  1. It hatched a devious plan to replace all the pigs with potatoes.
  2. "Confident, I see," said Rekaerb, raising his eyebrows. "But I think you'll find them harder to destroy than you imagine." "In theory, yes. In practice..." he shrugged. "It wouldn't exactly be practical. At least, not right now."
  3. "Spirits of destruction," explained Rekaerb. "They venture throughout worlds, spreading blight and death wherever they go." Pieces of the broken box fell to the ground, their edges blackened. Little bits of sparkling shadow floated above the patch of burned ground where the withergeist had previously stood. Rekaerb sighed. "There are better ways to take care of them, you know... ways that don't involve alerting every one of its siblings within a kilochord radius."
  4. But the ghost of the pig would haunt the World Facility for years to come.
  5. "The shadow itself, certainly," said Rekaerb. "But I was talking about that." A tiny translucent figure with tattered wings and blank white eyes drifted slowly upwards. A withergeist.
  6. "Not potent enough," said Rekaerb grimly, his eyes tracking a ominously shaped figure through a shadow.
  7. "Here," said the man who had commented on Gears's cookie and the man who had teleported Ene simultaneously.
  8. In the blink of an eye, the pair vanished, appearing in the alley besides the others.
  9. "As a matter of fact," said the man, "I can." He extended a hand for her to take. "I would hurry, if I were you. According to my calculations, this realm should be disintegrating soon."
  10. "Out entirely," hissed Jared, flinging his hand forwards to release a spray of jagged red lighting. Fortunately, Tom got the hint and teleported the boat away before it could hit.
  11. The withergeists began to drift towards Ene, withered limbs outstretched. "Hmm," said a voice behind her. "I don't think this is a good place to be, is it?"
  12. There was no response but a chorus of hair-raising hisses emanating from behind her. Abigail's breath catches, then steadies into a even rhythm. Her body relaxes as she falls into sleep.
  13. "Really?" said a man, stepping out from the shadows. "Well, eat away, I suppose. Anyways," he continued, "what brings you here?"
  14. Abigail's breathing was heavy, her eyes closed. Either she didn't hear Fadran or she was too distracted to respond. "I would advise against that," said a voice drily. "At least, if you value your soul."
  15. The cube of power began to shrink as the withergeist drew its power into itself. Its soulless eyes gleamed with pleasure as it began to grow... Narrator X remarks drily that Fadran should have perhaps been careful where he put his treasure. He also advises that the group take the exit route provided by Dr. Gears. Abigail had fallen to her knees, her breathing heavy. Her eyes were wide open, glowing with ruby light.
  16. Abigail opened the box. The cube shimmered with an odd luminescence. The withergeist reached out a twisted hand to rest on its surface and began to feed.
  17. "How...?" said Abigail, confused. "I... I don't know. I was... somewhere else..." She trailed off, shivering, as though a bad memory had suddenly resurfaced.
  18. Abigail looked at the hand with a blank expression for a moment, then hesitantly took it. "I'm... alright," she said. "I think?"
