    Xino screamed. "I... will... not... give... IN!" But his determination was shaking reality to the core. Already it had been weakened my the removal and subsequent replacement of Star. Much more of this, and... It will split, Silence whispered. One universe with Star, the other with Ember. Xino, I think, will go with Ember, but the rest...? He grinned. Well, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

    I'd be too worried it would get shot down, that's the problem. True, but more people make a plot more fun, and main plots have the most people. An idea. The world is spiked, correct? That means it has a bindpoint. So, what if there were other bindpoints? And what if someone decided to stick an aluminum spike in them?

    Silence shrugged. I really have no idea why you just told me that. Did you mean to say it to Xino? He's over there. Xino felt it. The power of this new reality, pulling threads back the way they should be. Or at least, the way it thought it should be. Right now, he was still Narrator Xino, but he could already feel it slipping. In just a few minutes, it would be gone, and he would be powerless once more. The first time it had happened, he'd had no concept of what it would be like. But now he could feel how his path had changed. He could feel the loss that he had taken. And he could understand truly what letting go would mean. A groan escaped him as reality tugged, but he was not swayed. Instead, dark cracks began to appear, light tracery on the stones where he stood.

    No, I was just expressing general frustration about my utter lack of influence on the main plot.

    I wish someone would let me be in charge of the main plot. Or even partly in charge. Really, any input would be nice.

    Careful what you assume, Star... But as of right now, there was a far worse threat. Despite the danger that Silence had posed, few Narrators had actually fallen to him. Most had snuck behind his back and regained their powers at a later date; all, in fact, except for two. Astral had been destroyed with Star, so that left only one; one that would regain their power when Silence was 'balefired'. And only one that stood to lose it all again.

    Tom seemed disturbed by something. "Star...?" he said a little uncertainly.

    Pheonix paled even further. "Star? What... what just happened?" Tom's head suddenly snapped up. His eyes unfocused for a second.

    Pheonix looked around, disoriented. "How did I..." he muttered, then his eyes widened. "Hey! I can talk again!" He looked around excitedly, then gasped when his eyes met Star's. He ran over, pale. "S-star? Are you all right? What happened?"

    The Cukoos cawed metallically as they attacked, their copper bodies glinting in the artificial lighting.

    Draug continued. "Sha-thoexis was drawn by her presence here, as she is to all outsiders- especially ones unlucky enough to fall asleep under her influence. Those she usually Fells with ease; she thought to do the same here. She would have succeeded, too, was it not for the efforts of me and... what's his name? The other bondsmith, the one that just arrived?" @Dr. Dapper

    Tom handed it over ceremoniously.

    Tom nodded. And so, for the next two years, Tom and his servants performed experiments, gathered ingredients, and crafted compounds. Two years later. Tom held up a small vial in triumph. It was a bright cyan color, and stoppered with a metallic cork. "It is done," he spoke into the air.

    “If AJ lets me study his power intensively, I can probably get the serum developed within a year. My servants should be able to get enough of the raw materials to make it by that point, so we should be able to create the serum shortly thereafter. “Of course, we’re going to have about a million gallons of the stuff at that point. Distillation down to a drinkable amount could take another year or two- or more- depending on a number of other factors.”

    Tom's eyebrows shot up, but he nodded. "It could take a while. I'll have to fabricate an entirely new serum, first of all- though I've gotten better at that then I once was. After that, I'll need to distill it down to something that could be feasibly consumed. And that's not even counting how long it will take to get the raw materials..."

    "Tenfold? Why only ten...?" Tom turned, continuing his musings. "Maybe if you were using hemalurgy and had to worry about spiritual damage, you would do tenfold. But I can do much better than that."

    Tom's mouth opened slightly and his eyes widened. Then he set his gun down respectfully. "What do you wish me to make, O goddess?"
