. The Agent drew closer, arms at its sides and completely relaxed, not even pretending to be in a position ready to draw the gun at its sides. Radler snorted in derision. Had the Shard really grown so self-confident, even with half its aspects dead, to make its enforcers not even remotely concerned with a man openly carrying a sword? One, two strokes, and it lay in four pieces on the ground. Like chopping turnips. Absurd. He turned to the vagrant under his feet, hoping it would be more reasonable. “Where are you from?” he asked, then frowned. That was a dumb question to ask someone you just tripped up. Adonalsium, he must be getting truly exhausted if he was asking vagrants the test questions for Shardic Intelliegence. “That’s a good question,” the vagrant croaked humourously, “though not one I’m willing to answer without proof of who you are, and why you were sent.” She gave him a significant look. Stunned, Radler only had the capacity to dumbly mutter, “is this sufficient to prove me?” and pull the requisite card from his belt pouch, the strange one with the spears, branches, and crown that read ASWA. Who knew random vagrants were spies for Worldhopping organisations? But the informant was talking again. “Let us walk,” she said. “If I guess rightly the purpose for which you were sent, there is much you need to know...” The Shard of Autonomy is currently held by one of the following players: Ivory Dragonfly, Quartz Zebra, Indigo Weasel, Magenta Albatross, Pearl Chameleon, Plum Rhinoceros, Cream Tuatara, Emerald Falcon, Amber Vulture, Taupe Gecko, Melon Dingo.
  21. The only good it does is waste a lynch, but that’s very good if the faction wants to halt the flow of information, which seems fairly clear at this point. My sincere apologies to @Sapphire Elephant; I saw your post and meant to retract my vote, and probably would have added it to the Weasel lynch (for all the good it would have done), but yesterday was extremely taxing for me both physically and mentally, and I fell asleep trying to compose a post. I’ve lost it, but here are (from my vague memory) the main points: -A Weasel vote, with my reason being that I wanted to garner information and start Death. -A call for Shards to start using kill abilities, and investing in Mistborn and Dakhor Monks. I plan on a thorough reread of the thread today, with the analysis of that reread coming. Until then, I again apologise for my lack of presence here, and seek to rectify that in the days to come.
  22. Alright. I feel like I missed something during my temporary absence, though I’m not entirely sure what. For now, I see a few vaguely defined lynch wagons, which seem to be based off typical reasoning that ends up surrounding D1 lynches, regardless of whether or not a game has factions. Not that the reasoning is bad, it’s just typically less solid than it becomes later as more information is garnered. That said, although this has been nice so far, I think we should start killing people. Partially so the game can progress, as I’d rather this not become one very, very long blaze of light that extends until mid-May, if people don’t start dying, and partially to start getting information. For that reason alone I’d like a Toucan lynch, as I’m morbidly curious what his actual alignment is, but he does make a good point that lynching neutrals to test them every time is unfair to them, and I’d like to see how much he upholds his commitment to impartiality and neutrality. If he does, I see no reason not to let him continue living. Looking at the other lynch candidates, we have Weasel, for potentially conspiring with Odium, and Albatross, for pushing on an “easy” Toucan lynch. Of the two, I’d rather see Weasel dead if only to clear up the conflict between him an Axolotl a cycle or two ago, but again that’s not a terribly great reason to take someone out of the game, and I’m not entirely sure he’s really working with Odium (and that’s not necessarily a sin in any case). Instead, I’ll go @Sapphire Elephant. Sapphire, I understand being confused by the rules a little bit, especially if this truly is your first Shard game, but you’ve made a total of one post so far. Care to join us and share your thoughts some more? (Note: there are other minimally active people, as I just picked somebody at random. But I’d like it if everyone, including Sapphire and other minimally actives (and myself), to make a commitment to post in-thread once a cycle, even if it’s a “just-checking-back-in” or RP post, just to foster a little more interaction in here. Faction and world docs are nice, but this will be the permanent record of Seonid’s final game, so let’s make it an active and good one. Also, I’d rather lynch a semi-inactive than one fully so, if only because full inactives will eventually be replaced.)
  23. A tally I’ve been keeping shows that Weasel and Axolotl have outposted everyone else combined this cycle. Well done? I guess? to you two. Glad you’re active at least. We need more people to show up. Regarding the discussion they’d been having, I don’t have terribly much to say. I get the feeling Axolotl was phishing for reactions, claiming to know information on Shards that they don’t actually possess. As they aren’t on my world at the moment, I don’t know if there’s been exchange of information that resulted in Axolotl gaining a bevy of knowledge somehow, but either way unless he presents more conclusive evidence I’ll likely be doing analysis of my own regarding who Invested in Yolen. My first guess is Ambition, which couldn’t use an Investment Role or their other Day Shardic ability, and so began to charge Yolen up. I’d also place myself in the anti-Yolen camp, as such a potent center of power will a. likely get Ruined in short order and b. make the intricacies of the planetary system a lot less interesting, in my opinion. A lot of the game seems to be designed around balancing different people on different worlds, and it’d be sad to lose this challenge to something like Yolen which oversimplifies the game.
  24. Radler gazed intently at the sheet of instructions Domand had given him, committing them all to memory. Not that any of the actual goals were exactly forgettable, but it would be unwise to forget a small detail by negligence. He got the feeling his employers would not be pleased. Once he was sure all were in his head completely, he threw the directions into the lit fireplace, watching the flames slowly consume them. Now only he knew what he had to do, for the Cosmere and for himself. He opened his mouth to ask Domand how in Adonalsium’s name he was supposed to find Preservation, especially if a hostile force was potentially controlling it, when he pivoted and found the man gone. Questions bounced in his head: who is that man? What is his real aim? But they would have to go unanswered. He sighed. For some things, you just had to trust to your own intuition. Scadrial had been a former site of Preservation’s presence; perhaps he was there, and if the Vessel was elsewhere, well, he could always use the contacts he had gained access to with that slip of paper, with the strange seal. He would figure out what that meant, eventually. But for now, he settled with slipping into the Cognitive Realm, and winging his way towards the planet of metals. Note: whatever Radler is doing is not related to any in-game goals, or in-game actions. Just thought I’d clear that up. If there was a bit more time I’d address Toucan’s claim more thoroughly, but with the new set of clarifications that are backing his claims up, he isn’t necessarily lying. Hopefully, discussion can move on from him tomorrow when we begin to have lynches.
