    I walked back in from the chull pens, feeling quite pleased with myself. I hadn’t gotten them to sing, but now the chull handlers would have a doozy of a time finding all of them in the palace.

    And with that, I walked out of the dance hall to go spend time with the much more intelligent chulls.

    "Wait what? She didn't reveal anything! She was exposed! She lied to us, and we figured it out, and then she's like 'oh heck I better fess up.' Like you're turning this into a sob story it isn't. She lied to us. She told us that aesudan attacked the parshendi. She also let known the fact that Adolin was thinking about attacking people. This is all, 100%, her fault."

    "I'm annoyed everyone wants to kick Adolin out. He hasn't actually done anything. Liss actually threatened the stability of this entire court. But, whatever. I'm going out of the palace to go visit the chulls, I find them much better company than this court. Perhaps I will be able to teach them to sing."

    I winked at Ash, and waved the dress that Liss had grabbed about. “Do you think I would look like you if I put this on?” I whispered.

    "Adolin, Adolin! Your face! There will be plenty of laughter once Terim finally slips on the oil I left outside of his room, I assure you."

    "Dear Adolin thought that he could prevent Dalinar drinking by killing dalinar. While the logic makes a perverse sense, I pointed out that there were better ways to prevent dalinar from drinking besides killing him. We had already come to that aimable conclusion by the time Liss's treachery was exposed. Note that while Adolin considered a heinous action, it was Liss who really took a heinous action. I don't see this as being a reason to ostracize Adolin, because all of us have bad ideas occasionally. I mean, just look at how your parents had a bad idea, and you turned out- well despicably, but you did some nice things. Adolin has been disabused of his notion, and so I vote we move on from his brashness." I then leaned over to Adolin. "You are going to owe me big for this. You're going to be the butt of all my jokes for the next year."

    I grimaced, and my face became hard as stone. "Sadeas may be a cremling, Aesudan might be a political disaster waiting to happen, but you have betrayed me. And I have no greater insult to offer other than to entirely ignore you." I turned away, walked back over to the place where the herald statue was missing, and proceeded to pose once again as Ash.

    "Adolin did have the idea to kill Dalinar, but I have been spending large amounts of time convincing him that that is a truly bad idea. And it appears that Adolin and I were deceived in our information. Aesudan, I still don't like you, but Liss lied about the result of her action in order to use us to kill you. And so I apologize for that. Treasure that, because it won't happen again."

    "I apologize for not telling you earlier, I was busy comparing Sadeas to a rock. As you can understand, such activities are quite engaging."

    "I second this. Indeed, Aesudan did make an attempt on Klade, which is displeasing to me because Klade actually appreciates my Wit, unlike all of you. I have no idea why she would do this, but clearly she did. My King, I worry she is trying to undermine the alliance."

    I watched Lisa run away to actually do it. Hah! It would be entertaining to see her try and get that on him. Then I heard what Sadeas said, and I sighed. “My king, I know for an absolute fact Adolin has never and never will have such plans. Last night he assisted me in a task, and l can assure you it was not to kill Sadeas. After all, if Sadeas were dead, I would no longer have a suitable equivalent of my mossy rock to make fun of! Life in this court would become boring.”

    "No, my king. I just felt as though the space needed filling. Would anyone be able to get me a particularly revealing dress?"

    I walked over to where the herald and the king were looking at the missing statue. I decided to entertain myself by pushing past them, and taking the pose of Ash.

    "Hm, a good point. Compared to me, you basically are cremlings. At least in terms of what you have seen. And in that, both this cremling and I are far superior to you. I once told an amazing story to this cremling. And it really appreciated it, unlike the last time I tried to tell a story to Gavilar, and he was just left confused." I shook my head. The alethi elite weren't ignorant... but perhaps they weren't quite worth trying to explain anything to. So, I decided to walk away. However, that had been the best part of the evening. Hopefully, I could top that.

    I caught the cremling. "Actually, I'm quite confident this guy is way more intelligent than you. And trust me, it is quite disdainful of me. It made me take it with me!" I glared at the offending bug, and put it in the pocket with the moss. They were good at listening, however annoying they are.

    I took back my decision about waiting on the cremling. I promptly pulled it out and put it on her fingermoss. "There. Now it looks like you in that dress."

    I grabbed my rock- it was one of my favorite tools to insult people- and grinned at Amaram. I considered bringing out the cremling I had in my other pocket, but decided to save that for later. Best not to insult them too much at once.

    I frowned. "Look at it, it looks like your face when I insult you. I thought you would feel a kinship to the rock. It also has the same amount of wit, proved by the fact that you do not understand all the subtle insults I have thrown at you. Just like how this moss continues to grow despite how little the horneaters like it." And then, before Sadeas could do anything about it, I put it on top of his head.

    "Ah, I'm glad you're being entertained Sadeas! It always makes me happy to see your mind entirely engrossed by the politics. Oh, and do you want this mossy rock?" I proffered my purple mossy rock.

    "Both, sadly." I pulled a small rock out of my pocket, which had a bit of purplish moss on it, that swayed back and forth a bit.

    I sighed. Of course someone had overheard. "I am competent compared to you. If I were to utilize the full extent of my wit, no one would appreciate it properly. So I am reduced to simple insults in order for you to understand me." "Yes, I can keep calm just fine. And those mosses are highly entertaining. You all ooh and ahh over those mosses, but the horneaters consider it a weed. Goes to show how simple minded all of you are. Which makes me wonder if perhaps it is spreading to me."

    I looked around, a bit panicked. "SHHHHHH" I hissed. "If these people know how competent I am, they'll expect more than just dull insults from me! They might expect me to be... productive. Yes I will come. Just, hush."

    "Hey Jasnah, it's about 2 hours after sunset!" I called, sensing her mood, Obviously, she looked like she needed to know how long after sunset it was. The ardent, meanwhile, had ceased to rub his head looking for the hair I had pointed out, and was glaring at me. I was pretty sure ardents weren't supposed to glare at people.

    For the first time on Roshar, I decided I needed to go talk to a priest. An ardent, as they called them here. The thing is, I wanted to poke a bit of fun at an ardent. Normally that wasn't the sort of thing I would do, but today I felt like that would be fun. "Hey, ardent." I said to one who was walking by. "You have one little hair sticking up out of your head." I then stepped back, smirking as the ardent began to panic, frantically rubbing his hands over his perfectly smooth head. Perhaps these ardents weren't quite used to my typical shtick.
