  1. The woman tilted her head. I cannot tell if you are being sarcastic or not. Either way, be careful with corruption. There are beings that reside here that are attracted to such energy... beings you would do well to stay far away from.
  2. The woman looked wistfully sympathetic. She bowed her head. The one who remembers anger is not gone forever. I fear his path will cross yours again... perhaps soon. May you be ready, then.
  3. Hmm, intriguing. I would argue that if anything, it was a self-targeting Narration, but it is somewhat of a moot point. It is not my authority to return them, the woman replied. For that, you must appeal to he who now claims ownership. Her eyes tracked inwards, towards the conspicuously absent castle. The most I can do is this. As the void-eyed man lifted his blade, ready to smite the defenseless Sequence, he vanished.
  4. Instead of grabbing the narrative energy, the ally grabbed the fireball. (Void-eyed pulled a bait and switch) Enough, a familiar voice suddenly called. The woman who had welcomed the adventurers into the lands of Onyx appeared without warning and removed the amulet from the hand of the void-eyed man. Onyx lays claim to this power, used without authority. She waved her hand and the powers that the void-eyed man had given himself were removed. You have been warned.
  5. The void-eyed man grinned as the ally fought. The blade of the ally turned into smoke.
  6. The void eyed man laughed out loud as the light in his hand resolved into an amulet of green. "Ah, it's been a while... I've missed this." The man suddenly gained the ability to conjure fireballs. He grinned, conjuring a fireball in the hand that wasn't containing the amulet. "Yes!" "Ow," exclaimed the man without much emotion. The wound was suddenly healed. The fireball rolled off his hand onto the ground. The fireball poofed into sparks in her hands.
  7. The rubber band bounced off harmlessly. The void-eyed man grinned a joyless grin. "I don't need to kill you." He ripped his hand out of Sequence, pulling a swirling orb of light out of her chest. "I just need to take your Narration away."
  8. The void-eyed man extended a hand into Sequence's chest. "We'll have to fix that then, won't we?"
  9. The void eyes narrowed as the adventurer tore apart skeleton after skeleton. In a flash of black light, he was standing behind Sequence. "You cheat," he hissed.
  10. The void-eyed man leans to the side, letting the dagger fly past him while his skeletons bite, claw, and tear at the adventurer.
  11. A man steps out from behind a tree. His skin and hair are ashen grey, and his clothes are ragged and torn. His eyes are closed, but he faces the travelers one by one as if he can see them perfectly. He exhales, letting out a sigh of some unidentifiable emotion. "That is unfortunate," he states. He raises his right hand. Black mist swirls up from the ground, forming into a shimmering steel blade inset with veins of blue and black. His eyes open, and twin voids stare out at the travelers. "There is room for only one victor in this little game. And it's not going to be you." Around him, the ground breaks open as skeletal forms claw their way free of the earth's crushing embrace. No sooner have they breached the surface then they charge at the brave adventurer and his companions, jaws open in a soundless scream of rage.
  12. "Excuse me," a voice says. "Are you looking for this... 'Plotblade?'
  13. Many will, the woman answered seriously. They are memories of anger, of fear, and of hatred. I am not. She raised her hands. I am a memory of protection, of guidance... and of caution. For one final time she studied the unnamed adventurer. In another story, another time, perhaps I would have been your guide. But today I am bound. She bowed her head. Step carefully, adventurer. And just as suddenly as she had appeared, she was gone.
  14. The woman studied him for a moment more before replying. Secrets are a dangerous thing, here. Hope even more so. You would be wise to keep them hidden. There are those who would seek to steal them from you, should they be revealed.
  15. So you believe that this of all worlds holds your cure. Or perhaps... you hope?
  16. The woman's head tilted. You come to a place of death for life?
  17. The woman is in front of him, blocking the way forward. First, she intoned, you must repay your debt. You have spoken lies. And so you must give the truth. What brings your feet to this, of all paths? This the woman did not answer.
  18. No, the woman replies. It is not my place to kill. Only to guard.
  19. The figure studies him for a moment. You lie, she speaks.
  20. A figure just... appears. Her posture is light, as though she's one step away from blowing away in the wind. Her hair floats around her, rustling as though in an invisible wind and obscuring her eyes. She tilts her head in the direction of the brave adventurer, watching.
  21. The withered trees rustled ever so slightly. There was no wind.
  22. Nothing happened. At least, not immediately.
  23. The team leaders will select the contenders.
  24. However, the stronghold was forbidden to them, as it was to all creatures not directly under Onyx's control. As the adventurers approached, they saw the border. It was hard to miss: everything on the other side was dead.
