Long Game 49/Anonymous Game 3: Window to the Past
Cream Tuatara replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"The King is dead!" Navani swiftly turned her head at the announcer and came to see what all the fuss was about. Gavilar, dead? It couldn't be. It wasn't. Yes, Navami shouldn't have gotten ahead of herself. This was simple drama, something to keep all the Birghtlords and Brightnesses here entertained. Gavilar couldn't possibly have died. Yes, it made more sense to Navani the more she thought it through. Yes, her husband was not an easy man to kill. He had his Plate and was one of the finest warriors with Blade. Not to mention the Cobalt guard. As Navani pushed through the crowd she saw the body. Gavilar's body. Stabbed in the back, his crown upturned beside him. He was dead. A small congregation of people separated as Navani kneeled by her dead husband. They'd had so many good times together. They'd loved each other. They'd raised two wonderful children. She thought about them, wondered how they would feel. Oh, poor Jasnah, and poor Elhokar. They would never again see their father. Navani wondered whether to cry. She felt like crying, felt like collapsing next to Gavilar and weeping. She felt the tears emerge, but she stopped them. Now was not the time for crying. She could cry at the funeral, it would be acceptable there. Now, Navani had to show the party that even while Gavilar was dead, order still remained. She had to set an example. "Brightlords and Brightnesses!" Navani called, actively trying to keep her voice from quivering any further. "It is true King Gavilar is dead! He was great, and we will mourn his loss, but for now we need to find out who is the culprit!" She looked to the Parshendi. "This is a peace treaty, and yet our King dies the same night we welcome you into the palace. What is this nonsense." She looked at the Cobalt Guard, at Tearim in particular. "Your job is to protect the King! How could you slip?" She looked at everyone else, the diplomats and servants who seemed to blend into the background. "You all are everywhere in the palace! Could you not see something?" She looked to the Shin man, his eyes not showing even a shred of emotion. She stared at him longer than the rest. "We must find the murderer." She said, slowly, and resolutely.- 1062 replies

Navani Kholin stood up and raised her voice. She was stressed beyond belief, but obviously she would never show that. "Excuse me. With all this talk of murder and ostracization, this party is turning quite grim indeed. I do not have much to say about Amaram, since he seems devout to his gambles and I trust him for that. Rather, I have come to extend a hand to anyone who would want to help me achieve my own goal. "You see, while some are going around killing people, I just have to Study. However, it requires somebody particularly qualified to Cooperatewoth me. Would anyone like to volunteer to help me if they are not preoccupied? I will promise to be of assistance to anyone who does."- 1062 replies

Navani saw Adolin stalking around the palace, and walked up to him. He was wearing a fabrial she herself had designed, which would have been flattering if it wasn't for the current situations. "Adolin, dear." She said, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Are you alright?"- 1062 replies

Navani heard the shouts, and hurriedly made her way to Renarin's dead body. Oh, oh no. No no no no A Kholin. Dead. This would spark an outrage. Not to mention Sadeas' death as well. Hurriedly, Navani left Renarin's body. She didn't want to be anywhere near when Dalinar heard of this.- 1062 replies

Navani turned at Aesudan. "Spren are highly interesting things. We have yet to discover whether spren can be created, to put it lightly, but it is theorised. For example, musicspren couldn't have existed until we created music, correct? And so we believe that by creating something completely new, something innovative enough, a spren could be 'birthed', to say. This idea is amazing when you consider how we can make fabrials with the spren. We haven't even made fabrials on all the known spren yet. Imagine if we could create new spren to make fabrials from? Alethi technology would skyrocket!" Navani, took a deep breath, realised she was getting very excited, and composed herself. "That, of course, is highly theoretical. You are correct, my dear Aesudan, when it comes to Perception. It has appeared through testing that something such as taking measurements or a drawing of a spren can change its values. We are testing how this works, and whether it makes a difference in fabrials whether a spren is Perceived a certain way or not. If we, for example, perceived a spren as more efficient, would a fabrial made from that spren be more efficient to use than a fabrial from a normal spren of the same type? It really is fascinating."- 1062 replies

"Alright, let's get serious." Navani's voice rang through the halls. While the men chatted and the women gossiped, someone had to make sure things didn't get out of hand. "Liss has been spreading lies in the court, and I will not tolerate such behaviour."- 1062 replies

Navani twirled around, stormlight unusually bright as she heard fragments of voices. Accusations. Reaching her hand for a mind-clearing drink as Jasnah had advised her, Navsni found herself drinking more wine. "Oh my," she mumbled as she turned to address the crowd, keeping herself upright. She wasn't drunk. A little giddy, but not drunk, right? "Excuse me," she said as a brief pocket of silence manifested for the Queen to speak through. "People are saying Aesudan is attempting murderer, and maybe she is, and that's bad." Why was she speaking so informally? "But what if Aesudan didn't? But what if she did? But what if she didn't? But what if she did? But what if she didn't? But what if she did? But what if she didn't? But what if she did? But what if she didn't? This is all so confusing, somebody fetch me something detoxicating!" As she a servant scramble to serve her, Navani continued. "But Adolin, my own nephew? I know you are honourable, but surely all these people are not lying about you? But maybe they are lying of your deeds. But maybe you really are a danger. But what if you're not? But what if you are? But what if you're not? But what if you are? But what if you're not? But what if you are? But what if you're not? But what if you are? But what if- Navani fainted.- 1062 replies

"Oh, nonsense, Jasnah." Navani screwed up her face and waved her daughter back. The truth was, she quite liked this new experience. It was different. Navani made a mental note to do more tests on this. Perhaps she'd use Dalinar as a test subject. He seemed to have mastered the art of drinking. See? Navani thought as she stumbled back to turn, leaning on Jasnah. I'm still smart. "Some of the best artworks were created while drunk, you know," She whispered to Jasnah. "Ask your father to show you some time." Taking a deep breath, Navani resumed trying to act proper.- 1062 replies

Navani heard her husband's name being said, so like the good wife she was she got up from her chair (holding onto the table for stability) and turned her head to Ialai and Aesudan, shuffling toward them. "Hello," she said. "What's this about Gavilar?" Was this how it felt to be drunk? On the brink of toppling over, giggling, and sleeping? She'd only had two glasses of blue wine! Navani tried to keep herself balanced and upright, trying to maintain an aura of authority despite being, without a doubt, intoxicated. It was painfully obvious, but Navani still hoped no one would notice she certainly couldn't hold her alcohol. It was still so confusing. Men spoke of being drunk like the state was their best friend, but right now Navani was overwhelmed by the drink. She smiled, in a crazy sort of way.- 1062 replies

Navani, realising Tearim wasn't going to reply, left the man with and looked around the party. Ordering a glass of Blue Wine, she sat down on a nearby chair and began yet again pondering her new fabrial idea.- 1062 replies

Navani was bored. So, she walked over to @SE_Tearim, who hadn't talked much lately, and asked him whether he was liking the party, and whether there were any security issues she needed to be wary of. She waited for the Shardplated man to reply.- 1062 replies

Navani, noticing the Parsh's blank expression to her words, realised it would probably be best if she didn't bombard the thing with questions straight away. Leaving Sadeas to manage it, Navani managed to find Elhokar in the middle of the crowd, a worried expression on his face "Elhokar, dear." Navani walked next to him. "What's wrong? How can I help?"- 1062 replies

Navani spoke, walking up to the Parshendi person It seemed to have a beard with gemstones of all things weaved through it. How odd. Did that mean it was a man? "Good music, wouldn't you say?" She wasn't sure if the coded language of small-talk would be lost on the creature, but she continued all the more. Relationship building was important on a night like this, and the image of the queen herself conversing with one of the Parsh would be bound to create a greater sense of Unity. "It's a pleasure talking with your kind," She said honestly, to the Parsh. "I don't think this has ever happened before, and I'm glad our respective civilisations can finally form a treaty on this lovely night." Navani turned to the drummers, still speaking. "Are you enjoying the arrangements?"- 1062 replies

"That would be enough, Ialai," Navani spoke with a stern tone, her words a warning hopefully not lost on deaf ears. While Gavilar and his brother found themselves fond of the couple, Navani couldn't stand them. As her eyes met Ialai's they seemed to have a conversation just with the glance. Shooting a scolding stare back at Jasnah, Navani remarked. "Daughter, dear, perhaps you'd like to listen to the drummers for a bit. Relax, and remember not to be disrespectful to your elders." She'd seen her husband manage to get Torol out of the arrangement, Navani felt it was her duty to do the second half. Suddenly, a diplomat stepped out and voted Jasnah to be ostracised. Taking a deep breath, Navani turned her head at the man, hopefully giving him a stare frightening enough to reconsider his options. She'd been told she did that sometimes.- 1062 replies

Navani noticed Ialai and Torol Sadeas enter the building, still managing to put up a polite smile despite how she really felt about them. Especially Ialai, the gossiping brat. Navani recoiled slightly at the use of such profanity, even in her mind (a lady didn't resort to such barbaric means!) but decided such a description was too easy on Sadeas' wife. Alllowing a small huff of displeasure escape her, Navani picked up her notebook and stood up with her havah, slowly making her way to greet the couple. It was proper palace protocol, and everybody knew that not greeting the leaders of a particularly powerful highprincedom was a very large breach in that. Navani saw Ialai take a fleeting glance at her before Navani entered into the vicinity of the pair. "Ialai and Torol!" She said, pretending to only just notice them. "It is a great pleasure to have you on such a night. Are you enjoying the arrangements?"- 1062 replies

Navani Kholin heard Wit's words with an attentive ear, understanding what he said but ignoring it all the same. That was how it usually went with Wit. Still, Navani subconsciously checked her perfume again, which, as always, was impeccable. She was a queen of class, after all.- 1062 replies

Navani Kholin held up her fake I’m-so-interested smile as a woman near her outlined the current gossip so far circulating. Normally, she would have been content with the information. Now, she had other thoughts on her mind. Drinks, yes. Food, yes. Drummers, yes. Is there anything I forgot to tell the arrangers? Navani glanced around the palace as her Informant continued, outlining in great detail a certain noblewoman’s controversial political beliefs. Navani wrote a note down to remember that on a hankercheif, before carefully folding it and placing it within her safehand pouch. Perhaps the next time she was argued against, she could bring up the hypocrisy? Yes, that could work. As Navani looked around, she saw some familiar faces. Her eyes lingered for a heartbeat on one such face, the face of a King. Gavilar Kholin hadn't noticed her stare yet, but before he could Navani snapped herself out of the trance, girlish smile reducing to a more focused frown as he tried outlining an idea for a new fabrial. She was a scholarly woman, Navani had to remember thar. Not one to gush over men! Such public affections were not very Alethi. "That is all, thank you," Navani addressed the gossip, continuing her fabrial drawing. She couldn't pin down what exactly it would do, yet, but she was sure she was onto something.- 1062 replies
