  1. Obsidian observed the posters and put his name down for junk cleanup. He wondered what a kleever would taste like. Silver settled down with a sigh in a comfy armchair next to the fireplace. "I think that went well, don't you?" he asked to the empty air. The air did not respond. Silver smiled, watching the fire flicker... With a start, he realized he'd dozed off. What's more, someone had posted posters while he'd been asleep. He eyed them curiously. The research team caught his eye. An easygoing expedition to investigate the powers of houseplants? Seemed like it was made for him! He put his name down, then returned to the fireplace. Within moments he had dozed off once again.
  2. The princess raised an eyebrow. "Forgotten our deal?"
  3. Mariel's eyes glittered, and she smiled slightly. "Hmm. I don't think so, Viney. Stand up." The command crashed into Hyron's mind, an irresistible impulse to follow the princess's command.
  4. "Indeed," she replied. "I am Mariel. Princess of the Nameless Isle." She leaned on her scepter thoughtfully. "Viney. Stuck Up. Acolyte." She raised her scepter and pointed at each one of them in turn. "Come here." The words rang with the force of command, and the three felt their bodies move towards her involuntarily.
  5. "Good morning to you..." Mariel waved a hand, evidently trying to come up with something. "Intruders. I suppose introductions are in order?"
  6. "Oh," said Silver after a moment. "Just you." He then turned and realized that a child had appeared while he'd been distracted. "Water," Obsidian said, thinking. "The liquid? It also goes in the mouth?"
  7. Obsidian swallowed and picked up the container of salt. He pulled the spout open and poured some into his mouth. He then proceeded to spew it out all over the floor in front of him. "Bleugh!" he exclaimed, trying to wipe off his tongue. "You eat this stuff?"
  8. At last the tunnel opened up into a massive cave. A mesh of metal lined the ceiling far above, bathing the entire cavern in pale red light. In the center of the room was a crystal hovering in midair. It gave off its own red light, and dripped with a liquid that looked ominously like blood. Between the trio and the crystal stood the princess, her back turned to the entrance. She turned as Miyako, Hyron, and Yerik entered.
  9. Obsidian somewhat uncertainly reproduced the apple and took a bite. His eyes widened. "Ahh..." he said (though his mouth was full of apple, so it came out more like "aughl").
  10. Obsidian picked up an apple and absorbed it with black goo. He frowned. "Hm. Was that supposed to feel different?"
  11. "Oops," muttered Obsidian, realizing that the elbow was pointing forwards instead of backwards. "Wrong way around." He reversed the direction of the arm and stuck it back onto Dave's body, where it resolved back into Dave's arm, looking for all the world as though it had never been detached. "There," he said with satisfaction, breaking off from the arm. "Much better. Arms are boring anyways."
  12. Obsidian brightened at the prospect of being able to eat people. "Oh, I can do that!" Black goo poured out of his hand and formed the shape of Dave's missing arm. He reached out to press the end back where it belonged.
  13. Obsidian hesitated for a moment. "Okay," he agreed after much consideration. "Can I still eat other people? Rude people?" "Do you need your arm back?"
  14. Obsidian scowled. "Not as filling. Missing..." he waved a hand, trying to find a word. "Nutrients?"
  15. Silver stood awkwardly in the hallway, then went after Ravyn. "So, uh," he said. "What... happened, exactly?" @Aes Sedai Obsidian furrowed his brow. "...what?"
  16. Obsidian folded his arms. "How would you feel if someone stole food from you as you were eating it? Maybe I should eat you right now!" "It's rude to steal," Obsidian insisted stubbornly.
  17. The walls of the stairwell transitioned from white stone into gray as the trio descended beneath the earth. At the bottom of the stairs, the floor sloped downwards, the walls getting rougher and rougher the farther it went on. The only light was a dim red given off by the metal strips overhead.
  18. The black goo formerly in the shape of an arm collapsed back into Obsidian. He growled, and turned towards Galard with an expression of anger on his face. "Hey!"
  19. "Oh! Um, good, I guess." Despite his words, Yerik seemed somewhat downcast. The guard led Hyron, Yerik, and Miyako down the staircase. They reached the level which they had entered from the previous day, the level where the throne room was- and continued descending.
